Michael's Mediterranean Restaurant in Cotswold

Once again a delightful evening with our family. The service was just enough attention, food was delicious and atmosphere is lush

It’s a pretty little restaurant with a friendly team of servers, but I found the moussaka very bland, inedibly so. Having raised this, I was informed that the chef’s response was ‘this is how we make it’ and I was charged the full £18 for a dish I’d barely touched. At the very least, a conversation about a discount should have been an option. It was badly handled.

This is a lovely little restaurant situated in the centre of Chipping Campden. You definitely have to book because it is quite small inside. The service was great, as was the food. There were too many options to choose from! There were also specials on the board. We took our dog in with us too, I had checked beforehand that he was allowed in. Worth a visit!

We booked a table on Monday. The staff were helpful and warned us that the portions were sizeable as we don't like food waste. We shared the starter of the jambon croquettes and we both had the chicken and chorizo cassoulet. The cassoulet was amazing with two chicken breast fillets and tons of chorizo. It was certainly a challenge to finish. We were both full and although the desserts looked delicious and tempting, we couldn't fit another thing. The next day, we couldn't see any other restaurant that we fancied so we went back to Michael's. Fore warned, we just had four starters: the Octopus , beetroot salad, jambon croquettes and the Moules marinière. We weren't disappointed with our choices. The Octopus was perfectly cooked and not chewy, the salad was light and tasty and the mussels were very generous. I cannot recommend Michael's enough. Delicious food, friendly staff and a great choice of Mediterranean food. Booking is recommended as they get full very quickly. Dogs are welcome

will defo be back some friends and i went for a meal and were thoroughly impressed, as a starter we had garlic prawns off the specials board and the meatballs, i have never had such fresh prawns in england before. as mains we had a sirloin steak cooked to perfection and i cannot recommend the peppercorn sauce enough, the pork ribs fell off the bones, the burger was thick and juicy. for dessert we had churros and the freshly made rich dipping chocolate was delicious. the staff were attentive, they wiped away mess from the prawns off the table, cleared empty bottles. a memorable evening for all and will be back in the future!

We regularly meet friends and this was, by far, our favourite place to meet. We had delicious meals and loved the halloumi pittas and salad. The Greek sausages were amazing. The choice of wine and cocktails was impressive. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and we did not feel at all rushed. We took home some delicious cakes. We will definitely be returning!

Dined as a family, We Booked and arrived for the earlier sitting, were shown to a table immediately and promptly served drinks then food. We ordered the Galician Octopus and Croquettes for starters, then went to the Kleftiko, Moussaka, Burger and Fish. After a delicious meal we shared a few desserts. Amazing food and atmosphere, great staff as well.

In all my years of visiting a eatery both abroad and the UK have i never been told to wait outside in the pouring rain while the staff prepare the table. After we came back for our sitting it was evident the establishment is too small to cater for parties of more than 9 comfortably along with other diners coming in I and others felt hemmed in. There was something badly wrong with the customer service in that when we finished each course at least 15 minutes elapsed before the plates were removed and that only happened when we made the request. The food was mediocre at best and one of the diners moussaka bore no resemblence to any that i have seen or eaten. Last but not least i never got my coffee.

I’ve always wanted to try this restaurant, but despite visits to several popular villages in that area, we’ve only briefly driven through Chipping Campden once without stopping due to a torrential downpour, so on seeing the promise of a sunny day, we booked lunch. The menu is mainly Greek, and a hint of Spanish, with a good selection of fish and other dishes, including vegetarian. After checking the “All Day Mains” on the online sample menu, and a nice walk around town, we took a table on the rear outside terrace and I was looking forward to trying the Beef Stifado in a rich sauce with herbed rice, or the Duck Breast in Pedro Ximinez wine jus. Unfortunately, it seems these dishes were not served during lunch, and I don’t recall seeing a couple of other dishes, the Lamb Tagine or Fileto Marathona I’d have tried either. Nevertheless, I chose the less exotic option of rare breed Gloucestershire sirloin served with skinny fries and steak garni & seasonal salad. I’m not a fan of skinny fries but they were nice and crispy which I liked. The steak was very nice and perfectly rare as requested, although it would have been even better if the fat had been rendered a little more. My wife decided to try something other than fish for a change, and asked about the Vegetable Moussaka, wanting a small portion as she hates seeing a full plate (strange woman!) but was told it was quite large and this wasn’t possible due to how it’s made and served, so she fell back on the fish, choosing the Butterflied Sea Bass in a fisherman’s sauce (smoked paprika, garlic, parsley, white wine, and olive oil), confit thyme potatoes and buttered cavolo nero. She really liked this (despite it being a full plate???) so was very glad she had it. Similarly, her dessert of Baileys Affogato with a shot of espresso went down a treat, but mine, the Mango Cheesecake with passion fruit sorbet and fresh berries was truly delicious. It didn’t look like the usual cheesecake slice, but was served in a bowl and the mango topping was a more of a sauce and it tasted lovely. The food was really good and reasonably priced but I’d check before booking lunch if having a specific dish is important to you, or go for dinner.

This is a gem of a Bistro in Chipping Campden with views out to the Honeycombed cottages . The two young Front of House staff were excellent , friendly , efficient and professional. We both had moussaka which was delicious washed down with a lovely house Malbec Thank you 😊 10/10

Absolutely outstanding food and service. Top quality fresh fish and seafood and great value for money. Very varied menu combined with plenty of specials. This restaurant puts all others to shame. The food and drink was the best ever!! The granola was lovely and sweet, the hot chocolate was velvety and sweet. And it’s all thanks to Julia. I would come here again since the last time i came here was when i was 4

We were in the area with our (very well behaved) dog and popped in on a Monday evening. We had no reservation but were made to feel very welcome. It’s not a big restaurant but very pleasant and warm. The waiter was very friendly and when asked was happy to give recommendations. The menu was varied with options for all. The food was delicious and very well presented. The red wine was also fab and served at room temperature. I would recommend this friendly reasonably priced restaurant to anyone although probably best to book in advance at weekends as it is not big. Top marks from a very happy customer.

Beautiful location, fantastic friendly and efficient service, good menu, super generous portions. This is a tiny place with probably only 24 covers, so book ahead as it’s popular, due presumably to its status on Tripadvisor. It is slightly incongruous to its surroundings but a refreshing change to eat Mediterranean food and take a break from pub grub in this area.

What a fabulous meal with the best experience! Ruben, our server, was a delight and very attentive. The food was delicious, and the ambience perfect! Best meal we’ve had in the Cotswolds this trip! We couldn’t have asked for more!

Great food and friendly service

We had a delivery last week and it was amazing!! 5 stars. Had it again tonight and it was disappointing. The food was cold, the meat was dry and tasted like it had been left out for hours. Such a shame as it was so good last week - perhaps it’s because they’re busier on a Friday. Cold good, dry crusty meat, limp salad - not sure we’ll order again now

Visited on New year's eve around lunch time whilst exploring the area and we were so lucky they had a table for us. The food was to die for and the service was brilliant. Really wish I didn't live 3.5 hours away!!

Awful Moussaka, dry, bland and difficult to find any aubergines within this dish. Not even on one occasion was I asked if everything was okay. My only choice of dessert wasn't available. I paid up and left, not that any worker seemed bothered. Shame, it looked a nice quaint restaurant upon entering but shall not be returning.

This is a lovely cosy Greek restaurant especially if you enjoy Greek food, however they did not play any Greek music at all. The background music was a load of rubbish and spoilt the Greek feel. Food was lovely, however my Feta & Hallomi Saganiki was much too salty and I couldn't eat any of it. The other meals that friends had were lovely, enjoyable and eaten.
