Go here instead of the chains up the hill! Food is yummy, good service and it's nice and spacious for a pram as well. The bacon paratha is really yummy too
Asked for a table without a booking. The restaurant was mostly empty. Was told they couldn’t fit us in as tables were booked and they were short staffed by a miserable manager.
Are down the road and walked past an hour later to the place being even quieter.
Will not bother in future. It’s a shame as the manager the previous time from Maidstone said he was trying to help T Wells as it was underperforming be better.
Used this coffee shop a few times to meet friends for breakfast/coffee. Dogs welcome and outside area is lovely in good weather. Inside area gives lovely views across the orchards.
However, service and staff welcome is hit and miss. Limited menu and over usual prices. I think they are aiming at the incumbent DFL population........
The three visits I have made I have not felt particularly welcoming. There is no greeting from the staff behind the counter and they barely acknowledge even when you order, bring the order to your table or clear away.
The hospitality (albeit a coffee shop) is a difficult industry and there are lots of other great coffee shops/cafes in the area as an alternative with warmer welcomes.
Breakfast was good but a long wait - 40 minutes for 2 x scrambled egg.
We'd wanted to try the tacos as we'd heard how good they are. They did not disappoint, we tried 3 different ones between us. My husbands favourite was Chicken Chipotle Taco and mine was the beef brisket taco.
The staff were very friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious tasty food. Thank you Mexican Dan and team.
Just got a takeaway and honestly the chicken was inedible. I think cooked & refrozen (and then cooked again). Whatever the cooking process, it’s not good. Weird freezer-burn taste and tough. I’ve been there once before & it was the same. Tried tonight as my couldn’t get to my usual takeaway as the A21 is closed. Was persuaded by some recent good reviews - curry houses have bad nights etc. Food is quite 90’s - sweet packet-derived sauces etc. Don’t mind that too much as takeaway is more about a night off. But the chicken. Guys come on - just cook it fresh. People have taste buds and I think value their health. given we’re in lockdown you can’t rely on a hoard of smashed idiots (me in non-lockdown) falling in to your curry house. Should be one star really. Staff are really nice so feel bad about putting this here. However, I’ll be the first to come back if you start cooking nice meals. You are after all the only curry house in cranbrook. However keep producing crap like I’ve just eaten and you’ll go bust.
I witnessed a staff member report to the police that a client had a couple of beers!! Coming into the festive season, be sure not to got to your car if you have had a couple even to get anything out of it, as the staff are wacthing you!! Disgraceful!!
Good ingredients but cold and worst poached egg I have ever seen.
Service is non existent!!!
How they had the nerve to serve this is beyond me…
On a positive it is clean and toilet okay.
We went for a special birthday lunch with a guest who is very hard of hearing. A table in a quiet alcove had been booked to cater for his disability. When we arrived, on time, this table had been given to others, seriously detracting from the experience. Whilst the staff on duty were friendly and helpful, there were not enough of them; the service was slow. Apart from the main course fish, the portions were very small. This particularly applies to the thimbleful of mushy peas served to my wife. The expense of refurbishment of this restaurant was wasted. The venue is letting down the reputation of Tunbridge Wells. We will not visit again.
Not up to usual Pret standards. Service was disinterested and surly, only 2pm but very little choice left in the racks. The sandwich and baguette we chose were both quite dry and tired, only the coffee was ok.
I brought my granddaughter to The Trough for breakfast, having visited previously and enjoyed my trip.
I didn't think that the coffee tasted good and wasn't presented well. We had a mini breakfast and a full English, the service was prompt, though I didn't feel that the breakfast was good value, namely the poached eggs where flat and not hot, bacon was so dry found it difficult to swallow the baked beans were cold along with the toast. A bit disappointed this time.
"Not allowed to use the microwave"
Never heard such a ridiculous excuse, so got cold croissants - but reduced price!
Coffee was v good as large cups (regular)
No cheese scone today.
