Used this coffee shop a few times to meet friends for breakfast/coffee. Dogs welcome and outside area is lovely in good weather. Inside area gives lovely views across the orchards. However, service and staff welcome is hit and miss. Limited menu and over usual prices. I think they are aiming at the incumbent DFL population........ The three visits I have made I have not felt particularly welcoming. There is no greeting from the staff behind the counter and they barely acknowledge even when you order, bring the order to your table or clear away. The hospitality (albeit a coffee shop) is a difficult industry and there are lots of other great coffee shops/cafes in the area as an alternative with warmer welcomes. Breakfast was good but a long wait - 40 minutes for 2 x scrambled egg.

Whilst they are undoubtedly the best jam doughnuts in these parts. The recent hike from £1.30 (which was expensive) to £2 will no doubt improve my waistline… this is indicative of the prices throughout the shop. The quality is fantastic but I wonder if the owners of Hartley think they are located in Knightsbridge?

The restaurant is part of the farm shop. Around the back with nice terraces and seats in and outside. The food, breakfast and lunch is delicious, well presented! We went for breakfast almost every morning, also really nice coffee!! When you finish it is worthwhile to visit the shop!! Cheese counter, butcher and a bakery with all kinds of fresh bread and pastries!!

Disappointing. It used to be so good. Cafe is chaotic, despite the number of people in the queue, you are first or fifth a long wait. Staff are chatting with each other, little attention to detail. Food is nice but over priced. The farm shop since covid is disappointing. Way overpriced. Bread only lasts a day, cakes look good but are tasteless. Outside of carrots and green veg, the veg is generally not fresh. The staff on the deli and meat counter are extremely offended if you interrupt their personal chatter or go and seek them out to assist you after standing there for ten minutes or more. Our experience after going there for many years, We will not be going back.

We are fairly new to the area, and have driven past this place a few times. Anyway, this Sunday we had decided to pop in for lunch and a wander around the shop. The restaurant area was busy, we found somewhere to sit and I went up and ordered, this was at 5 mins to 1pm. I ordered a fry up and poached eggs on toast, simple stuff with a coffee, was expensive at over £24. We were told that the wait was roughly 30 minutes, fair enough we had a coffee and chatted. I noticed two other couples staring into space on tables near us, no one had food. After a while we wondered what was happening, 4 people running about and some just chatting behind the till and one man who seemed to be doing all the cooking, he shouted 'service' every now and then and the other staff woke up and collected the food, he even shouted out 'aplogises for the wait' to us all sitting there. I looked at my watch, 40 mins, then 50 mins still waiting. Then we hit just past the hour we had been waiting, my son said 'lets go, this is ridiculous' and I went up to the till and asked where our food was,? the server apologised and then said it will be here in a minutes? really we had waited over an hour. Not good enough, our Sunday was spoilt, I asked for a refund which I got. We did not waste anymore time even looking around the shop. I would not put money in this company's pocket. We will not be stopping here again, and will happily drive past. No customer service, or concern about keeping people waiting - Appalling we will go elsewhere where we a valued and spend our time and money there. May I suggest the Unicorn pub in Marden, top notch roast in less than 30 mins.

I hadn’t been to this coffee shop for a long time although living locally as our previous experience of surly customer service there had been so off putting. This was my first visit since its refurbishment, which is a huge success. It’s very tasteful, with an emphasis on pale colours, effective use of wood and original pendant lighting. The immediate view is of apple orchards, but there is a far reaching vista for miles and miles. There’s a spacious deck outside available for warmer days. I only had tea and a croissant, so can’t judge the quality of the rest of the food on the menu. However, my croissant was very fresh and flaky. Tea was a bag in a mug, and like another reviewer I would have preferred a pot. The best change from previous visits however was that I was greeted by a smiling young lady and thanked for my custom! I won’t hesitate to call again and hope my experience will be as pleasant in the future. It seems from previous recent reviews that this cafe mustn’t get too complacent!

Waited 35 minutes for 2 paninis, after watching other customers get their food when they ordered after us I asked about ours. Turns out we had been forgotten about entirely. Only one member of staff offered me an apology - whilst another said bluntly “do they still want it”, rather than ask me directly when I was standing just a few ft away - and the others just looked totally disinterested. Are you joking? Dreadful service, and wish I could rate the food but clearly the staff couldn’t be bothered.

Since the system has changed to table service, it took staff nearly twenty minutes to take our order this morning. Many customers were obviously frustrated at the wait, especially when the member of staff who was on the till and taking order was standing behind counter Eating and chatting with take away customers and members of staff ! We only got served in the end because we stood up and asked if someone would take our order.

Whilst cycling up from Rye we stopped off at the lovely coffee house side of this farm shop for refreshments in the garden. The coffee shop was quite busy but they had quite a few members of staff taking care of business. We were all quite hungry and thirsty because of some punctures en route the journey had taken longer than planned.I asked for a large slice of cake and a pot of tea, I asked three people in the end, before I realised on the third occasion they didn't serve at the counter, only the tables outside. My tea arrived quickly and cake a few minutes afterwards. Tea was good and strong, perfect for me. Cake slice, although delicious was quite modest, I asked if there were bigger slices available and was told no and the waiter swiftly got on with his business before I could order anything else What a beautiful place, we were there on a sunny day, children playing in the fields, lots of adherence to social distancing. Polite staff (although busy), there were lots of other tasty looking things on the menu, can't wait to pop back and try, but I will try and turn up when they're not as busy

Wow, just finished dinner and I have to write a thank you to Hartley Farm Shop, where I bought the main ingredients. The beef was amazing - their butcher knows what he's doing. But the cheese - blimey, they really, really know what they are doing. I often get cheese from here, and I'm never disappointed. Good recommendations, great sourcing, friendly, intelligent service - you can trust them and take their advice and you will not be disappointed. I've just had a Banon, a superb goats cheese, never eaten it before, it's not cheap, but yes, I will be eating it again!Very good farm shop, top butcher, easily the best deli/cheese counter you'll find anywhere within 100 miles! Made the fatal mistake of calling in here this morning just after 8am as had a fairly long journey to complete and wanted a coffee to go. Cafe was open and a staff member present but she told me that I couldn’t be served until 8.30. I asked if as she was there and I was there if she could just find it in herself to let me buy a coffee but no, not until 8.30. It was my error that I thought opening times were from8am but in view of the awful last few months for all of us and especially small businesses and hospitality, I would have thought a smile, a bit of Christmas cheer and some excellent customer service would have been the way to go. #awfulcustomerservice #noservicewithasmile #nochristmasspirit

Freshly made to order sandwich so the wait was a little longer than we wanted. Bit difficult to manoeuvre a wheeled walking aid to the toilets. Passaged barred by brooms/mops/bins. Very little space and certainly not the required social distance space to enter or leave. Oh well, it it what it is.

Visited yesterday to do some shopping in the farm shop. All was going well until I tried to purchase from the deli. I waited patiently to be served whilst the assistant had her self propped up against the back wall playing with her phone. i raised my hand to attract her attention but to no avail, I continued to wait patiently and so in the end I asked the nice butcher if anyone was serving, he looked to the assistant who i then informed him she was only interested in playing on her phone. finally her attention was attracted to only be told by the assistant 'you have to ask if you want to be served'. Unbelievable is the customer service Hartyley's provide and if so should they not put up a notice explaining how to receive service. Obviously my custom wasn't valued so I put my shopping basket down and left the shop. Come on Hatley's you can do better than this, it so lets down the other departments in your shop and coffee house Completed my shopping at Silcocks Farm shop where I didn't have to ask to be served and was treated like a valued customer.

What a find! One of the best farm shops we’ve ever visited. A huge range of food - fresh fish, meat, cheese, bread, deli, jams, sauces, biscuits, etc. What was especially good was the large range of top quality fresh fruit and vegetables (so often either a limited choice, or of poor quality in many farm shops).Yes, some of the prices may be a little high however I’d rather pay for quality. We also visited the cafe - really good coffee and perhaps the best blueberry muffin I’ve ever had (full of fresh fruit!).

This is a review for the farmshop only as I haven't been into the coffee shop. There is a wide range of fresh produce here and a great bakery. The staff seemed polite and very hard working especially the baker when I visited. So in that regard it's faultless. However with exception to the price of the bakery the other items in store especially the cheeses and general grocery (ie herbs, sauces and packet items) it's ridiculous. I mean totally astronomical. I found myself in the end walking round chuckling to myself at the extortionate prices. Needless to say I left disappointed and empty handed. I totally understand farmshops can't compete with supermarkets but this was far higher than I'd pay at other farmshops. Still it seemed full of well spoken people who obviously had the income to support it so good luck to them.

What's not to like about this place? The sweeping views of the fishing ponds alongside the array of Apple trees make a perfect setting for a hot mug of coffee and a slice of cake or one of their many food options. I don't understand why people complain about the staff from reading the reviews! They have always been really friendly to me and my friends. Some people have obviously never worked in the catering business and don't understand how hard it can be to smile or keep track on who's entering and leaving the building! Coffees are always lovely there, same as the cakes. Food there is always very nice there both breakfast and lunch. One of my favourite places to go to. Amazing food/drink, friendly staff. Some people just have to be more understanding and respectful, and remember if you are in a foul mood or act rude towards the staff who are serving you don't be surprised if they don't treat you like a high priest, because I bloody wouldn't, would you? Course not!

My partner works for a food distribution company and he recognised some of the cakes as being ones that they sell. There are also pies that are on the counter that seem to be the Higgidy brand that are sold in supermarkets. The cafe doesn't state it's all homemade by any means, it's just I prefer places that do all their own food.

My partner and I visited the coffee shop for what we hoped would be a late lunch, we arrived at 15:20 and seeing that it was open until 16:00 thought that would be sufficient time for a sandwich. We walked in to stand at the counter for a good few minutes being completely ignored by 5 members of staff. Before our eyes the food we would have ordered was hastily take away still with no acknowledgement of our standing there. Eventually we were addressed by the older woman who appeared to be in charge, my partner tried to order first a panini to be told “no we have stopped hot food we close in half an hour” I then asked for a bacon tart and she “you will have to have it cold” I did say to my partner at this point shall we not bother. Anyway he then had a performance ordering a pork pie that she would only offer with coleslaw which he hates even thought they had taken lots of other lovely looking salads away 5 mins earlier.

I visited about 3 days ago with my mum, dad, sister, grandpa and grandma for my mother's birthday. We each had a hartley breakfast with my sister and mother having a smoked salmon and toast. The toast that came for my sister was in fact burnt literally charcoal black whereas everyone elses was toasted fine. The sausage in my full english breakfast was slightly tough aswell was the bacon, the egg, beans, muchrooms and tomato were great though. For just over £6 something I was disappointed about not having another sausage or more beans etc and the quality of all of it. Half the breakfasts came 5 mins before the others so the timing wasn't the best but wasn't terrible. Other than those things I would maybe visit again and it was a pleasant experience.

Really nice coffee and big slices of cake. Plus really nice to sit overlooking the apple trees despite it being winter. Service was very efficient, but I didn't feel the warmth and friendliness of the server .., I would have preferred a smile and upbeat approach.

Lovely views, friendly staff and delicious cake. Variety of coffee, milk shakes and water available without having to ask. During the summer the water was iced which was very welcoming.

I have visited twice now. We stopped on way past and was impressed with the meat available. We decided to make a special trip to purchase some more burgers the use by date was about 1 week. I was surprised on the length but thought they know best. 2 days after purchasing I took burgers out to cook and they were all growing mould on them. I was so disappointed and they were not cheap. Due to distance I was unable to return them.

Excellent food with a wide choice of healthy options and a large selection of fresh salads. Also choice of sandwiches, toasted sandwiches and panini. Once the meal finished there is a shop on the side where you can buy a variety of interesting food, chutneys and so on. Lovely place

I visit here on a semi regular basis and can't fault the food or service. There's always a selection of fresh salads, cakes, toasties etc and a wide range of coffees and drinks to wash it down nicely with! I've met my friends with their children here before with no issues. Free parking is a bonus and the shop next door means it's easy to pick bits up before heading home. The views are lovely and on a sunny day sitting outside on the veranda area is a great sun trap.

I have visited the coffee shop on a few occasions and have actually enjoyed a cake and coffee here in the past. Sadly it wasn't really up to scratch today. It all seemed a bit chaotic. Having got there at just after midday was told there were no paninis left. They couldnt cook eggs at this time. Then told there was a panini left. I ordered a brie and red onion one. When it eventually arrived I sort of wish i hadn't ordered it. Bland. Undercooked and just poor. The side salad had a token drizzle of what appeared to be a balsamic reduction. The food was very slow coming out. No cutlery out or given and when I did get them from the counter the fork I was given was dirty. In fairness it was a little busy and it has been better in the past. The farm shop is very good so such a shame it wasnt so good today. The cakes are usually brilliant but no choc cake or victoria sponge...now that was a disappointment! Will still come back though as am sure they will improve as they always take on all reviews.

We were looking forward to visiting this coffee shop, but so disappointed. We ordered cheese and onion toasties, which took forever to be served to us, the girls behind the counter were too busy gossiping amongst themselves. When the toasties did arrive all it was was thin sliced loaf of a cheap quality and no garnish, it was most uninteresting. Also a lady ordered a salad and stated she must not have nuts, and what happened it was served to her with nuts. So we were so disappointed with the service and food.

I regularly use this place for one to one business meetings or just a lovely place to come and have lunch or cake & do some shopping.Gorgeous relaxed venue with lovely friendly staff and scrummy food. Not junk food, good wholesome organic food that is super tasty The place has a nice feel to it.. quite regularly I see others working from their iPads or laptops drinking coffee and feeling undisturbed and unhurried. It's always a pleasure to go there and is thoroughly recommended

Dropped in for Sunday "brunch" and what a great place. Very busy coffee shop attached to the deli/farm shop. There is inside and outside seating. Super quiet, with views over the fields. Food is superb. For a busy shop the service is good. Massive car park. Reasonable price as well

Have visited here for breakfast and for coffee and cake. Both visits were very nice and the quality of the food and drinks excellent. Amazing view over the Kent hop fields, making for a very nice experience both times. The only thing I did note is that the crashing and banging of plates , mugs, coffee cups by the team as they prepare the orders can be a little over bearing sometimes, but appreciate they do have a job to do !!!! Would definately recommend this cafe !

Have popped in here a few times. Each time I seem to have been disappointed in some way. The staff always seem uninterested. I popped in twice hoping to get a cream tea. The first time they didn't have the scones. The second time they didn't have the cream. Another time they forgot my salad and I had to go up as request it again. Overall, never really had the best experiences here. Wouldn't recommend.

Stopped at the Hartley coffee house for lunch last Saturday, the latte was exceptional, best that I've had in a long time. My Husband had a chicken a bacon sandwich, which went down a treat not only with him but also our dog as there so much hand carved chicken. The bread was super fresh and cooked on the premises. We also found some great gift bargains in the adjoining shop.Team are super friendly not only to us but also the dog. A real pleasure, - we'll be back.

my husband and I stopped for lunch at the Hartley Coffee Shop, staff rude when the food turned up it was uninteresting, a scotch egg on a plate with no knife or fork, just the sc and the coffee ordered, when enquiring where was the rest of the lunch, we were abruptly told salad is extra! most rude, disappointing and the coffee was terrible, cold.

Stopped here recently with a friend as was recommended it! Was looking forward to a real treat as heard good things. Farmshop was lovely, very busy. However a bit disappointed with the lunch, my friend and I both ordered the ham and mozzarella panini, it came with salad. The mozzarella was cold, hadn't been melted and the ciabatta panini was as dry as anything. Which was a shame as it's local to us.

As said in title I had the grilled vegetable panini and a black Americano Coffee as having stopped whilst driving through the area - see photoThe Coffee was a very good flavour and the panini was tasty although was a little bit doughy but that is just a personal viewpoint They also do a number of other dishes to choose from and have a great view from the windows in the Coffee HouseThis also goes straight into the Farm Shop which is a good size and sells items of good quality Recommended and would use here again if in the area just to try something else from the menu!

Great little farm cafe with delicious food and decent coffee. Views out over the apple orchard and you can sit either inside or outside, which is delightful in the sunshine! Farm Shop is worth a visit with a verified wide range of home cooked, local and natural organic products. And it's quite reasonably priced. It getting busy so you might have to wait at peak times..

Driving past looking for somewhere for breakfast and found this place. Ordered breakfast and drinks and a cake for my wife. Breakfast came very quickly and was hot and good quality ingredients but there was no sign of drinks and cake! My wife ended up asking about them, as I had finished my breakfast, and unfortunately they had been forgotten! On the whole very good but a little disorganised.

Was passing by and decided to stop for a quick coffee. Lovely coffee shop, very friendly staff. Had more than just a coffee in the end, my husband had the full breakfast and I had scrambled eggs on toast. Both were wonderful, great sausage, all well cooked. Lots of toast, my husband asked if he could pay for a packet of marmalade to finish off his toast and they handed him a small jar which they would not take payment for. No sachets of ketchup or HP they give you a bottle and you can help yourself to as much as you want. We sat by a window overlooking an orchard and the beautiful Kent countryside. The plus side to the coffee shop is that there is a farm shop attached with wonderful food, meat and bakers, needless to say we bought quite a few things, the carrot cake was excellent! Wish we lived nearer we would use regularly.

As a regular visitor I can highly recommend this Coffee House. The service is good and the staff are always friendly, Karen always recognises us when we walk in (a rare thing these days) and makes us feel welcome. Their light lunches are very good and presented well! What could be better than sitting having lunch looking out over a beautiful country orchard!

Visiting the area and was recommended by our B&B host. Rang in advance to book a table and we did ask if there were veggie options as one of us is vegetarian. We were told there were but not as many as the meat and fish options. When we arrived there was only one vegetarian main course of Arranchini I asked if there was anything else and was told there wasn’t much call for veggie food there. Food was okay, expensive for the portion size and served without the option for extra vegetables, salads or breads. Decidedly average
