The best restaurants serving Default food in St Marks Rother South East

We were there for my birthday and as we're local I wanted so much to enjoy it. Calamari to start was okay, although it wasn't freshly made and looked from frozen. I had the chicken cacciatore and the chicken had been cooked separately from the thin tomato sauce. I've cooked this dish before, and it involves slow cooking chicken in the tomato sauce and olives to bring out a rich and thick flavoured sauce. It's so disappointing when you eat out for a special occasion and could have eaten better at home. However, I do hope the restaurant is a success as it is obviously popular and perhaps I chose the wrong meal?

Wonderfully friendly staff, delicious selection of food cakes and pastries. Lovely tea! Our local go to now in the heart of little common.

7 of us enjoyed a birthday celebration meal here recently and were really pleased we decided to come here. Service was friendly and attentive. Great menu and everything we ate was warm, freshly made and delicious! Highly recommend and we will come back.

Lovely place for brunch. Friendly welcome and fresh, well-cooked food. Perfect when travelling through on the way from Hastings to Worthing, as right on A259.

Great food and good live music, what's not to like!

Lovely cake and coffee/tea. Served by excellent staff. We were made to feel welcome with our two dogs. Warm and luxurious ambience. It felt quite special.

Despite being a fair distance from the restaurant we ordered takeaway and it was delivered well under the hour and ten minute time given. Arrived in just over half an hour and food was piping hot and delicious.

Worst Chinese I've ever had dumplings dry and deffently really old and rank, the dipping sause for them is just malt vinegar with some ginger thrown on top. Duck with fresh mango was like jelly and rated rancid friends chow main was OK apparently

I ordered Haddock and chips and only got chips young lad severing me just didn't listen.

Excellent quality beers. Excellent service. I have not had any food yet. I hope to soon. Will pop in this week for food. And one of my five a day.

Loved this bar on the beach. Comfy deck chairs, a great view, with a drink and chilled music. Very worth a visit.

We were an extended family of ten.We are regulars as we live nearby and in the past have generally been satisfied but unfortunately things did not go well today. We ordered drinks but they took half an hour to arrive. The meal choices had been given some time previously giving the names of who was ordering what but clearly the staff were totally unaware.They arrived with two starters but didn’t know who they were for.We had to struggle to remember what we had chosen weeks ago.Then another two arrived.Eventually there were still two starters outstanding but the time they arrived everyone else had finished.Exactly the same happened with the main courses and the wine that was supposed to go with the mains was so late in coming that we rejected it as no longer required.My main of salmon was very poor as it was fishy,overcooked and dry.This service shambles was repeated with the desserts. We complained to the manager who cancelled the service charge on the bill and reduced the drinks prices by 50% but this did not compensate for the disappointment on a special occasion. We like to come to this hotel but the quality of the food and service has to improve and they must recognise that patrons on the same table must all receive their food at the same time.This is fundamental restaurant procedure. We have already previously booked for New Year’s Eve so this is going to be make or break as to whether we and all our friends and acquaintances maintain their custom at this hotel.

Delicious food and lovely helpful young staff. Ordered chips on top but not needed as portions were good. Had a really nice time there.

Amazing price of £10 for three courses on a fish Friday. The service was efficient, food good and ambience fine. We can't work out how the Star Inn can keep the prices so very reasonable. Definitely recommend and will visit again if in the area.
