Nice place to stay, lovely location on the beach. Decent enough room, breakfast, and dinner were fine, although not many dinner options available. My partner enjoyed the spa, and overall, we had a great time.

I went to the spa at this hotel, and it was gorgeous. The staff are so lovely and the massage therapists were excellent. I had a couples massage with my partner and we both loved every minute of it. Totally recommend. And the view where this hotel is, is beautiful right on the seafront! 5 starts from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A luncheon here surprised. The position right on the beach provided a fine (if chilly in late September) backdrop to a meal with friends. From a reasonable menu, homemade chicken pie was well stuffed although less than crisp pastry suggested reheating to get it to table. Lamb shanks were favoured by our party, too. Service was good and willing in surroundings which appeared to be recently refurbished.

We went for Sunday lunch. The staff are amazing and it's a lovely place. The kids fish and chips we thought should have had some sort of peas or veg with it. Same as the roast, some greens would have been nice. But that said my beef was amazing but my wife's chicken was a bit cold. All in all a pleasant meal that could have been better for the price..

Great hotel right by the sea. Own parking spaces available. Rooms not too big, functionally furnished and very clean. Breakfast is served as a buffet with a good selection. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Dinner was also great, but the prices were a bit high. Unfortunately there is a lot of traffic in front of the door. If you sleep with the window open and have a room directly on the street, you can expect noise early in the morning.

I visited on Bank Holiday Monday to get something to eat. Signage poor, meaning I had to ask someone where the restaurant was. I then stood by the attached sign, waiting over 10 minutes, with no acknowledgement from anyone. Two girls were seated drying cutlery and a chap was serving at the bar. Not a single bit of engagement from anyone. I decided. that clearly my business was not wanted. On leaving, I passed the woman who had previously provided directions to the restaurant. I established she worked there and explained the situation, but that did not stir her. She remained seated behind her laptop. For the service industry, this is totally unacceptable. I noticed signs about being " cashless". I would add clueless. The hotel must be very proud of these employees

Really nice beachfront hotel, literally on the beach and very close to the train station. Been for coffee . Order a mid morning fruity tea cake delightfully served with butter and a generous dollap of jam. Not eaten lunch there yet but sitting out front admiring the coastal scenery is my idea of heaven. Service is good if a little frosty from one waitress. Great place for family outings, weddings or leisurely Sunday lunch. Hotel has spa treatments but I really wish they had a swimming pool.

My in-laws recently held their 50th wedding anniversary party at the Cooden Beach. I cannot praise all of the staff highly enough. The food and service was outstanding. Particularly impressive the food all came out looking and tasting fantastic, and remained hot which is difficult to do serving so many people at once. A special mention to Sam who seemed to be at all places at once making sure the party went smoothly, and again at breakfast the next day. She effortlessly helped with everything and ensured the party went as well as it did. She must have been exhausted, but always smiling and friendly, an absolute star!

We only went in for coffee and cake and although the place was very quiet they had to clean a table for us, and as other tables were being vacated no one came to clear them. Service was slow, no customer/staff interaction, everything came out in dribs and drabs, there was only two choices of cake which could have been fresher, (and the cake appeared 20 minutes after the tea/coffee when we asked if it had been forgotten) very lacklustre and shoddy for a place of their calibre, and I was astonished at the cost when we came to pay. Not for me thank you.

We ate in the tavern and had standard pub grub but cooked well. Tasty and always good to see food cooked in front of you as the kitchen is exposed. The food isn't cheap but you wouldn't expect that at CBH.Sometimes the atmosphere is ruined by the large TV that always seems to be showing football. Annoying.

We were very impressed by 'The Bistro' back in October. We hadn't booked but nevertheless were welcomed by Beth who immediately showed us to a comfortable table with a view of the sea. This, plus the excellent food and service, prompted us to revisit for lunch today with friends from the North of England. The 4 of us were looked after by André who served us Harvey's local Sussex beer. We each had a different dish ( fish and chips; liver and bacon; swordfish and the vegetarian tomato/blue cheese/walnut tart.) André's service is an asset to Cooden Beach. He is multilingual, friendly and efficient. The view superb was glorious and the food outstanding.

We live near here and feel fortunate to have this hotel and restaurant nearby.Today we dined in the Tavern as we had our son's dog with us.As always the food was gorgeous. My husband Stephen had the steak and mushroom pudding which he said was the best he had had when eating out. A pint of Harvey's too to go with the meal.I had barbecued chicken from the specials board which was perfectly cooked. Lime and soda as I was the driver.I often say this about the Cooden beach because it is important to me. The loos are spotless as are the washbasins.Lots of mirrors and tissues and a chair just how ladies loos/powder rooms should be.The staff are lovely and remember their guests which is important. Today although it was busy Jamie still treated all diners in a kind and helpful way. The female Tavern manager was lovely as always as was her female colleague. It just shows that good service and food do still exist and in a venue overlooking the sea.

Came here with hubby, son, sister-in-law and mother-in-law. Sat outside on the beach facing area, great location and food looked promising from what we could see being delivered. Two of us had local cod and chips, two had ciabatta with smoked salmon and crab and son had burger. Burger was dry and quite bland, he didn’t finish it, citing he was full ( mother-in-law was paying so he didn’t want to upset her), the fish was lovely in the fish and chips but peas and chips only ok. The ciabatta and smoked salmon with crab was again ok. The menu is very limited and everything is medium to high price - £14 for fish and chips. Waiters and waitresses were run off their feet which meant a couple of short answers when we enquirer about more forks ( you have to get them yourselves but there were none left) and napkins. We wouldn’t go again I’m afraid.

Visited friends in Cooden who took us to the restaurant as a treat. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated very quickly. After ordering drinks we were given the menu, which was well laid out, clearly showing meat, fish and vegetarian dishes in separate columns. The variety and choice was very good. I had salt and pepper calamari to start and it was tender and delicious. My wife had the crab salad which was fresh and very tasty. For main course I had the calves liver, three large slices of tender liver on a bed of mash - tasted really good. My wife had the veal in mushroom sauce with dauphinoise potatoes which she said was the best food she had tasted in ages. I declined a dessert but my wife and our friends ordered ice cream desserts which, when they arrived, were huge and apparently very nice.

We drove down on Easter Sunday for my husband's birthday lunch with our 10 year old son. Really busy so good job I'd booked! Extensive menu catering for all tastes inc specials - salads, sandwiches, burgers, chicken, fish and the exceptional stone steak. I chose this place specifically for the steak for hubby's birthday treat - an 8oz fillet steak you cook to your own taste on a hot stone. He wasn't disappointed! Have never heard so many mmmmmms! My fish & chips (tempura batter, yum) and son's chicken burger were devoured equally as enthusiastically. Lovely setting overlooking the beach though the Tavern area is on the side, not seafront. Brasserie menu looked as good so I think we'll go there next time. Staff very welcoming and attentive. Manager even said hello to everyone in the busy eatery. The new cavern has definitely brought the venue into the 21st century, bright and airy with some great features and furniture. However, the prices at the bar are reflective of a recent upgrade to the premises, I have never paid so much for a round of two drinks ( even in large cities across the world!) 1 pint of lager ( around £4.50) no issue here, but a whopping £8 for a 200ml 'tiny' bottle of prosecco! Come on!!! I have put this down as a place to eat more than a place to relax and have a drink as the extreme prices of drinks interspersed with something decent to eat may make the whole experience slightly more palatable.

We live locally so on a beautiful sunny day, thought it would be lovely to have some lunch here. We were both so very disappointed with the food. The chicken in my Caesar salad was so dry, the cheddar on my husbands plate looked as though it had been left out or uncovered as is was hard around the edges and the bread was definitely a day or so old as was also dry. The wife booked this as a surprise last night, and it was the first time for both of us. We had friends who said they had eaten here and recommended it.Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant was spotlessly clean. Reasonably busy for a Thursday night.I ordered the "Stone Steak" with a portion of prawns on the side, my wife went for the Haddock and chips with mushy peas. Also had a side of onion rings between us.The steak was absolutely gorgeous, lovely piece of fillet that seemed considerably larger than the advertised 8oz. Needless to say, I didn't complain! It was perfection, Beautifully lean and tender. The chips and side salad that accompanied it were good too. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her fish and chips some of the freshest fish she had eaten in a while. I followed up with a slice of lemon cheesecake, the wife deciding on an Irish coffee. Couple of pints of Grolsch and two large glasses of white for the wife and a total bill of £56.00.Not bad at all and I'd thoroughly recommend as somewhere different to go in Bexhill.

We arrived here by accident rather than design and we were glad that we did. We had a table with an excellent view out over the sea. I had Fish of the day which was salmon with hollandaise sauce and pawns. It was very nice though I find having to buy a side dish for vegetables very strange. M had rib eye with pepper sauce which he enjoyed. But the desserts were excellent. White chocolate and raspberry cheesecake was yum and the orange pudding was lovely too. Nice to see some different dishes on the menu, not the same as every other restaurant. A lovely evening, thank you.

The Cooden Tavern is located in the Cooden Beach Hotel, a fine well-run beach front property just outside of Little Common/Bexhill, with what you could call a select and discerning clientele. The fare is uncomplicated and well prepared, with a friendly and efficient service. I would suggest for the fresh-fish-loving community to look for restaurants in Pevensy for a wider choice of fresh fish and seafood, but the Cooden tavern does well to cater for discerning diners who appreciate the fact that this hotel has commanding and uninterrupted views of the coast, and guarantees quality in every respect. You must check out the motor racing gallery at the rear entrance to the hotel, as it has superb photos from the turn of the century - 1904/1905 - showing the 'Home of British Motor Racing' in it's infancy. A real treasure!

My partner and I stopped off for morning coffee whilst touring the area and were delighted at the amazing setting right on the beach. Staff were helpful and professional although the coffee was a tad expensive but you are paying for the setting.

Not a huge menu for the bar food, but whatever you choose is extremely good.Great place to sit out by the sea front.Service is very friendly. Can recommend, and will definitely go there again..just one small thing..would have preferred a plate to eat off rather than a slate, as food kept falling off the edges.

We had a family meal at the Cooden Tavern recently. We weren't sure what to expect, but it was a really good experience. The Tavern is a little lacking in atmosphere and the view of flats across the road is less than inspiring (unlike the beach-front terrace), but it's very clean and comfortable; service was friendly too. The menu is limited but all the meals we ordered were great. I completely get what some folk have said about £13 being very expensive for a burger: it is, but the dish was executed perfectly (which it absolutely needed to be at that price!). We'd happily eat here again.

Meals are great . But you do have to wait ages for a coffee if you are in the coffee lounge . Very popular place and you can't go wrong going there. They hold lots of weddings etc

I met here to have lunch with an old friend who was staying at the Cooden Hotel with her 6 year old son for the weekend. We decided to eat at the Tavern as they have a children's menu. The children's menu was a little bit limited and my friends son loves fish and chips which was what the adults were having but they didn't offer a child's portion so he ended up having scampi instead which he did enjoy but fish would have been his first choice. The adults fish and chips was good, decent portions, and a choice of either Haddock or Cod. It was tasty and freshly cooked and the fish was very fresh. The chips were good too and the whole thing was nicely presented. I agree that the price of 13.50 is a little steep but we enjoyed what we had. We also loved that the children's ice creams came presented in little animal shaped cups with lids, and my friends son was able to keep his "penguin" as a souvenir. The staff took a little while to wait on us but our food arrived in good time and we then went up to the counter to pay. There were several other families in the tavern and I think this is a better choice than the Hotel Restaurant if you have smaller kids. I would eat here again.

We had another great meal here whilst staying at the hotel for the weekendGreat ambience and the service is first class.Varied menu with many mouth watering dishes including steak on a hot stone which I am told is fabulous. Next time that is what I will have.My partner had the soup, leek and potato which she said was just like home made and served with crusty bread and butterBeing able to take our small dog makes a visit here so relaxing

Food was well presented but overpriced. Fish & chips £13.50 and nothing to write home about. Only one vegetarian dish on the menu and that was £12. Coffee overpriced. Staff not very attentive. Have used this restaurant before and the vegetarian menu has always been minimal - should not have to ask if any other dishes are available.

Cooden is an unlikely location for a Sunday Pub Lunch, but is possible! I believe "The Tavern" was once a pub attached to the Cooden Beach Hotel. Now it provides pub meals and an informal bar to complement the more up-market hotel restaurant at the beach end of the building. We had a family Sunday pub lunch there, and will use it again. The service was excellent and the food at the higher end to expect for the traditional Sunday pub lunch. The real bonus is the location - The Beach.

This place good, for quick meal lunch or dinner. Slightly overpriced but the food tastes good so I thought as long as I enjoyed it, it didn't matter. The place is kept clean and the staff are friendly, I do like the fact that they let us open a tab up behind the bar. It's a ok place. Would go back.

Such friendly and accommodating service. Reserved a table for our group of 10 damp and muddy walkers and made a nice fuss of our dog. The food came quickly and was tasty and we got cake to takeaway too. Maybe a little pricey for what it is but the location is excellent and the service compensates. Would definitely come back.

We have been visiting The Swan for the past 9 months and can honestly say it’s the pub of our dreams. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, the food is exceptional, the beer is amazing, and it retains the old fashioned atmosphere of a proper pub. Thankyou so much Ellie, Mark, Cat and Trudy for making us feel so welcome.
