Such friendly and accommodating service. Reserved a table for our group of 10 damp and muddy walkers and made a nice fuss of our dog. The food came quickly and was tasty and we got cake to takeaway too. Maybe a little pricey for what it is but the location is excellent and the service compensates. Would definitely come back.

Loved this place when we visited Battle. Loads of seating inside and out, rustic and friendly. The Scones are to die for! Made on sight by the elderly team running the Restaurant and Tearoom. Nothing is too much trouble, fabulous service. We bought more scones to take home, but you buy the whole caboodle, take home jam and cream with them. Awesome detailing! Recommended for snacks, the Paninis are excellent I'm told by my partner.

We went in, as the Menu on the outside wall was creating a lot of interest. Very quaint inside, low beamed ceiling, rustic chairs and tables, all very clean and organised. Order and pay area at the far end of the Cafe. Lovely people serving, served by an elderly gentleman, his charm was consistent throughout his service to us and everyone else. Orders were brought to the table with a smile and a bit of chit-chat. Lovely experience. I had a fruit scone and a pot of tea. My partner went for the Toasted Panini. it was all very good. The Scone was to die for. I have never eaten any Scone so divine! Spent an hour here, the service was quick, the cafe was half full and filling up, and the weather was rainy. Ideal position just outside the walls of the front of the Abbey. Certainly a lot cheaper than eating inside the Abbey. The Scones are made on-site, and the scones were to die for... I know I'm repeating myself, but they WERE. So good we got some to take back to the hotel. They are not your usual buy e.g. 2 scones in a bag, they are packed into takeaway boxes, with a jar of Jam and a Jar of Cream. OMG, They were amazing after dinner, sat in our hotel room, nomming away on them! I've tried two now, fruit and plain, they are as good as each other. Massive in height. More like eating a Bath bun for size. Highly recommended. We will return!

Stopped here for a quick bite after visiting the abbey - wished we hadn’t £25 for two decidedly average, dryham and cheese paninis each served with an handful of over-fried chips, not even a hint of a lettuce leaf for aesthetic purposes - which I would have expected at those prices. All washed down with two small overly sugary lemonades Owners definitely following the European model of charging higher prices for food depending on the view No plans to head back there again - would not recommend

A tourist place has a lovely old English house feel with older wolde decor lots of different dishes on the menu outside seating over looking the the castle walls great to just sit with a coffee and a cake and watch the world go by not sure about disabled toilets etc also not tried other foods apart from drinks and cake but what I saw on other customers plates all looked good.parking may be awkward as you have to find one of the public parking areas further up the town.

Lovely breakfast next to the battlefield and abbey. We were lucky enough to snag a table facing the abbey and in sunny weather! I had the soup special of the day which was beef and roasted peppers paired with a ciabatta for £7.90 and it was very comforting. Staff were friendly and cheerful, very good ambience and the medieval style decor was a nice touch! Will come again if visiting Battle

Cosy and welcoming little cafe to pop into for breakfast before a visit to the Abbey. It was a bit chilly in the far end of the cafe, but we moved in front of the fire and this was lovely. Food and drinks were good, but noticeably more expensive than other similar places. We presumed this was for the key location for tourists, a stones throw from the Abbey.

Prime location by the Abbey. Was going to go to a chain coffee shop, but thought we'd spend the money in a local independent place. The cup of teas was nice, the hot chocolate too sweet. Terrible place, clearly a tourist trap just outside the Abbey, TLDR - tried it, it's bad, don't go. It's a lovely place to sit in the sun, and that is where it ends. Whilst the service was friendly, the staff just did not know what they were doing or what was on offer. The sandwiches and baguettes were the cheapest makes of bread you could imagine, filled with the skimpiest and cheapest fillings, we had egg mayo (where was the egg or the majo). Chicken salad with almost no chicken or salad, Tuna Mayo with almost no mayo, a BLT and with the least B L and T you could get away with, but the sting was the price £9+ for most Baguettes each. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere.

Nicely located and pleasantly presented next to the Abbey. The staff were friendly. Good selection of sandwiches and cakes. However its biggest downfall is the prices. The cheese scone and cup of tea cost over £6 and the scone wasn't anything special, there was nothing additional to justify the price. The cream tea had a fruit scone which was described as good by my wife but a small portion of jam and a little jar of whipped cream. Again not good for the over £6 we paid for it. At that price we would have expected clotted cream. Annoyingly the 3 teas we had came in one pot which we hadn't been asked if ok. We just about squeezed 3 cups out of and it didn't come with any additional hot water, Although it was supplied when we asked.

Popped in for a light lunch with family. I'm afraid this is a good example of an establishment that feels because it has a beautiful building and desirable location, it can offer lacklustre service and poor pricing.£8 - £9 for a sandwich is excessive. Especially when the "side salad" is comprised of a quarter or a tomato and a few bits of grated carrot and green leaves. Our order was delivered, but those having soup had no cutlery. We asked the waitress to help and she duly said she would fetch some. We then watched as she went to prepare coffee and cake for another order first. In the end we asked someone else to help us before the soups went cold.Over priced and far better options nearby.

However, that corner can get a little busy with traffic to the car park. My wife and I ordered the veggie breakfast but asked to make it vegan, we were informed that the sausages were vegan, but were later told that they weren't. This was disappointing and as there are so many vegan sausages available on the market, they could substitute these for the veggie ones and provide a more substantial breakfast. Service was polite but could be better. My grandfather asked for condiments and was forgotten about, so had to ask another member of staff. It wasn't a terrible experience and the food was decent, but it could be improved.

We have been to this chip shop twice. Chips taste great and friendly service and spotlessly clean

Only stopped for one drink but what a lovely pub and garden. A good amount of parking. The interior was old wood floors and beams and took me back years with fond memories of times past. Lovely. A huge garden area, accessible from the bar by quite a few steps. There may be other access points? The sun was shining and it was perfect. Two roads run by the side of the pub but any noise was only minor from both. Food is served but I didn't have any on this occasion. Service was with a smile and felt genuinely warm. If, in the area again, I would love to return. Would recommend, at the very least, a quick visit while passing or a longer one if in the area on a visit or holiday.
