Lucy is a very nice and helpful host. In the pub you can drink beer in a rustic atmosphere until 10 p.m. The food is the best we have had in recent years. But be sure to reserve seats for dinner. After 10 p.m. it's quiet and you can sleep with the window open. The mattress on the king-size bed is a bit sagging and should be replaced soon. But she still slept well.

My husband and I, and our two dogs visited the Two Sawyers this weekend whilst staying in the lovely Pett village. We visited for afternoon drinks and were lucky to sit outside in the autumn sunshine and then we returned the following day for an evening meal. This is a wonderful village pub, just a few minutes walk from the local campsite where we stayed. It has a lovely large well-maintained outdoor seating area and inside has a lovely cosy atmosphere in the evening. We were able to take our two dogs into the bar area for our meal. Dogs cannot go into the restaurant but the bar area feels like a little restaurant with nice seating and candles on the tables. My husband had the sausage and mash and I had the burger. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. The food was hot, fresh and plentiful. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was served promptly. We would definitely recommend this pub for food and will return if we’re back in the area.

Visited last Tuesday the 25th June with my brother who had been a regular there during the 1960s when it was run more as a country club by Mike Jackson. Now very much changed with plenty of outdoor seating. Inside the pub is cosy and full of charm with a small but comfortable bar. Drinks were fairly priced and my pint of Harveys superb. We were given the menu but as we hadn't planned to have a full lunch we opted for a bowl of cheesy chips and deep fried Squid - both delicious. Overall a positive experience. The staff were friendly and courteous. We shall be back.

Mum took me here twice on my holiday to visit and when she said it was a cut above the rest she wasn't kidding. The pork roast was hands down one of the best I've had, ever, and the potatoes were done to perfection. The chefs are definitely the real deal. The food here has been some of the best memories of things I ate around East Sussex, so it gets a solid five stars and next time i pop down to visit i hope it's the first place we go to.

What an amazing country pub for Sunday lunch, the setting is picturesque driving through Pett, ample parking, and a beautiful entrance to the bar with an open fire at the bar. The dining area has lovely low ceilings (mind your head), there's a great food selection, the welcome is warm, the service friendly and attentive, and the vegetarian option worthy for a roast beats most other places offering. Chose The Two Sawyers whilst we were in the area for a family get together as they feature a good GF range and are dog-friendly. We experienced a warm welcome and at no time were we hurried to order or eat. The food was fabulous with all seven of us offering a five-star rating. In fact my father said that the sticky toffee pudding was infinitely better than one he had at a Marco Pierre White restaurant a few weeks earlier. As for me, a special mention for the fully loaded chips which were just fabulous. I wish I lived closer so I could make a return visit. I'll certainly make tracks back here next time I'm in the area. 10/10 (in fact 11/10) 😁

A Countryside Gem in Pett Nestled in the serene village of Pett, surrounded by lush green fields and woodlands, and just a short drive from the beach, this pub/BNB offers an unparalleled escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The location itself is picturesque, but it's the amenities and service that truly stand out. Parking is never a concern with their spacious lot, a boon for anyone who's faced the woes of limited parking in popular destinations. The expansive outside area, with its meticulously maintained grounds, provides ample seating options for guests looking to drink in the fresh air and idyllic views. The building, a historic structure from the 1600s, exudes charm and character, giving guests a delightful sense of stepping back in time. Inside, the bar area buzzes with locals, eager to share stories and insights about the area, making it a hub of local culture and camaraderie. The in-house restaurant is another feather in the cap for this establishment. On my visit, I indulged in a fish dish from the specials menu. Perfectly cooked to have a crispy skin, yet maintaining a tender and fluffy interior, it was a testament to the chef's skills. The following day's full English breakfast, complete with locally sourced sausages from a nearby butcher, was generous in portion and rich in flavor. But the pièce de résistance of our culinary experience was the roast dinner. As we awaited our order, the air was filled with rave reviews from fellow diners, amplifying our anticipation. We weren't disappointed. Even at the last sitting, the freshness of the food was evident, with vegetables cooked to perfection and meat that melted in the mouth. The portions were generous, and the taste? Simply the best roast I've had in ages. In conclusion, if you find yourself in Pett and are looking for a place that combines history, hospitality, and haute cuisine, look no further. This pub/BNB is truly a countryside gem. We stayed for three nights. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Access to it, and other bedrooms, was via a steep and difficult stairway. Anyone who is not fully fit and able might find it very difficult to climb. It was disturbing and potentially very dangerous to find a fire door wedged open. Particularly as on three occasions the fire alarm in our bedroom went off and we had to find a member of staff to establish whether or not there was a fire. Apparently smoke in the kitchen was the cause. We had breakfast on three occasions, on two of them the breakfasts were excellent. The poorest breakfast was the first we had and the service was haphazard and the food was over cooked. The cost of accommodation here is not cheap so to just put a notice in the room stating that they can’t be bothered servicing the room during our stay is just not acceptable. We had dinner on our first night, one meal was fine the other was not. The shredded duck salad was spoilt by the duck being so overcooked that it was hard and stringy. Just about edible but not enjoyable.

My husband and I have often had Sunday lunch at The Two Sawyers, one of our favourite local pubs. However, when we lunched there yesterday it was clear the place had changed hands, as several pub classics like steak and kidney pie, had disappeared from the menu, and the only Special was a fish dish which actually wasn't Special because it was already on the main menu. My husband chose roast beef, but his roast potatoes were rock hard and almost black - likewise his Yorkshire pudding. He complained to the waitress that both were inedible and she said there would be no charge for his meal. My chicken Caesar salad promised crispy bacon, Parmesan and anchovies. To my horror, the anchovies used were the white ones in vinegar, not the salted and preserved kind canned in olive oil, as they should have been. The white ones tainted the salad with a fishy flavour. There was one small piece of crispy bacon and no discernible Parmesan. On the plus side, the desserts - apple crumble and crème brûlée - were tasty and generously portioned. But we won't be returning to The Two Sawyers, sadly.

Only stopped for one drink but what a lovely pub and garden. A good amount of parking. The interior was old wood floors and beams and took me back years with fond memories of times past. Lovely. A huge garden area, accessible from the bar by quite a few steps. There may be other access points? The sun was shining and it was perfect. Two roads run by the side of the pub but any noise was only minor from both. Food is served but I didn't have any on this occasion. Service was with a smile and felt genuinely warm. If, in the area again, I would love to return. Would recommend, at the very least, a quick visit while passing or a longer one if in the area on a visit or holiday.

To be honest I had no real idea of what The Bell would be like when I booked it. The location was convenient for a function we were attending elsewhere. What a revelation, this place is amazing. You have to consider that the "project " is ongoing, but this doesn't impact on anything. The standards are great. Service, welcome and the whole experience was amazing. While entering the bedroom, the standard of which it had been decorated and furnished to was just way above what you could have expected. Only down side was that we were only staying the one night.

I've read a few not quite so favourable reviews recently - you can only report as you find, I understand that- so I thought I'd add this one from this evening. Four of us enjoyed a relaxing meal, at reasonable cost (ok, the desserts might be a smidge expensive, but they were nice); main courses of steak and kidney pud (which my friend thought was the best she had probably ever eaten out), giant haddock and chips, which really was pretty sizeable and lovely, Moroccan stew -very tasty with good sides, and belly pork (with which the mustard mash was a highlight) were well cooked and enjoyed by all. A new barrel of Harveys Best had just been tapped, and wine by the glass was good value and quality. Service was exemplary (yes, the pub wasn't that busy, but that doesn't always mean good service). We thoroughly enjoyed our evening - both members of front-of-house staff who looked after us (one apparently being very new) were delightful, and added to our enjoyment.
