Oh, dear………new owners. Visited today to see if things have changed with new owners? Yes, the outside has been cleaned up..but still dead plants and metal bolts in the external planters . Staff friendly and dog friendly. Cask ale…London Pride…was sour and at £5 a pint ….no way, I would have another. Good location but needs to upgrade its offering……….

THE WHATSHEAF.....SHOULD BE CLOSED and undergo a major upgrading - internally and externally, with review of their business objectives- if the owners and management want this limping business to survive for another 5 years! The staff we interacted with on 23/12/2023- displayed poor awareness of cultivating friendly and welcoming customer interactions. No welcome, no thanks for our custom or goodbye- thanks for coming have a nice Christmas. We were like invisible customers who spent over £60 on drinks! The decor is dated (considerinng this pub underwent rennovation a few years ago.) The furnishing is tacky, poorly displayed, uncomfortable and tables were greasy. No timely cleaning by the staff on duty during our visit. The bar counter was greasy plus used glassess were not always cleared in a timely way. The toilets/wc- smelly and needed deep cleaning. Paper towel rack -empty. Carpet leading from the worn front door entrance- unkempt. The few Christmas decorations inside the pub were tacky and poorly displayed, plus the Christmas lights were not even turned on. Television screens were left on in the two main public areas showing football matches- with no consideration that- maybe not all customers wanted to watch the matches with excessive sounds. When the game was over, the tvs were still left on showing Skysports. By then, most of the people who were watching the match, left the pub. It was almost empty from then on. No heating was on in the pub. No other entertainment was offered. It felt like we walked into a dying village pub. The Wheatsheaf has a premeir monopoly location in Bexhill/Little Common - but we all agreed- drastic business survival action plan is needed to save this pub from definite business failure. That would be a sad loss for Bexhill & Little Common. The challenge for the management, owners and staff is...Will they welcome genuine cutsomer observations/feedback..or will they react defensively?

Have driven past this pub hundreds of times and finally got around to stopping in. Well worth it. Super friendly front of house and great food. Lots to choose from on the menu and well priced with deals on most days. Highly recommend the Carolina Reaper chicken wings. We carried on the evening by playing pool (which happened to be free) in their games room. Ample parking to the side of the pub. Would highly recommend stopping by this traditional pub.

Stopped spur of the moment for a quick drink, car park was ample ,beer garden looked good with tables and umbrellas up.The pub inside is large, the lady serving us was friendly, I had a glass of chardonnay which was nice and hubby had a amoretti in a glass which he said was nice and cold and hit the spot! Nice pub, atmosphere was flat but maybe because there wasn't much clientele at 3pm ? I'm sure it's much better on a Saturday evening when it's busy, the menu looks good with lots of variety so would come back and sample the menu.

We were greeted by a very friendly lady who advised immediately that there would be a delay in any food order as there was an order for 8 that had just gone into the kitchen. We decided to stay and wait, we are glad we did 😄 The food was well cooked and delicious. The only negative was that a lot of the dishes came with Carolina reaper sauces so we avoided them. We would go again if we were in the area

Booked a meal here to see what the venue was like. It’s quite a large pub with off-road parking, 3 separate bar/dining areas, a pool table and dart board. The interior is looking a little frayed around the edges and could do with a bit of a refurb. The lady behind the bar was friendly, attentive and helpful and the food (we chose the 2 for 1 offer on the Lasagne) was very tasty, well-cooked, plentiful and surprisingly ‘light’ to eat. It came with a lovely salad and garlic bread. It was excellent. The wine, while very nice was pricey. To our surprise (and later, horror) we’d booked on a night when there was what appeared to be a live music event in one part of the bar but couldn’t figure out why it was poorly attended by customers. It turns out it was a guitar-singing event where the participants took it in turns to enthusiastically savage some of my favourite tracks from the 80’s. We listened in, moving through a range of emotions from quiet, hysterical laughter to tears of rage, to wanting to call the music police to start a murder investigation. There should be laws against this sort of thing. The quality of the food really made up for areas of the venue that were a little lacking.

Never to visit again! Firstly, rude staff, poor customer service. Even by the owner it’s self. Not even a friendly face in sight! I was with a group of friends. Sitting in the quiet part of the pub in front of the tv. At 11:50pm ready to watch the fire works on New Year’s Eve on the tv.They come over and switch the tv, fully knowing that we were all watching it. I complained to the staff to switch the tv back on and the response was “no we have to turn the TV off” i was furious. How could they possibly do that! That was disgusting behaviour. Wonder why their pub wasn’t busy on New Year’s Eve, very unwelcoming! Will never return again. This was a lovely pub with the pervious owners, it’s a shame now.

First time we came here, it was great. Really nice guy behind the bar. Friendly, helpful. Food was good. Drinks were alright. Pool table and dart board there is decent too. Really great experience. Second time there. Not great. Lady behind the bar really couldn't be bothered. Looked miserable and seemed like she didn't want to be there. Said we could order food but only a limited menu as the chef wasn't in and the lady didn't want to cook many things. So we said about a burger and then was told we could only order the basic and if we wanted to order it had to be right there and then as the lady didn't want to cook for much longer. The general atmosphere was completely different this time. We decided not to order food as we guessed that the lady in the kitchen would probably not cook it well as she obviously couldn't be arsed. We would come here again but would probably leave if the same staff were on. The guy with the beard is definitely a member of staff that should have praise. The miserable lady with dark hair needs a drink.

Well designed pub but is let down by its shabbiness, needs a complete interior decoration to encourage customers in, 3 of us had lunch in march 2022 pub was empty and cold. food was adequate but took along time to arrive .It was managed as if it was a hobby not a business and bar staff looked like a gardener who had popped in to help. Visited this pub on a Saturday night 22/1/2022 and was charged £8.15 for a glass of wine after being charged £12.96 for two drinks. I queried this the next day as thought this was excessive. I had to wait 10 minutes to be served, the pub was not busy. I spoke to the bar manager and emailed a complaint. To date l have had no response to my email. The bill was unitemised and the customer service poor. My advice is don't go there especially if your local. Clearly couldn't care less about their customers.

Great fresh beer, but not cheap. Younger staff are really friendly and the redeeming feature of the place, hence two stars. The person we believe is the landlady is consistently surly, rude and unwelcoming. Last time we went they clearly wanted to have a private party without shutting the pub and had that Crazy Frog song on repeat from a child’s phone. Summer finally arrived and where better to take family than to the local? Arrived at the Wheatsheaf early evening to take advantage of the spacious lawned beer garden. I go to this pub a couple of times a week, so I'm pretty used to the warm welcome which was extended to visiting relatives. Beers were spot on as usual and we ordered food which looked appetising and proved to be tasty too. Thick cut chips were a particular hit! I've also been in for just a beer some Sunday lunchtimes, but I've seen they have a large family dining room where diners can enjoy their roasts while being serenaded with all the popular hits.....

Food is harvester standard (fine if that’s what you’re looking for). Mine was stone cold, but tasted pretty fresh. Cheap menu which is represented in the standard, again, fine if that’s what you’re looking for. You have to pay for everything as you go (each round, then food, etc), as apparently people have been leaving without paying (what is wrong with people?) and that’s annoying, but understandable.

Absolutely the best. A pub with an ideal location in Little Common, that I've more often attended to see live bands rather than for a meal. They have a large car park and a garden which was where I decided I would eat my evening meal. Despite having a large number of people eating due to the 'eat out to help out' offer, the staff did an exceptional job managing orders. They also had good social distancing measures in place and endorced these in a firm but friendly manner. Having booked my table for 7pm and arrived at the pub an hour earlier and had a drink, my food order was taken promptly at 7pm and served within 20 minutes. The hunters chicken was perfect, lightly spiced and cooked just right. The pudding was also delicious. The service was extremely friendly. The portions were a very good size and food and drinks were ridiculously good value even allowing for the offer. The atmosphere throughout the pub was very friendly. If I could give 6 stars I would.
