We went for Sunday lunch which I must say was very nice but unfortunately we had to sit in what I think was pool room which was not very clean. The decor was pretty poor and the toilets were bad too

Came for an evening meal on 13th November, the menu was very limited and we were told that only chunky chips were available with the main meals. I ordered the pork loin with mustard sauce and baby spinach. When the meal arrived it was not what I expected - it was a pork loin CHOP which was obviously fried and the oil was also on the plate - so a big puddle of oil, small-ish chop, a mustard sauce which looked like it came out of a packet, chunky chips, and few leaves of baby spinach. The chips were ok, the rest was not. I finished the meal, and did share my feedback with the person who served us, who said he'll pass it onto the kitchen. Normally the kitchen would acknowledge the feedback and perhaps apologize or offer a discount - but nothing happened. Overall very disappointed with the meal and lack of customer service.

Had Sunday lunch here and it was so delicious. Home made Yorkshire puds and home made apple pie. We will definitely be coming back here again. The best Sunday lunch in a very long time ❤️❤️

A great pub to spend a few hours having dinner. Abit off the busy road but very recommendable. The Pub has a great atmosphere inside with many different corners to sit in. There is also an outside area too. The staff are very friendly and the food is excellent. The whole place is kept clean & the toilets are clean too. A good experience overall. 👍😁

The establishment is made up of several rooms with original decor. The food is excellent for a reasonable price. A good address!

Popped in for lunch and had Beef burger and fries and it was delicious. The staff member was friendly and very attentive making you feel very welcome. The pub has a very cosy feel to it, its a lovely place

Brilliant food, value, service and people

We went to the Queens Head for Sunday lunch. I had a roast chicken dinner with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, roast parsnips, cabbage, broccoli and chanterey carrots and gravy. To follow I had the fig pudding with custard. All really delicious except I couldn't taste the figs in the pudding. There's a really nice atmosphere in the pub and the tables are well spaced apart. The pub staff are very friendly and welcoming.

We've been here before, last year and really enjoyed the fish and chips - better than the local fish and chip shop! So we decided to go back but unfortunately the menu has changed. The food was great! I'm warning you though, if you have a starter or share the baked camembert starter, you probably won't want a big main! I thought I was safe after the starter with a French style burger and fries but I was wrong. The burger was also stacked with camembert cheese! Waaaaay too much food and I'm a big guy that enjoys my food. Can't fault the food, piping hot and delicious. Service was friendly and polite. I just don't think it deserved more than 3 stars, not because anything was really wrong. Well, despite the lack of alcohol being available, the seating wasn't great or comfy for a sit down meal. It was just pretty average... Something we did enjoy was a local group practicing on their ukuleles and singing some old classics until about half 9. There's a pool table, some big comfy arm chairs for relaxing while drinking and socialising.

This is a fantastic Freehouse pub. The staff are knowledgeable and funny. Really nice fresh home prepared food. Lots of decent beer. Decor is warm and friendly. Dogs allowed. Highly recommended.

Got there by chance, with family and dog... Excellent pub! We enjoyed our dinner and drinks, served professionally and quickly, the food was great (and I mean it: we had a gorgeous greek lasagna, an immense Cesar salad and a perfect curry). Pet friendly. Nice experience, will return with no doubts.

The Queen's head Rye. What can I say. Three landpeople, all extremely pleasant and very good at their various roles. The customers range from 19-20 year olds to the elderly couple and everything in-between. All of the social classes are here and all of them seem to be decent and friendly. Then the food. Perhaps the only minor criticism is the extent of the menu, however, , although limited, what they do serve covers all the usual dietary needs and is cooked wonderfully with the usual busy, but cheerful staff making every effort to help you enjoy the evening. The pub itself covers all tastes, with nooks and crannies inside and out, where the two courtyard gardens make the warmer months even more enjoyable. Rye is the most amazing town and The Queen's epitomises everything that is varied and wonderful about it. And it is by the sea, what more could you want.

We popped in for a drink 🍸 but ended up having something to eat , what a great pub fantastic staff really friendly good food and we loved art decorations around the bar.

Was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! 👌 Top location just steps away from the magnificent Landgate. Friendly staff who helped me around. A large portion of fish and chips with beer for as little as 9.50£! There is also a little book swap shelf with some interesting titles – so cool! I'd definitely come back anytime if I'm in Rye again.

What a great pub, everyone from the bar staff to the friendly locals made our stay in Rye a fantastic one! The live music on Friday was great, will definitely visit next time we are here. Most of all I need to say a huge Thank you for my octopus 🐙

As locals, we can honestly say book here for honest, attentive service and quality food at a fair price. Never had a bad meal, superb service, and wipes the floor with some of the overpriced rivals in town. Recommend without hesitation

Quirky pub, love the decor! It is cosy and welcoming. The staff was lovely, really nice and helpful. The food was on point for us. Very reasonable as well. I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch there, and so did the rest of my family. The children's chicken nuggets were amazing! When we are in Rye again we might well pop in again !

Excellent food, especially the Sunday Roast!! Absolutely delicious! But more than that, the service was excellent! Super accommodating staff (the waiter even offered to run to the shops to get more ingredients as they’d run out of tartare sauce…!). Highly recommend!

The Queens Head was suggested to us as somewhere we could get food at 8.45 on a Sunday night (Rye closes early)! We were welcomed, there was plenty of space, the food was homemade, tasty and good value, the staff friendly and the toilets brilliantly quirky!

I’ve been to most establishments in Rye. This is the only place I felt totally safe in these difficult times we are in. All the staff were lovely and friendly and made sure everything was done safely. The food was delicious and hop house and curious brew on tap - amazing! I couldn’t recommend the queens head rye highly enough. Thank you to all the team - can’t wait to return again

We walked in for a lunchtime drink on Saturday and was met with a horrible attitude from the women behind the bar, barking orders and saying we had come through the wrong door, and didn't you see the sign, then making us walk out the and back in again through another door to the same exact place as before like children, we understand the vivid rules but mistakes are made.Obviously new owner what a shame we loved this pub and the staff were always really friendly,

The Queen’s Head is a roomy pub with a central bar and spacious seating areas at either side. It is nicely decorated and furnished and the service was most professional and very friendly. I must also say that their Coronavirus procedures and facilities are also very well done.It was a quiet Sunday evening when we were in, so I can’t comment on normal atmosphere, but it felt like a good local pub and we enjoyed our visit. We would certainly come back on any future visit to Rye.

Spent day in Rye ,was looking for Dog friendly pub for lunch ,Dogs were welcome in Queens head ,Very well prepared for Covid and tables well spaced and Track and Trace in place .We both had a large Sunday roast Beef and two Largers ,very good food and reasonable price .

This is the first time we have eaten at the Queens Head and due to Covid there is a reduced menu but we all agreed how good the food was. We all chose the burgers with chips and slaw, at £8 each great value. The host Jonathon was attentive and staff super friendly, we will definitely visit again.

Amazing service from Jonathan. The burger was delicious and the prices are amazing. This place has a very warm, friendly atmosphere but they also let you enjoy your meal without constant interruptions. A great place for a post beach meal.

A great lunch after a long walk—a tasty burger, reasonably priced, with perfect chips and a generous side salad, including just-right cole slaw and a couple of sweet onion rings. Topped off with a pint of Curious Brew’s light, effervescent cider, it was exactly what we wanted on a sunny Saturday in Rye.

The band on New Year's Eve was great, they now serve meals too, so we are really pleased about that. Had a great time, thank you x

Really friendly staff and good food

Not in the main street but just around the corner after the arch. Cozy , original and very spacious place, it doesn't look from the outside. Our family of six (14 months triplets + 5 yo) was very welcome by the owner and we could choose a table where we could park our triplet buggy and sit comfortably without disturbing anyone. Affordable menu and delicious food.

We went to the queens head today after walking our dogs in camber sands and got a warm welcome the waitress was lovely and friendly and we all enjoyed our meals it was very reasonable priced as well a very quirky place to visit !!!

The music last sat was great nice to have music in a great pub. The only thing wrong is that people should know what music is being played for the next 3 months.

We stumbled across this little gem by accident one weekend in Rye and liked it so much we went back twice during our stay. A very welcoming, comfortable quirky pub & restaurant with delicious food at reasonable prices. Great music too if you happen to visit on a night when they have live music. Well worth a visit!

I would have liked to rave about this pub - I tried to ramp it up a little, but unfortunately, I can't! Whilst staying in Rye, we thought we'd make use of our Meerkat Meals perk! We discovered The Queens Head was the only venue in Rye to attract the offer. I rang and a very polite chap said, "I know we used to do Meerkat Meals, but I'm not sure we still do. Let me check." Off he went and returned to the phone a couple of minutes later - "Yep, we do. Would you like me to book you in?" We made a reservation for 7pm the next day. The next day, we made our way to the pub. We should have done an about turn, when we discovered several young people outside, shouting up and down the street, and being somewhat rowdy. We had to tip-toe around a couple who were sitting on the steps, hugging! Once inside the pub, it looked quaint enough. We made our way to the restaurant area. The place was deserted. We spoke to the lady serving behind the bar, who explained her printer was on the blink and so she could only offer us her lunchtime menu! No - I couldn't see the connection here either! We were told to take a seat in the restaurant area. Off we went and as we were the only patrons, we sat in the nearest seats available. The atmosphere was zilch. Cold, unwelcoming and as though they had opened the area especially for us, I suspect their only diner's of the evening! The same bar lady came and took our order (2 scampi and chips)! The food arrived. It was O.K. but not the freshest, tastiest scampi I had ever eaten. Quite dark coating and bland old chips really. And cold peas to boot! We finished our 'meal' and tip-toed our way back past the youths to escape! Like I said, lovely polite staff, O.K. grub, but not a pleasant experience!

Beer is fresh and live music is always good

Decent pub grub, good atmosphere and really good prices. Roast beef was tasty, BLT sandwich was generous, tasty, kids portions were generous, burgers looked and smelt divine and the service was great.
