Fantastic stay, the grounds were well kept and peaceful. Our rooms were clean and spacious, The breakfasts delicious with a wide choice available. Staff were helpful and informative. Both pools were delightful and although a little cool the children had a great time. Dinners were delicious my only wish was a wider choice for those who stay a week or more. We look forward to returning in the future.

We ate here whilst staying in the area for a few days. Between us we had gammon, burger and local sausages with mash. The food was delicious, generous portions and great value for money. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the venue was cosy and tastefully decorated. We can’t recommend The Ferryman highly enough and would definitely visit again when in the area.

At the moment, Jason only organizes an evening meal occasionally. On this occasion he had opened prior to a film being held at the Village Hall. A small group of us met and enjoyed a two course delicious meal with wine. The first course was a salad, comprising, Isle of Wight, Heritage tomatoes and fennel, beautifully presented. My main course was a chicken schnitzel, with ratatouille and potatoes that have been tossed in buttery herbs

This was our first visit and we were impressed by the high standard of the ploughmans we ordered. The ham was delicious and thick cut. All the ingredients were top mark and the staff were pleasant & friendly. Prices are not cheap but if the standards are always like this that's fair. Plenty of choice on the menu and drinks too. It was Monday and the place was quiet.

A superb meal. Our starters were the scallops and pate, the main was beef wellington and duck, and we shared a creme brulee for pudding. Everything was superb, really excellent. This is a lovely historic pub in the New Forest with history of the building on the walls, including the landlords' names going back a couple of hundred years. Our waitress, Izzy, was efficient and polite. The best that we have experienced in the area.

When we arrived we were taken to our table, there was no room to move , they had crammed the tables so close together that you couldn’t get out of your chair. We asked for a table with some room as we had a pushchair with us, but no. After an hour waiting a staff member came to take our order, not a lot of choice , some of us had the trio of roast, sounded lovely, when the dinner turned up it was disappointing, the stuffing didn’t taste or look very nice and as for the veg well, not the usual Sunday veg, it turned up in a small dish for 3 of us , there was red cabbage , courgette and carrots. The puddings not nice either, waffles hard you couldn’t cut , cheesecake which tasted like it had loads of gelatine in, and the treacle sponge pudding usually is a light brown colour, well it was almost black and tasted of black treacle, not nice. We didn’t have coffee, wasn’t asked. Staff not friendly , never asked if we wanted any more drinks, if our dinner was ok, we had to keep calling them over. Wouldn’t go back .

My friends and I visited on a Sunday afternoon from out of town at a local’s recommendation. I loved the atmosphere - lots of plants, lots of seating. There weren’t many customers, so it wasn’t loud. We were hoping for afternoon tea, but sadly it is not available on Sundays. Some of us got the Sunday Roasts instead. More in our party (of 10) would have liked to try the Sunday Roast, but they only sold it to some of us due to limited staff & presumably limited ingredients. The rest ordered sandwiches. I’m sorry to say I was not impressed with the starter or main course (the meat, potatoes and vegetables were a bit dry), but I did enjoy the crème brûlée for dessert. Afterward, we visited a gin distillery around the corner. They allowed us samples, and I was impressed with the flavor and smoothness.

Large pub with plenty of atmosphere. Very busy on our un booked visit but staff found us a table. Staff were excellent and attentive. Food was very good and reasonable portions. Wide range of drinks available. A place to have a very good evening
