The best restaurants serving Default food in High Weald Mid Sussex South East

Visited this lovely cosy pub on a mid week evening in January. Don't drive there via Cob Lane! Interesting journey in the dark!? But once we were there the service and food was excellent. Mel was brilliant and so welcoming, as was the landlord Andrew - what a super chap. We didn't stay overnight so can't comment on the rooms, but the ambiance of the pub was lovely and food fantastic. Will definitely return. Thank you to all at The Cat.👍👍👍

Great Sunday lunch at sensible prices. Really well cooked, the service was very good without being intrusive and the ambience was really nice.

I was disappointed in the Crown Inn as a place to stay overnight. I wanted to be close to Horsted Keynes railway station (5 minutes by car) in order to be there by 6.30am for an early morning photo charter. So, I arrived at the inn around 5pm on Sunday night to be told 'we don't serve food after 4pm on Sunday'. And apparently other pubs in the area didn't either. 'And we cannot do breakfast as early as 6 am.' It would have been good to have known because I would have stayed somewhere else that had more flexibility. My room was small. clean, recently refurbished with a comfortable double bed, flat screen TV, small bathroom with shower, tea and coffee facilities, small wardrobe, hair drier and two bottles of water. But nowhere to use as a desk. The guest wi-fi was non-existent and I had to come down to the bar for another wi-fi connection. That one did work in my room but was quite slow. I paid £103 for bed only. I did not feel this was good value. I was annoyed that the lack of food wasn't highlighted in the information provided when I booked. And I thought the room was at best average and not worth what I paid. It is rare for me to write such critical reviews, and I don't like doing it. I think the management need to make their information much clearer.

Horrible and drunk landlord - Went to this pub to meet up with some friends during the Christmas period… We found a free table and took our drinks to enjoy a catch up, during this time we notice the landlord having multiple wines before we had even finished one pint and this continued for our second pint. Whilst seated we got asked to vacate our table by the landlord for some food customers as we were only drinks customers - Although this felt very awkward we obliged and moved to the bar. At the bar we carried on catching up whilst having lovely conversations with the bar staff, suddenly out of nowhere the landlord (drunk) came over to us to tell us “you are being too loud and I’m going to ask you to leave if you don’t be quiet” (bare in mind that we weren’t even being loud). These rude and forceful comments that he made (the bar staff and chef looking incredibly embarrassed!) ended up with the drunk landlord banning us from the pub and grabbing hold of a friend telling him to be quiet which was completely out of order and unacceptable behaviour… an apology would much be appreciated!

I loved this place and will definitely return. Warm, welcoming atmosphere with delicious organic food. My coffee was perfect and Ploughmans lunch was fresh and very good value. But it’s the atmosphere and the staff that make this place really special.

This pub is lovely!! The service is excellent and the food is delicious. The food is quick to come out and the staff are kind and accommodating. For example, they always would change the Macaroni cheese for plain pasta if a child didn't like Macaroni and cheese! The food is so good and the interior is very nice!! I have been going here since I was tiny and love it! Make sure to check it out!

Another amazing visit for lunch with friends. Gravtye is a perfect blend of classic charm and modern sophistication. The restaurant has a light floral garden decor, which overlooks the gardens. Making it perfect backdrop to enjoy the exceptional food. The dishes are imaginative . Each bite was a celebration of flavor, with fresh, vibrant produce and carefully chosen elements that created a beautiful balance on the plate. The food is presented with artful design, almost too beautiful to eat — though of course, we did ! The staff are attentive, professional, and impeccably presented, ensuring everything is seamless and enjoyable. They are knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients. They made us feel truly cared for throughout our time there. Cant wait to return!

Delicious Sunday roast with perfect crispy roast potatoes and delicious 3 meats . Tasty puddings too and super service.

Six of us on a cold winters evening. Log Fire . All food great, Raspberry Souffle amazing. Great service.Reasonably priced. Will return.

Always great service and a lovely genuine country atmosphere. No fuss, open fire, locals and dogs, good food and wine. Very reasonable.

Great place for a quick bite. Had a brie and bacon panini and cup of tea. Very nice food, nice surroundings and good value. I shall be going back for more!

Dropped in for coffees, a caesar wrap and sausage roll. All cooked beautifully and the best Lattes I have had in a very long time. Lovely friendly staff.

The food was a similar quality you'd find in a high end restaurant in London and the service was fantastic. A nice pub with a homely feel! Would highly recommend
