Lovely friendly pub with great food. After being treated pretty badly by The Cat the welcome here was chalk and cheese.

What a great pub! After a friendly welcome we enjoyed a delicious light lunch of homemade soup and scrumptious crab toast in front of a cosy log fire. A blissfully independent antidote to Wetherspoons. What a find!

I had my 50th here a few weeks ago foe a private function and folks at the pub were amazingly helpful and the food was out of this world. Great pub, great food - highly recommended!

Lovely village pub with a great Sunday roast.

We went to The Fox for Sunday lunch with friends and everyone loved their meal (roasts, fish & chips and pasta). Service was smooth, even more impressive as there were 12 of us. The pub was busy and the fires were lit, great atmosphere for an autumn day.

Lovely cosy pub with a wood open fire. Lunch time meal for 2. Mushroom risotto and burger were amazing, great service and chocolate brownie for desert was one of the best brownies we've had! Very reasonably priced. Would definitely return 🙂

To be fair i think a bit of bad timing - this was apparently first day of new ownership. Long wait for menu - this was reduced to roast or roast (kitchen problems we were told) No coffee, no sauces and no dessert. Roast was actually ok. Shame - clearly recently refurbished and the place looked good.

Honestly this is one of the best pubs I think I’ve ever visited. The service was amazing. We had an amazing lady serve us who explained the whole menu and recommended the best dishes. She was great with my little girl - so warm and friendly. We ordered the Sunday roast and the meat just fell apart, didn’t even need a knife to cut through it. Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes were amazing - crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. We asked for more gravy and they happily provided. We also had the brownie and sticky toffee pudding. The portions weee huge - both were delicious. Can’t wait to visit again. There’s also some lovely seats outside the bar with an amazing view.

This place has only be re-opened for a few months. The Manager was a really nice lady. We had diatry requirements and luckily for chef was also the owner and we had gluten free fish and Chips which was amazing. We could also bring our dog in who was more than welcome. I would recommend this place to anyone. Very welcoming.

We have just had a wonderful Sunday lunch at The Fox with family visiting for the weekend. The roast beef we all had was delicious and staff were so attentive. The extra gravy we ordered as it was so good was well received. We will be back soon .

Sadly their website needs updating. Cannot make a reservation and correct their opening times. Arranged to meet a friend to find the place in darkness and clearly closed despite their website stating the open on Tuesday evenings. No opening times outside either.

We visited the newly renovated Fox for dinner and Wow! what a pleasure 💕The interior has been very tastefully renovated, it’s clean and inviting 😁 We had a crackling fire on in the main dining area. Very warming on a cold evening! The service was excellent. Staff are super friendly and professional. We both had burgers - a halloumi burger and a bacon & cheese burger. Neither of us expected the huge plate and well stacked burgers we received! 🤩 So delicious. So much food to get through. Highly highly recommend visiting The Fox for a meal and I’m definitely going to do a Sat morning breakfast!

Really enjoy the new owners approach to the food, very good and it's a lovely local pub, always a good atmosphere. Love the Tweedy Fox beer and the coffee and wines are great.

I have visited the Fox on a number of occasions now and have always had a good experience under the new management, from morning coffee to a Sunday roast after a dog walk. Also a good place for a few beers with a view. The Saturday breakfast is next

Our first visit to the The Fox under new stewardship, can honestly say very impressive, my favourite lager on tap Camden Hells win win, nice well balanced lunch menu, good specials boards. Had the Chicken burger tasted fantastic and the chips were extremely satisfying......all in all very positive experience and will be coming back. Also extremely dog friendly

Great atmosphere, really friendly and helpful staff, good selection of draught beers

Food was delicious. We had pan fried sea bass and steak and both were really good. I would come back again. Outside was also seating with beautiful views of the countryside.

Great to visit the reopened Fox. Met the lovely couple running it. Food was spot on, the specials board offering some choice options and we had a table by the fire. Definitely come back again.

We stopped in today for a lunch and met this fabulous team, the new owners are a young couple who are super welcoming and are both fully trained chefs 🧑‍🍳 👨‍🍳 If the Pork T-Bone meal was anything to go by then the people of Sharpthorne and its visitors will be very very well served. Had an absolutely wonderful Easter Sunday roast today. First time here since its relaunch. The vegetables were absolutely perfect and I could absolutely recommend the lentil and sweet potato roast. Wonderful staff and atmosphere x

I often pop in here for a quick drink. I recommend the Silly Moo cider, locally brewed in Cowfold. Plenty of outdoor seating. Currently being refurbished but opening again for the Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

Cannot comment on the food but stopped in for a pint of cider. Lovely and warm atmosphere even though it did get very busy as a small pub. Definitely a locals pub as everyone seemed to know eachother. They served silly moo cider. Lack of parking so parked up the road further on. Open fires to keep you cosy and warm in the winter

We happened upon this place by accident, there's another pub within yards of the fox that we couldn't get into, it was pretty quiet, but the food was cooked there and totally fresh. Took a while but you don't mind if it's nice and it was, we were puzzled as to y it was quiet it's a must try pub

Gorgeous pub on the hill below the village of West Hoathly, above Sharpthorne village. I've frequented here many times on my visits from London. Great cooking, amazing decor and a cute little garden terrace around the back with great views. This is my top favourite place to eat in the area, even with the Cat (the most popular in West Hoathly) included.

Breakfast was great value and fresh and tasty! Service was friendly but a little slow as they were setting up for the day.

A quiet little gem serving up some tasty food. The burger was really good and highly recommended, the triple fried chips were done just right. The scampi and chips too hit the mark, a place that serves a dressed salad!

Very slow service - had to ask for my pudding twice. Staff forgot to bring cutlery to multiple tables. Food and atmosphere (cat!!) are great so just needs some training for front of house

The evening was made special by the service of the exceptional bar staff....a young lady working on her own ....and doing a great job with a lovely sense of humour. Recommended.

Nice pub,good food, good beer, staff polite and friendly but they certainly need training. Staff barely tended the tables. Lady near us waited and waited to pay and no one came to the table until I asked them too

Really need to improve on their service. Advertised breakfast but could not serve any and not mentioning that they are unable to serve breakfast, only after ordering coffee and helping ourselves to the menus did they mention they cannot help. They should have said upfront. Also the server was practically in another world, her mind was not at all at work, double charged for the coffee ordered. Place also looks unkept and needing a good clean.

We turned up at The Fox late last Sunday, after a long day of cycling. In desperate need of some food, the owner was extremely accommodating and went as far as to cook us a delicious meal even though they had stopped serving food several hours ago. We had the vegetable wellington, which was brilliant.

The Fox welcomed us to watch Eurovision while we were camping nearby - huge thanks to the friendly landlord and staff for making our evening so enjoyable!

Lovely welcome from everybody here - including the cat sat on the bar! Tasters of all the beers offered (good selection of regional ales) and bar staff really know their stuff. Good bar snacks, too - definitely worth a visit!

A very nice village pub with great atmosphere and seriously good food. We turned up after a hike in the Ashdown Forest with our toddler and a dog, and received a warm welcome while we took our table by the fireplace. Food was delicious and reasonable priced. The only slight disappointment was - and hence the missing star - that we were asked about desserts and our order was taken by the waitress, but a few minutes later we were told that the kitchen is now closed and we couldn't get any dessert at the end. I guess the cheesecakes are not made fresh to order, so I'm having a hard time believing that putting a slice on a plate would have been a huge effort.. Or if that's the case then staff should advise customers beforehand and shouldn't take any more orders in the last 15 minutes. So, this place owes me a toffee cheesecake!

The inside of this pub is lovely! So eccentric and quirky, loads of curiosities to look at. 💥 The burger was okay, I'd say the beef patty was a little on the dry side 🍔. But as you can see they like to stack it up. I think if we come back then I'll have to try something else on the menu. Because I see some good potential in this place. It was busy, lively and the staff nice too. 😄👌🏽

Good morning, Some feedback from our lunch yesterday (16/02). My husband choose haddock with poached duck egg which was priced at £20. The portion size was so mean it wouldn't have fed a small child. The egg was small (definitely not a duck egg) and hard in the middle. The fennel was soggy. There was not check back on our table, when we paid for the bill the server/waiter was not interested in our compliant, he did not offer to refer it back to the kitchen. Not good. On a positive note my food was lovely. We are regular diners at the pub but the service yesterday was poor and indifferent. I write this review to alert the owner that this member of staff is letting the side down. Best wishes.

My wife had pasta and lamb for me, just very nicely cooked and presented food. Simple really, what a shame more pubs can't do the same.

Very nice Sunday lunch in a cosy pub with an open fire. Staff very friendly and the place has a nice ambience. The lamb Sunday roast was fabulous - much better quality than most places. Highly recommended.

Popped in for a quick beer, lovely pub and good beer. Glad I stopped by.

Chanced across the Fox whilst walking the High Weald Way. Sign requesting that muddy boots be removed before entering is fair enough and we were happy to comply. Burger was great and chips excellent, I could have eaten more but that would just be being greedy! Dessert was different, I ordered the chocolate fondant which I was advised would be 15 mins as cooked to order. Happy with this, however the first fondant apparently collapsed, and with daylight critical fit for our return walk I asked where mark 2 was, at this point the chef came out and apologised and said this had also collapsed. I said I would leave it but the chef offered a free sticky toffee pudding. These things happen and left happy

Exceptional find! We spent the night before looking at menus for places we’ve never been before, the menu offerings were everything that me and my wife consider favourite dishes so we went here!!! 10/10- great decor, friendly and cheerful staff who couldn’t have accommodated us more, oysters presented incredibly, sirloin was excellent and so was my wife’s fish and chips—- Will 💯 return soon

Following a day at Wakehurst we looked for a pub to eat and were very fortunate to decide upon the Fox. The staff and customers were all friendly and helpful, the drinks were good value and there was a good variety on offer. The Harveys was a really well kept beer, thoroughly enjoyable. The setting was good with a patio in the sun till 7pm, but the real highlight was the food. The menu was varied and not just the normal pub fare. I had the roast haunch of venison, with potato rosti, creamed leeks and a peppercorn jus and my wife had the roast chicken, bacon and avocado salad with some triple cooked chips. It was all very well cooked and presented and tasted delicious. A lot of care and attention had gone into preparing the food which in my opinion put the dishes in some top restaurants to shame. Thanks for a great end to a lovely day and we will certainly look to come and eat at the Fox again.
