We booked the table last minute really on a Saturday night for 8pm. We arrived at 8:12 and we were the only people in there which I thought was a real shame. After apologising for being late we were told that the kitchen was about to close in quite an aggressive manner. As a newly reopened place that was empty it wasn’t the welcome we thought we would get. Again, another person in our party was told on the way in that the kitchen was about to close, by that point it was a bit awkward. Anyway, we got on with the evening and to summarise the food was quite impressive. The fish was slightly overcooked but the people who had the duck special really enjoyed their mains and so did the person who had the beef pie. The service got better throughout the evening but it will always stick in my mind the start to the evening. Sussex has some amazing pubs and places have to really stick out for people to be repeat customers.

I always enjoy the experience of dining at the Gravetye Manor. I last went a year ago and was very much looking forward to my return visit. They have changed the experience by introducing some taster courses in between you chosen meal from the set menu, for the month or season. What a brilliant addition ! A wonderful meal. I enjoyed every course.

We've eaten here several times and it's become a favourite. This time we took visiting friends, and phoned ahead to ask for a quiet table. Staff really went out of their way to accommodate us, and made us feel very welcome and well looked-after. The food and drink, as always, were very enjoyable. There can be some inconsistency at times — some items are excellent while others, incongruously, are just good. But then it is, deservedly, very, very busy at weekends.

We enjoy visiting this traditional village pub for lunch, it is served by an hourly bus which runs from Brighton to East Grinstead so is easy to reach, and is popular with walkers and cyclists in the summer months, there is plenty of outside seating in the sunny frontage as well as a bar with an open fire and a restaurant area. The food varies from light lunches to pub classics and there is always a specials board, I had an amazing seafood linguine recently. There are deals on certain nights too. We sometimes take the wider family there and the children enjoy the meals. We have always been made to feel very welcome.
