This was my first time visiting at a 3-star Michelin restaurant as well as eating at the Chef's table. Firstly, from now on I will definitely attempt to do the Chef's table experience at a restaurant when it is available. It is a much more entertaining affair, and more interesting and informative experience than your traditional restaurant experience. Whilst preparing each of the individual and unique courses, the chef clearly explained the inspiration/ingredients behind each course. He also shared how L'enclume are trying to be more sustainable and how Simon Rogan has his own farm nearby in Cartamel to source fresh local produce for the restaurant. The chefs table experience also allows you to speak to other groups of people present and share their experience and why they are there and their opinions. It's a great experience for foodies and highly recommended. For l'enclume and Aulis Cartamel , the food is great, organic, beautifully presented and expertly prepared. My personal favourite is the Orkney Scallops and Corra lim pudding caramelised in Birch sap. This restaurant is a true English restaurant, that is worth 3 stars

Introduced to Oscarâs by my sister who lives a few miles from Cartmel, we celebrated my wifeâs birthday with a family meal there a few days ago. Fabulous food and service and a great atmosphere. The sausages in honey and mustard were amazing. Highly recommended, weâll certainly be back again.

Like most people we were looking forward to coming to lâenclume. It did not disappoint but it was not without its quirks. The atmosphere was great - a pleasant buzz, friendly staff and good table spacing. The food was at points phenomenal, sometimes excellent and occasionally good. The bone marrow, oysters and caviar was the best thing Iâve ever eaten. The select wine pairing was a mixed bag. Some wines were perfect but also stood on their own and others needed the food to work. Service was friendly and efficient. It was really nice to see the chefs working. And also delivering the food explanations. So what was odd. Minor points but there were misses such as a sticky table, wine going missing and messy aprons on servers. So this felt like an excellent meal delivered in a friendly place and therefore not quite perfection. For me that worked just fine

The Staff at this Restaurant are obviously hand picked. They are WONDERFUL from start to finish. You get a lovely warm greeting at the door, which IMHO is very important. We were impressed by the gorgeous food.I was a bit confused by the wine menu-staff were unerringly patient and kind.Everything explained carefully. No rush, close attention to detail. One thing I would like to mention-the happiness and warmth of the Chefs-their interaction with each other was a pleasure to see and reflected in the fine cuisine.

We rarely choose to go to a pub for Sunday lunch as we're so often disappointed. No fear here - beautiful meat cooked perfectly, pillowy Yorkshire pubs, great attention to detail paid to every veg on the plate. Cracking pint, lovely wine, friendly and efficient staff. A top 5 Sunday pub roast for us. Excellent.

Traditional Pub. Nice open fire. Great beers. Very Friendly helpful young staff. Short menu of wholesome straightforward food very well cooked and presented. Live music on Fridays and Sundays. Will definitely visit again

This hotel/restaurant is in an idyllic spot in Cartmel. Fabulous views. Lovely garden. We called for a Saturday lunch but were disappointed that they only served pizzas. (Which I don't like) Had to find somewhere else to eat!! Even if they'd done soup and sandwiches we would have stayed just to enjoy the beautiful views!!

I came in today with three friends who are over from Canada. We all had leek and potato soup and a sandwich. The soup was, awful it tasted of vinegar! We asked for it to be changed, so we had tomato and basil, which tasted like vinegar again! One of my friends managed to eat hers! I was not offered a refund! Do chefs/cooks not taste the food anymore before sending it out to customers? Would not recommend.

This was a busy little pub and a great atmosphere too. We had the fish & chip wraps and the kids had the fish goujons. It was really good and we enjoyed it. You have to park on the main road . However, a member of staff said if there were no spaces the local school over the road let's the weekend customers park there. We didn't stay there so I can't say how the rooms were. But definitely worth a visit. Thank you. đ

We both ordered soup with a cheese scone. This is after a walking week with soup and bread taken every day. Not only was this the most expensive we came across but the scone was very, âdoughy,â and undercooked. It was far from acceptable. Itâs very clear that the staff have not tried their own product. I urge them to test the product, change the recipe and improve the cooking process. I was really unhappy with our experience though the ambiance of the cafe is excellent if a little cold with the door wide open trying to attract customers. Could do much better. I strongly urge them to seek customer feedback so that they find out what people actually think.
