Traditional Pub. Nice open fire. Great beers. Very Friendly helpful young staff. Short menu of wholesome straightforward food very well cooked and presented. Live music on Fridays and Sundays. Will definitely visit again

The friendly staff went out of their way to fit our booking for a table of eight in on a busy Sunday afternoon. The roast beef was delicious as was the nut roast and cauliflower cheese. Lovely ambiance and setting. The food is good value for money, the beers are on the pricey side but as it’s a small craft brewery it’s nice to support and try different beers from the usual ones. One small note; it was a shame that the staff started clearing the plates before everyone had finished as this made us feel a bit rushed. Overall a lovely experience though and we will be back.

Visited because we wanted a good pub meal and it didn't disappoint. Told by the manager there was a wait, after 45 mins the manager came over with our menus. Pork chop with mustard and apple sauce...... incredible. Give the chefs a pat on the back. Will defo be back when next in the area.

Return visit and weren’t disappointed. Outstanding staff, so friendly! We enjoyed a bar meal here in a cosy alcove, listening to great music before being served super pub grub. Really good atmosphere in here and we’d definitely recommend.

Had a lovely meal and evening with a party of 6 (3 x couples), although the Mains and Desserts menus was a bit on the small size. Main course options were: Hunters Chicken, Fish and Chips, Pork Schnitzel, and a veg option. There was a specials board with a couple of additional choices, but as we were choosing (table booked 7.30) we were politely told one main special was off. Dessert choice was Sticky Toffee with ice cream, or ice cream. Limited choices but the food was very good indeed, as was the service. Pub setting was lovely and old English traditional with a modern extension and beautiful garden to the rear. Drinks choice in the bar was a also excellent and service at the bar very friendly and helpful. However, on receiving the bill it was noticed there had automatically been a 10% Service Charge added within the total, with no mention of this being discretionary etc. Considering it was not 100% table service as you had to go to the bar to order, this was surprising. Ironically had this apparently automatic service charge not been on the bill, we would have all chipped in a more generous tip, but all of us were taken aback a little and duly paid the bill as presented. My wife and I would return, but will try another local bar/restaurant beforehand.

Had lunch here twice during a weeks holiday nearby. Both the food and the welcome were really top-notch. We will come here again. Highly recommended. PS. Dog friendly--pot of dog biscuits on the bar.

Visited for dinner, friendly greeting. Old fashioned pub with a huge beer garden out the back. Dog friendly. Dinner menu was limited but cooked really well, I had the ‘Todays Special’ Greek lamb stew that was excellent, we also enjoyed the pork chop & chicken Kiev. They must use a good butcher because the meat was all good quality. Served some local beers. Happy to recommend!

A lovely lunch in a dog friendly pub. The staff and the food were great. The oxtail pie was amazing. Slow cooked beef in a pie topped with mashed potato. The halloumi burger was chunky and cooked well. Our daughter who is a little picky ate it all. The dog was welcome and water was provided for her. Will be going back.

Thought the soup was at an inflated price (5.95) so didn’t bother with a starter Hubby enjoyed the burger. Very tasty but wished it had come with “fat chips” instead of “straw fries” but he obviously didn’t read the menu properly as I’m sure they could have been substituted The homemade coleslaw was delicious My scampi was good quality. Peas were cold as cold can be but chose not to complain. Chips were lovely No coke / Pepsi on draught which I found disappointing but we had lime / soda £29.50 for two pints of lime/soda and x2 main courses which I thought slightly expensive but perhaps that’s average for Cartmel and it was very good food Staff friendly. Quirky old building. Toilet cubicle not big enough - but not the owners fault Would return

Terrible customer service! The young girl at the till clearly did not want to be there. She was huffing and puffing at customers! Yes, it was very busy as yesterday, 15th October was a beautiful autumn day but I would think they would be glad of end of season trade! I could not sit down because they were so busy so opted to ask for take away coffee and cake, only to be told by her 'I'm not doing take away'. Really? The local co-op is closed for a refurbishment and they really could capitalise on that if they employed more capable, less miserable staff! Shocking!! Won't return!

Called here for a takeaway lunch, used them several times before. Service was disappointing to say the least. Not a please or thankyou from the ladies working in the shop - even when I pointed out they'd only charged me for 1 flat white! Previous reviews also highlight the fact that the staff are miserable, they respond but do nothing to address the concerns raised. Also, I would've thought that as u was the only customer in the shop on a very wet day would have been positive for them - obviously not! Not sure I'll return here.

Visited here with my Dad today. Asked for a tea cake and then a scone both not on the menu anymore. I had a bagel with salmon and cream cheese paid over £8 and that was it no sides, no even a bit of salad - didn’t taste great. Dad ordered pancakes in the end 2 tiny pancakes on a dish - still hungry when we left. Not great service either. Disappointed!

Stopped to have a tea, latte and a slice of carrot cake. Great service and a huge slice of cake that we shared. Great value for money.

Called in for a coffee and snack after our frequent walk along the bay and round back into Arnside. When this first opened I was a little wary as we are used to small intimate tea/coffee shops in Arnside. However this was our second visit and as we entered we were greeted by obviously the front of house guy “David”. Wow does this guy know how to do it Welcoming ,friendly, Northern (always a bonus). Had a lovely coffee and Hubby had a great crisp bacon bun. The vibe in this cafe/restaurant is great., modern but great service. We live quite locally and are encouraged to go in the evening now as well. In our opinion the best restaurants are always about the front of house and Crossfields has it right. Everyone in this place has a great view of our beautiful Morecambe bay.
