I love this gem of a bar in Kirkby Lonsdale but our visit last night was spoilt by the awful attitude of one of the bar staff. We were sat at a table by the bar hatch and as the girl collecting glasses went back behind the bar she picked up my friend’s wine glass off the table and took it away. When we managed to get her attention to tell her it wasn’t actually finished with as there was still some wine in it, she was so rude. No apology or anything, she just said ‘it was empty so get over it’ we tried to explain that she should have asked if it was finished with instead of just taking it off the table but she was extremely dismissive. We would normally have stayed for a couple of rounds but because of her, the rest of us drank up and moved on to another venue

Cracking pizza, drinks and venue, highly recommend.

Really friendly, popular place. Roaring fire on a wet September afternoon. Families popping in for hot chocolate on the way home as well as people here for the locally brewed beer. Tasting paddles available and very dog friendly. Would recommend.

Fabulous lunch menu. The kids and hubby love the pizzas and I go for a Halloumi salad. Fresh and tasty. Great atmosphere and they have space for me to take my laptop and work for a few hours.

Simply the best place in town! It’s difficult to find fault at all with this relatively recent edition to the drinking and eating scene in Kirkby Lonsdale. Converted from an old barn, and with many original features still present, this stylish and hip brewery-styled barn really hits the spot as something special. The atmosphere inside is buzzing, and it always seems to be well populated with locals and visitors are like. The offering is based around the local brewery’s beers and spirits, all of which are excellent, and the long bar, with informal seating and upstairs mezzanine is perfect to spend a few hours sampling the drinks they offer. Try the beer sample planks to enjoy their full range! The food is limited but absolutely delicious when available. There is also occasional live music at weekends which really showcases local talent and is well worth looking out for. The staff for cheerful, energetic and knowledgeable. The range of beers is absolutely staggering, highlighted on the board above the bar and including many of the locally brewed offerings. You can also buy their spirits to take away – something I always do myself. Please don’t miss the chance to pay a visit here when you are next in town. You won’t regret it.

I enjoy going to the Royal Barn at least 3 times a week and can thoroughly recommend having a 6 paddle ...such great beers its hard to choose just one! 🍺 Just a quick heads up though , the air-conditioning is just a bit too cold and yesterday a few customers were visibly uncomfortable and the people sat on the next table remarking on the low temperature . Still the best place in KL

I visit the Royal Barn frequently. The beer is always superb but the quality of the pizzas varies tremendously sometimes great but other times so disappointing. There is too much competition in Kirkby Lonsdale not to get it right every time.

Popped in with walking buddies and stayed for a couple of hours !! Great drinks range, especially the cask ale selection - lots of variety and everything (a lot between us) we sampled was on top form. A very unique design, on two levels, lots of nic nacs dotted around and the place was really busy for a Wednesday lunchtime. We didnt eat on that occasion but looked a good menu and the food we saw coming out looked the part. Will visit again to try the food when next in the area. The loyalty card for beer came in handy too !!

Great place to stop for some local drinks and a decent bite to eat. Really nice inside too. We had pizza which was very well made with a very nice base and one of the sandwiches which my girlfriend thought was excellent.

The menu (not sure if just lunch time) is very different. They’re not toasties or wraps, but very tasty and well presented. The locally roasted coffee is really good too. Highly recommended.

Beer lovers paradise. Great selection of beers from their own brewery with a few others, but what a choice. Good value paddles available- 3 1/2 pints for £6.00 gives you a chance to taste quite a few. Popped in here a few times while staying nearby for a week.

We have been coming for years and love it, for me the Monumental and for my husband the coffee. Today however the staff turned off the coffee machine early T before 7pm. They were not helpful and said it was because of a hot day! My husband does not drink alcohol so he was really disappointed. I’ve not had this before and they were not going to budge and turn it on!!!

We eat regularly in Kirkby but I like Jubilee stout. So we come here a lot. Although the service has gone down & further down over the years, the pint is still good…. 😬 Well I say that, this week an abrupt baseball cap wearing chap pulled a very average Jubilee & was more interested in getting back to his chat than serving us. 😍 Plus the whole place smelled of bleach. 😮‍💨 A fortnight ago we had excellent service & a nicely pulled pint in the orange tree - if only they had jubilee as a regular beer 😃

We walked past whilst staying in town and thought it looked interesting and saw there was live music on that evening. Walked in to find out more and thought it could be fun so came back later. Great buzz about the place. More of a barn than a bar as it is the base for a micro brewery. Great acoustic set playing all the old classics - Pink Floyd as we walked in. Wish we had somewhere like this local to us as we would be regulars!

Great place great beer always enjoy my 4 time weekly visit ,just one disappointment the 2 arm chairs next to the fire dirty and old come on guy 2 new one for new year 👍

Pannousos were fantastic as was the 3 rack half pinters or was it 6 or was it 12 can't remember ???

Not too busy but the guy serving seemed to spend a lot of the me on the phone instead of serving

The pizza here is perfect. A very cosy atmosphere, nice and casual with affordable prices.

Most enjoyable; a wide selection of KLB beers (and others), dispensed by cask and keg, with an extensive pizza menu too.

My husband and I absolutely love this place, could sit there for hours drinking the many delicious beers on offer and the food never disappoints either

Visited several times during our stay, calling in for breakfast (great pancakes 😉) also called in for pizzas and drinks in the evening. Great atmosphere, especially busy when music events on. Recommend a good place to call into. 😊

Best pizza in town. Top quality real ales brewed on site, good lagers and ciders. Locally made gins and ales available to take away. Good coffee spot in the mornings. Fab mezzanine for the digital nomads to work and drink coffee. Calender of live music. Excellent staff eager to please.

Excellent brewery bar with great beers and food options for a light lunch. We enjoyed it immensely and we'll be back for more next time.

Called in on a few occasions when passing through Kirkby Lonsdale and always had good beer and service. Unfortunately today was a different story, I asked for my pint topping as the head on it was touching the circular brewery logo on the glass, I was sharply told "that is how it's supposed to be served" and "would I like it with no head on at all?". I calmly told the girl I had over 40 years experience in hospitality and the head doesn't constitute part of the pint, that I just wanted a collar on the pint not a shirt and tie. I pointed out if she wants to leave such a large head on the beer use oversized glasses. She very begrudgingly did as I asked. According to trading standards website anything more than a 5% head is a short measure and any a request for top which it says 'should be received with good grace.

Cracking bar, lots of character...did Erdinger non-alchohol which was just what I was after...

Lovely pub in a very picturesque small town on the southeast edge of the Lake District. Great interior, good furniture, great atmosphere and a wide and cracking range of beers and ciders. Beer brewed on site. Outstanding.

First class service, value and quality… been many times and always return when in the area. This is how to experience good beer and whilst menu is limited it is both consistent of quality and freshness … never disappoints!

Absolutely loved this place, great atmosphere and, according to beer loving other half, fantastic range of beers. Also good range of wines and gins. Also visited for coffee in the morning. We didn’t eat there - but will next time we visit Kirkby Lonsdale

Delicious Prosecco and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely eat here next time, the food looked really good.

I regularly go in for a pint and fined the beer and service excellent,only down side is the pub is to cold so the other wants to move on needs to be warmer.

Lovely place for coffee, drinks, pizza and meeting friends and family.

1st visit to The Royal Barn Service great Food lovely we had Flatbreads atmosphere really good we will definetely visit again.

Excellent ales lovely rustic ambience, remember it's marathon not a sprint and enjoy the full range of beers, ps there is coffee for the snowflakes 😉.

Fabulous range of delicious craft beers. Don't know about the food but looked good. Coffee was excellent too! Highly recommended!

Didn't eat here as we ate at the Royal, but can definitely recommend for drinks. Lovely quirky place with good atmosphere. It was packed on a Wednesday lunchtime which must be a good sign. Will definitely go again.

Only dropped in to buy some bottled beers, friendly and competent staff, good choice - though I think they should do a coffee beer.

Service was not great. Tables are regularly full or reserved so struggle to get in. Takes time to order drinks. Was told food would be served at 5.30 only to then be told we couldn't as there was a pre booked party in. Not the same as it once was.

Popped in here, mid afternoon on a Saturday and wow, it was mega busy. No tables available, however we decided to stay, get a drink and see if one would come up and it did. The choice of beers on offer was excellent, so many to choose from, with the added bonus of beer paddles, so you can taste a few different ones. A great mix of people and dogs, all added to an amazing atmosphere. Only downside, no pizza's were available in the afternoon on the day we visited. Would we visit again- most definitely

Visited tonight with 5 friends. Was really busy but accommodated no problem on pre booked table. Pizzas arrived within 20 mins of booking and were outstanding. Absolutely obvious why the place is so busy. Keep it up as an absolute credit to you and to the town

Excellent beers, great atmosphere, would recommend a visit.

Just visited with my son and had a pint of Tiffin Gold and sausage and bacon panuozzo. Absolutely delicious as always. Highly recommended.

Having been a regular customer for over 2 years now and always had great service, excellent coffee and food ( pizzas and panuozzos were fab) .............. But what a disappointment now! Staff (new staff) not so friendly in fact a little rude. Coffee served weak and cold. Its not the same. There are plenty of other lovely places to go in beautiful Kirkby Lonsdale but this is one place I will not revisit now.

Great venue with a vast array of hand pulled beers and lagers. Been several times but I am put off by the fact that they don't accept cash, unless it's the correct money. Not in favour of Cashless venues, it's a slippery slope. Otherwise it would be 5 stars

Love this place. Visited Kirkby lonsdale a couple of times now and really enjoy it here, it has a great atmosphere and lovely friendly staff, it’s dog friendly and serve’s good bar food . The local beer’s are good and the clientele are a good age mix. They even have the odd artist at the weekend. I’ll say no more just pay it a visit.

This was some of the best pizza we’ve ever had and we’ve had some good pizza… really lovely sourdough base, chewy and crispy just as it should be, and delicious interesting toppings. Good beer - we both tried brewery’s own. Lovely atmosphere and fun decor.

Wonderful atmosphere, dog friendly, great beer selection and amazingly fabulous home made pizza! Go! You will not be disappointed!

The best panuozzo sandwich this side of Naples in fact anywhere . Alongside the pub is their "little hole in the wall" pananuozzo servery where either for takeaway or eat at one of the simple tables they serve the most delicious panuozzo ...pita cross pizza toasted sandwich . Made on the spot , served in a simple recyclable box with one of the best rocket salads ever and the finest pickled veg ...all this on a UK sidewalk ...street food at its very best . The young staff that serve you are professional articulate and patient . Did I mention they are so dog friendly there is even a Bonio jar for your 4 legged companion . Much of Kirkby Lonsdale seems rather twee dare I say middle England so to find such a gem which could easily compete either in Franklin Square NY or Balboa Street SF is nothing short of a miracle

Called early afternoon and found the place to be fairly busy with a mix of people just having a drink and some eating. Food is only available mornings and lunchtime through the week but into the evenings at weekends. The Punuozzos were great, an interesting...

Amazing venue, great for lunch, wonderful staff, WiFi, stunning selection of ales or if you prefer, they even roast their own coffee. Highly recommended 👍👍

Came here to try pizzas tonight and we weren’t disappointed - lovely thin base and tasty toppings - best in Kirkby Lonsdale by far! Great real ale selection and good choice of gins too 😊

A very quirky pub with lots of unusual features. Well worth a visit. Staff very helpful and informative.

Stumbled upon this place by accident and enjoyed it so much we came back the next night too. The atmosphere was great - though it can be difficult to find a table - and there's a fantastic range of beers and drinks. Pizzas were huge...

Booked a table for 4 and was told downstairs was best as upstairs too stuffy for our dog. On arrival, downstairs was full, mostly locals making themselves comfortable by the looks of things. As it turned out, the lady who took my booking was correct...

Fantastic beers and range of gin’s at a reasonable price, good atmosphere with a country vibe and feel. Young lads working the bar were good on the first night on our second trip i noticed they were giving reduced rates of beer and free nuts/snacks...

Worth visiting if you like your ale. These are the locals beers of Kirkby Lonsdale. We tried them all over a week and personally I loved the Mild which you don't get everywhere. Did not have any food here but the menu looked interesting.

Great atmosphere and friendly service and an excellent range of beers, although how could they not when they brew their own? Didn't eat there, but the menu looked good. Covid precautions not intrusive and they'd divided the place up well.

Weekday afternoon so very quiet, on the day the first lockdown was declared, very comfy atmosphere, attentive staff and a loud coffee grinding machine that seemed very popular for take out ground coffee, nice place for a laid back drink.

Regardless of all the pressure of adjustments for covid regs. the Royal Barn continues to produce superb Beer, excellent service and a fantastic ambience . Just had an excellent night over there - the organisation and the staff make you feel totally comfortable - Pizza...

Visited in December. Went for a beer but was aware that to drink alcohol you must have a meal. Options given: two different quiches. Ok not a great choice but will do. Came in a cardboard box as if it was a takeaway with wooden...

Visited here daily during our weeks holiday as it was our favorite pub in the village.Great choice of ales and drinks and the staff where chatty and friendly also they made a fuss of our dogs giving them treats ect. The pub has a good atmosphere and a lovely log fire and is very covid friendly. A must visit if visiting kirkby Lonsdale.

The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the drinks they were serving COVID measures really good and relaxed atmosphere made an enjoyable visit for a drink!

Cracking little venue, staff superb on every visit, friendly well organised, vast array of drinks, coffees, cakes, got the young barmaid to pour me a Black Velvet, first time she had poured one,perfection.

Good atmosphere, beer, food and very friendly staff and a discount on beer for Camra members. Just get in if you can, as the place is popular among locals and tourists. Beer choice excellent 🍺

Busy for a Tuesday night during Covid-19. Nice bar and beer is good. Also the music they had on was good.
