We came to this little cafe in the heart of Britain as we had heard the food was delightful and the village was lovely. 100% accurate on both counts. Chef Carlos has a great imagination and it shows in the special sandwiches and desserts served. The sandwich I had was a chicken, ham, and avocado with garlic mayo on toasted white bread. My wife had the butternut squash falafel wrap with whipped feta and pickled beets. Chef's lovely wife Nicole extends charm and grace taking orders and dishing friendly conversation. We finished our meal with a slice of lemon icebox pie with a crust of ground digestives. It was light and delicate with a delicious taste. We walked around the village loving the smiles and friendly greetings of the village folk. Walking along the banks of the Tyne is beautiful and we visited the sites of Vindolanda and the Roman Army Fort along Hadrian's Wall. The museums are well curated and the sense of historical awe was powerful. This visit was a highlight of our trip to England from California.

Went to this tearoom today only to find it’s closed and has been since mid December apparently, it says on here open now, shame because staff were very welcoming and food was good.
We walked quite a challenging path across fields to reach this delightful pub. The beer is good, the food from the mobile unit in the car park is tasty and the view is refreshing. Just to cap it all the landlord Chris has a lovely smile is obviously well liked by the locals.
Called in to have a coffee while my bike was being repaired.
Very fortunate to have such expert service as my bike needed a bit of work carried out.
Brilliant service and excellent coffee and cake too.
Warm welcome, lovely atmosphere and owners who really care about customer experience. Top notch range of cocktails and friendly chat and advice. I hope Chris and Becca have much luck in their new venture. Cocktails are outstanding!
As a visitor to the town I came across Pier Red and was made to feel very welcome. The food looked amazing but unfortunately I'd already had lunch at a chain cafe. I wish now that I'd waited. The ladies serving were so friendly and helpful . I felt very at home with a lovely chilled white wine which they recommended. The atmosphere for a Wednesday afternoon was warm and friendly, I should also add the toilet was immaculate.
Stayed in Alston on a Wednesday night and this amazing pizza van arrived! The pizzas were freshly made, ready in 5 minutes and delicious! The staff on the van were very friendly and happy to make a pizza whichever way you wanted it.
Entorno encantador lugar hermoso y muy accesible para personas de movilidad reducida realmente anfitriones agradables y buena comida hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos volveremos muy pronto.
