Excellent! I had a lovely time at the establishment. The staff were really warm and friendly. Definitely visiting here again.

Great place for families to explore the countryside

Awful omelette. I asked not to have the chips served with an omelette and salad for £9:00 Still paid £9:00 for small salad with two fried eggs…not even combined, completely flat, crisp edges….the last thing you would describe as an omelette. Requested salad dressing ‘don’t have any’ was the answer. Small pot of mayonnaise was begrudgingly given after we requested it. Whole place smelt overwhelmingly of frying. Poor dale if it can’t summons up better food than this.

I took mum here for breakfast last week as we were staying in the area but when I asked what gluten free options were available the lady said "nothing". We had a coffee and left to find somewhere to eat - luckily the bakery/cafe along the street had a couple of sweet options available.

Ordered on line, nice and simple, easy to do. Food was ready on time when I went to collect We had a range of meals, starters and all were nicely cooked, good quantities and tasted lovely. Well worth the money

Been here before. We ordered 2 Pasties and 2 Coffees. The lady took our orders. The food was lovely. Coffee was lovely (nice and hot) The staff were very polite.,friendly, and helpful. Dogs are welcome too. We will be back again. Thank you.

Good food and fast, even though we arrived late on a Monday evening. It was difficult to find details / website on the internet so I called ahead. The surrounding area was really quiet (end of October) and it seemed to be the only place open which was amazing for us. Small, local pub. Really friendly, really good food that catered for our specific dietary requirements (fussy child!!). Lovely helpful people, and recommended local amenities. Would definitely go back if possible!

A group of 4 stayed over night whilst on the leg of C2C. The accommodation and food was exactly what we needed. Great food at a great price, comfy bed and friendly staff who couldn't have been more helpful. To top it off we had a breakfast to die for. In summary a great find not to be missed when in this neck of the woods, could not fault it, thanks to all at the pub.

Lovely bakers and coffee shop, Lattes were really good and the gluten free carrot cake was amazing. When you have coeliac you can’t always find somewhere that provides gluten free especially in small villages but I would definitely recommend Peggotty’s! We’ll be back.

We took this way as a change from Barnard Castle, Middleton in Teesdale, Alston route. What a super drive through Stanhope and up lovely quiet roads in beautiful countryside. Hill and dale, valley after valley, rivers and burns and more stone barns than you can imagine. We just happened upon this eating place and decided that it might be the last option. We were glad we did. The staff were very friendly and helpful with a bit of humour which always goes down well. The loos are upstairs, period in style and immaculate. The whole building must have been Edwardian Tearooms and still retains many of the original features. Furnishings are “ eclectic “, I think that is the right expression. The food is homemade not the often seen homecooked. The latter is really factory food heated up like you get at Franky & Bennys. I had homemade Steak pie, very tasty and filling. I forget my wife’s choice but she enjoyed it. They had a new lady cook who took over the day before. On this experience we will be back. Aside from the food, most of the antiques seem to have disappeared except the ones we were sitting on. Don’t except to see the stuff shown in the photos, it’s not there unless they restock. Amazing friendly pub/inn Set in a lovely village. Rooms were great and clean. Breakfast was perfect. Stayed here as were at KYNREN (2.5 miles away). So much more to do around the area too Had a great night as there was a village raffle on at night. All the locals super friendly too . Many thanks to George and his team for a great stay

Called for a Saturday tea and we were not disappointed. Fabulous quality and great portions. Not cheap but well worth the money. Will be a regular call for us now. Loads of amazing places to park up and eat so winner all round.
