Excellent! I had a lovely time at the establishment. The staff were really warm and friendly. Definitely visiting here again.

Visited this evening after a recommendation. We were not disappointed! The pub itself was very quiet due to the storm... however we were warmly welcomed. The food was absolutely delicious - best I've had in a long, long time. Our 19 month old had a whale of a time and, again, was warmly welcomed. Very reasonably priced too. Would highly recommend and we'll definitely be back.

Amazing friendly pub/inn Set in a lovely village. Rooms were great and clean. Breakfast was perfect. Stayed here as were at KYNREN (2.5 miles away). So much more to do around the area too Had a great night as there was a village raffle on at night. All the locals super friendly too . Many thanks to George and his team for a great stay

I have never left a review before of anywhere but I was so disappointed with the food and service. I had a sausage panini about 9 inches long which contained ONE (yes one) sausage covered in disgusting melted cheese. We waited 30 minutes for it after having been served our tea immediately so it was cold by the time the food came. There was a joke of a salad with it but the promised crisps never appeared. And…£7.50 for the sandwich. Really!!!!!???

Well, a very strange experience. On entering the cafe we were spoken to by an abrupt and rude assistant. She informed us there was no hot food as it was too late (2ish) but we said that was okay we would be having coffees and cake. She was so unwelcoming and stony faced as if she didn't want the custom. I sat down and let my husband order, I was so taken aback that I actually chuckled to myself. Here is somebody so obviously unhappy in her job. On a positive note our coffee was decent and served hot. Our cheese scone was also very tasty and warm. Its a shame the customer service is abysmal- its so bad that it is good!! The door notice stated 4.00pm closing but it was closed at 3.15. We would not recommend or return.

Didn’t stay so haven’t rated the rooms and an hour from home so driving and only one pint, so 3 star location only from a personal perspective - Weardale’s lovely. Visited for family funeral at the church opposite. Very welcoming, decent pint, delicious buffet - Jennifer’s homemade mini shortcrust mince & veg pies to die for, only the “diet” stopped me demolishing the lot!

Average at best. This place used to have the most incredible Sunday lunches but I wonder if it’s changed hands - as today was not good at all. We’ve just been for Mother’s Day lunch and my lamb was literally like shoe leather both in texture and colour. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten worse lamb. My partner had “The Vegetarian Roast” which although was nearly the same price as the meat option turned up and literally was just the vegetables that we were served with our meat with no main bit to it at all (used to come with vegetarian type but roast). When questioned if they had forgotten the rest of the meal we were told in a very sharp fashion that that’s all there was to it and no mistake???? When I asked the waitress for salt and pepper and then later asked if I could have some mint sauce she very sarcastically asked “anything else you want more”???? Not a pleasant experience at all and I would avoid at all cost. My daughter had the beef which was also grey and tough as old boots. I didn’t want to cause as scene as it was Mother’s Day and was meant to be a treat but it did ruin the day. We didn’t want to risk having the pudding and wasting anymore money so we left after the mains.

We took this way as a change from Barnard Castle, Middleton in Teesdale, Alston route. What a super drive through Stanhope and up lovely quiet roads in beautiful countryside. Hill and dale, valley after valley, rivers and burns and more stone barns than you can imagine. We just happened upon this eating place and decided that it might be the last option. We were glad we did. The staff were very friendly and helpful with a bit of humour which always goes down well. The loos are upstairs, period in style and immaculate. The whole building must have been Edwardian Tearooms and still retains many of the original features. Furnishings are “ eclectic “, I think that is the right expression. The food is homemade not the often seen homecooked. The latter is really factory food heated up like you get at Franky & Bennys. I had homemade Steak pie, very tasty and filling. I forget my wife’s choice but she enjoyed it. They had a new lady cook who took over the day before. On this experience we will be back. Aside from the food, most of the antiques seem to have disappeared except the ones we were sitting on. Don’t except to see the stuff shown in the photos, it’s not there unless they restock. Look forward to our next visit. Thanks.

Now called PLATFORM ONE- Fifteas Vintage Tearoom. Same type of seating indoor and outdoor but a brighter, fresher look with clearer signage. Cornedbeef pie was the order of the day. Nice light pastry and tasty filling. We took some jaffa orange cake back home and it was lovely and moist and delicious. Great pot of tea and a Cappuccino and much better service. A vast improvement on our last visit.
