Amazing friendly pub/inn Set in a lovely village. Rooms were great and clean. Breakfast was perfect. Stayed here as were at KYNREN (2.5 miles away). So much more to do around the area too Had a great night as there was a village raffle on at night. All the locals super friendly too . Many thanks to George and his team for a great stay

Just back from a lovely weekend stay at the Vic. The pub and rooms look as though they were refurbished yesterday - everything is immaculately presented and clean. We stayed in Room 4 which was spacious and had lovely views across the valley. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very clean. The pub has a good range of beers and an excellent selection of whiskies. Breakfasts were spot on. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Highly recommended and we will certainly stay there again when we next visit our friends in the village.

We travelled up from Ely to attend a family celebration that took place at The Victoria and were very happy to not have to worry about travelling elsewhere at the end of the evening. We arrived earlier than we expected and that wasn't a problem for George, who was busy mowing the lawn!! From arrival we felt incredibly welcome. The family party started at 2pm in the afternoon and went on in to the evening where we found the locals to be friendly, polite and welcoming! If the pub arranged the catering for the party, then hats off to you as the buffet sandwiches and dessert items were delicious and there was plenty of them. This is an old building, so we didnt expect it to be all pristeen and perfect, but it was perfect for us. Our room was spotlessly clean and welcoming - perfect for a relaxing overnight stay. Little touches make all the difference, and there are plenty of those! In addition, a mini fridge is located in the corridor for quests to select additional items. We had everything we needed. And some....as we discovered choccie bars in the hall! The bed was really spacious and comfortable and we were able to control the heat in the room, which was great as we like cool room, so we slept like a log! We had a big window where we could see the pretty village steet. The rear of the building has amazing views of the countryside. In the morning, we loved that you could build your own breakfast from a good choice. Black pudding is not for us, but the sausages, bacon mushrooms and scrambled eggs were delicious and set us up for the long drive home. There was a good selection of cereals and fruit juice too. We loved our stay. Great value for money, great service and an all round lovely experience. We will definitely be back and stay longer. Thank you George and the team.

We stayed here for a birthday night away for my wife. What a lovely b n b in a lovely village. The room had everything you need with lots of little touches. They had even got a card and present for my wife. We also took our dog and they had a present for him too. Great people in a lovely setting. Thanks Carolynne and George.

Plenty of teas n coffees in room and milk in fridge on landing. We went out for a meal and came back and pub was really busy, it was pizza night and it was rammed. Great selections of beers ciders snd spirits. Staff were very helpful and certainly earned their wages. Would definitely stop again, room cost £80 and included breakfast. Lots of cereals juices and thoroughly enjoyed it

Enjoyed a wonderful weekend including a special Events evening on our Golden Wedding anniversary with relatives who live in the village and Bishop. Nothing was too much trouble for George and family, and the roses and personalised card which greeted us on arrival in our room were a perfect example of the attention to detail. We have stayed here before, and will certainly be back. Pam & Brian Thompson, Philippa & Gareth Martyn.

My family stayed at the B&B and they couldn’t speak highly enough of the owners, they had a 5 star stay yet again, the owners really go above and beyond expectations and genuinely care about their guests. We met our family for pizza night to celebrate their Anniversary and had a fantastic time ,staff were very friendly and attentive, they couldn’t do enough for us even though they were very busy. The pub has such a welcoming, homely feel, we didn’t want to leave. Very accommodating for children, our little girl said “I loved it at the pub” We all will definitely return very soon.

Visited in May when we had to travel for a funeral. Room is amazing and cleanliness second to none, we stayed in room 5 which in our opinion is more like a 5 star hotel rather than a b and b. All of the little touches are there and the goody bags for the furry customers are a wonderful touch. Carolynne, George, Jess and Graham make you feel welcome from the start and do everything they can to make your stay the best. The breakfasts are delicious, most veggie breakfasts are insipid but theirs is superb. We have stayed here several times and can heartily recommend this oasis of calm and kindness to everyone. We will be back. Thank you to all of them team. X

Stayed here a few weeks ago and had an amazing time so when the need for a quick trip north happened there was only one place to stay. We were accommodated at short notice in the wonderful spotless room five, and as luck would have it it was pizza night so had amazing pizzas as well. Thank you once again and we shall be back in December for the amazing breakfast.

Stayed here for three nights and had the most fantastic stay. We were made to feel welcome from the very start and nothing was too much trouble. The room was amazing and immaculate with a beautiful view of the woods. The breakfast was perfect and the scrambled eggs were superb. To operate to such a high standard in such difficult times is difficult but this place has perfected every part of the service. We shall be back soon especially for the Gin night. Thank you to you all for a wonderful time.

My husband & I booked to stay at The Vic B & B for one night as we were attending a Wine & Cheese Evening so driving home wasn't an option. We checked into Room 4 which is a double room with a great view of the local countryside but unfortunately not on a grim December day!! When we retired after a great night, the room was warm & welcoming and the bed & pillows were perfect. Although the shower room was small we had everything we needed with lovely fluffy towels and toiletries. Having a magnifying mirror in the room was appreciated as was the generous hospitality tray. We'd pre-ordered breakfast which George served, accompanied by a cafetiere of excellent coffee. Although our stay was short, we would certainly recommend The Vic as a gem of a family run B & B.

My partner and I were in Bishop Auckland and came across this cosy B+B. We booked it over the phone, and were immediately told that there was availability. We had been driving most of the day, so it was a relief to find we had somewhere to stay. We arrived and were taken to the room, given a flask with milk, for our hot drinks. We settled into our room. It was a cosy, and had a stunning view. We were told that we could order a take away, which we did. We were given plates, cutlery and ordered drinks, while we had our takeaway dinner. The next morning, we had a freshly prepared breakfast, which was delicious. We then departed and headed back to London. 200 miles down the motorway, I realised i had left my purse (which had my card, drivers license, car keys, house keys).. of course, we were too far down south to return. I immediately called the Inn and spoke to the manager, who confirmed my purse was there. He then arranged to have it sent to me the next day, which he did. My purse arrived the following day, with everything exactly as I had left it. The service we received here, was second to none. I highly recommend you visit and enjoy the hospitality. I give this lovely little Inn a 10/10. We'll definitely be back. xxx

We stayed at the Victoria for just one night but we were very impressed with the standard of the room. Every thing was bright, fresh and clean, the bathroom was small but spotless with lovely fluffy towels. We had room 4 and had a super view looking out over the countryside - we turned the armchairs around to enjoy it. Good breakfast in the morning and George and Carolyn were great hosts. thanks

Visited The Victoria this Sunday for my birthday for Sunday lunch and we all enjoyed the meal and all cleared our plates. The meat was lovely, option of beef or pork, and there was plenty of veg. I noticed that staff would provide more gravy if it ran out, although we didn't need to. We will visit again.

We met up for a family lunch 24/02/2019 and were hugely disappointed. Waited half an hour after ordering and politely asked for our meal. A waitress came back plonked one serving platter of veg not adequate for two people never mind 3 of us and threw the serving spoons down. Two had beef - which was tough, greasy and tasteless. One Pork loin which was the only good thing about the meal. The mash was two tiny spoonfuls, the yorkshires hard and inedible and soggy roast potatoes.. Only 1 serving platter of veg and one and a half gravy boats with gloopy awful tasting gravy. We visited November 2018 and the food and service was so much better. We all had 3 x beef dinners, tasty beef, tasty veg, 2 serving platters of veg, lovely yorkshires and 3 gravy boats of great gravy. Much busier back then but better quality food and excellent service. How disappointed that standards have declined.. We did complain today at the time to a young waitress who asked if everything was alright and again to the barmaid. The barmaid was very apologetic but still took our money. Would not recommend and would not go back
