Consett & District Golf Club in County Durham

Course in terrible condition (30/3) in places it was more of a mud bath than anything else, even puddles on greens. Members we spoke to said it shouldn’t be open. Nothing mentioned when checking in other than mats on fairways and winter wheels on trolleys, not even a mention of a winter green in the middle of a fairway either. Wasn’t an enjoyable round or experience and probably wouldn’t return in all honesty.

Fabulous food, Fabulous staff, Warm and welcoming topped off with fantastic view of the Derwent valley. Also an excellent challenging course. And let's not forget a dam good pint of beer to top a great day off.

Played Consett just after heavy rain and although damp in places, the course held up well. Our 3 ball thoroughly enjoyed our day. Members were friendly and helpful, course really enjoyable, greens good, Stephen in pro shop and Kris the secretary were extremely welcoming and helpful. Would recommend.

On my 5th year here now and would probably say i will be a member here for life a good competition base with normaly 1 or 2 on a week course is always in good condition and club house is good with great views over the course and the food is also nice

First time I'd played Consett was OK, greens had just been hollow tyned and top dressed so that was disappointing.

Staff very friendly & welcoming, food exceptional with the clubhouse looking clean & tidy since my last visit pre covid, course in top condition although greens a little below par, showing signs of some sort of discolour / virus.

You will struggle to find tastier and better value on the food served here. 👍

Enjoyed a hot pork sandwich with homemade chips,very reasonably priced and gorgeous views.

Lovely course the road into it is terrible and guest have a separate car park wich is up a bit hill and pot hole galore don't see why guest can't park in normal car park abit snotty if you ask me

Friendly club house challenging course but please repair gents toilets

Really lovely course ,nicely laid out. Some tricky uphill par 3's. Really friendly member's who were willing to let you play through if you were held up and a nice pint in the bar before the off. Played again today, love this course but tough last 3 or 4 holes, especially if you played the day before at another hilly one

Golf society with 23 players, great day, golf course was in great condition. Staff in the clubhouse were fantastic food & service unbeatable value for money. Thank you for making our day enjoyable. Will be back next year

Probably the worst condition of any course I have played in the North East. The greens were like playing on roker beach. To charge full price for this course is shocking.

Superb course with views that will captivate from the club house

First off.... we played in horrendously windy conditions which didn't lend itself to a great game of golf, but that's the only real bad point. Lovely course and very scenic. The greens were for the most part immaculate and whilst hilly in parts it never felt a slog. We had travelled quite a way to play there and were almost sent away as none of us had winter wheels on out trolleys. Not something I've ever come across at another course. The official let us play so long as we kept our trolleys on the light rough and off the fairways. We were told not to play off the fairway and instead to take a fairway mat or move the ball to the light rough from the fairway! I totally get looking after the course but you also have to be able to play golf. Unfortunately because of all the placing of matts and moving of balls our 4 ball wasn't the quickest round the course. In light of the pending covid closure I found it strange that we couldn't hit off the fairways as the course would have a month to repair! In closing the course is fantastic the pedantic rules kinda spoiled the game though.

Nice course, great greens and lovely view's.

Second time I have played this course and second time I have left thinking what a great course. Previous night was rain of almost biblical proportions but course held up very well. Course overall in very good condition, great layout and fair to all levels of golf. Club house looks excellent. Happy days, really can't fault it.

Yes my craft club go there every Christmas for our clubs Christmas dinner there spot on wouldn't want to go anywhere else love the place

Although Consett Golf Club may not be the first place you might think of if you want a fabulous Sunday lunch, I would suggest that you think again. Their excellent Sunday lunches, served from 12.00 - 14.00, are excellent value at £7.95 each and included a choice of braised steak, roast pork &roast beef served with huge Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, 3veg &lashings of gravy. Portions were very generous. The lamb was available for £2 more. There was also a choice of 4starters &several desserts -the cheesecake with fresh strawberries &cream was very tasty as was the 'Spotted Dick' & custard. Although there was not a huge selection of wines, their prices were very reasonable. All staff were very friendly but another major plus about having a meal here was the majestic views looking over the golf course to the Derwent Valley &the hills beyond. The views are difficult to beat! There is also a reasonable lunchtime menu featuring old fashioned English favourites. The golf course itself is also very challenging! Well worth a visit.

After not having played concert for a long time we returned after a heavy downpour of rain the course was in absolute immaculate condition great fairways There are no two holes the same don’t expect a flat a golf course as there are some good claims on the holes it is very varied and some very good par-3 is the clubhouse is very nice and had an open roaring fire when we were there

Another great experience. The fact that we played on the hottest day of the year made it a tough round. Finished with a nice pint.

Very good course conditions. Nice and warm friendly club house. Members and staff always willing to help and very friendly. I'll give it 9 out 10. Keep on doing the same thing. Cheers for a good day.

Had our son’s christening buffet here and the food was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, and a good selection of drinks behind the bar. Can’t recommend highly enough. Thank you so much to all involved to make the event very special.

Excellent course and restaurant.

Wet in places, understandable considering recent weather. Greens brilliant for time of year. Hopefully sort out aprons this season as there bare.

Can’t rave about the gold club enough! We went with my parents and grandparents whilst we were up visiting! The value for money and quality of food is to die for..... there were 7 adult and 1 child and it cost £80 including drinks! Best Sunday roast ive had in along time!!!!!

although its not a long course its very demanding lots of hills but great views but boy you need to be fit i walked never again buggy next time its quite a few years since i last played here but really enjoyed it apart from needing a lie down after finishing all in all a good test of golf

Great family 18th birthday party in a friendly atmosphere

Just had a lovely Sunday dinner it was fantastic and good value for money

I visit this venue once a month when my wife and I take two of our granddaughters for Sunday Lunch. We have ate at almost every pub and restaurant in the Consett area and not one of them can touch the Golf Club. Lovely food, well cooked with good size portions, pleasant helpful staff and a fantastic view whilst eating your meal. Having tried the rest we now only visit the best, well done to the kitchen and serving staff.

Course and Staff were great however left after 9 holes as some clown was teaching his young son and holding people up

Visited for Sunday lunch with my wife and two granddaughter 's, as usual we were made very welcome, shown to a table with views for miles and our orders were promptly taken. The meals were delicious as usual, well cooked and served with a good selection of vegetables and lovely meaty gravy. Must be the best meal in the area.

Was here for a wedding reception. Very small and cozy space.

course was a mess , and grounds staff had no consideration for people playing-as one instance we had to wait for 10 minutes to play our shots as they decided to cut the grass in front of us and we were on to our second shot, but I personally found it a very hilly and a big tight in respect that the games around you are easily involved with your games if they or yourself have a bad shot.

The quality of the food here is always excellent the service prompt and the staff friendly. The view from the clubhouse can't be matched by any other establishment in the area, absolutely outstanding.

Another fantastic meal, the Club House staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful, tables are well laid out and spotlessly clean and the meals are superb, I had Braised Steak and my two granddaughters had Beef and Chicken. Large portions with a good selection of vegetables at a very reasonable price, too stuffed for desserts.

we have had several meals there after golf and everyone has been good, well cooked meat braised steak and onions meat and potato pie and mushy peas, Sunday roast lovely good quality food cooked by Brain the chief .

Met the husband for lunch after his around of golf. Good portion size and great value for money. My only little negative is my chicken was a little dry but would definitely go back.

Great test of golf. Challenging and would be better for playing a second time when you know where to hit the ball. The course is on a valley side; hence many sloping fairways. Very difficult in the wind - it was 20mph gusting to 40 when we played. The clubhouse has spectacular views over the 18th and the valley with North Pennines beyond. Access road is tight and visitor parking on steep slope.

Each month I travel to the Consett area to take two of my grandchildren out for Sunday lunch. We are gradually running out of places to eat at as I try to visit somewhere different each month and only occasionally do we visit the same place.

What a good golf. Best of all , it's free!!!!!!!!
