Maple Patisserie in County Durham

Warm welcoming cafe, smelt heavenly with all the baked goods! The staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere felt relaxing when I went in to order. Did get a tea to takeaway, which was nice.

First time of visiting this morning ,lovely atmosphere, lots of hot and cold drinks ,lovely friendly staff ,nice selection of savoury and sweet food,will definitely be going again.

Solo estábamos buscando una parada de café, pero vimos un cartel que decía que habían ganado un premio por sus pasteles, así que tuvimos que probar algunos. Pedimos dos capuchinos especiados de arce y una rebanada de pastel de pistacho. Los cafés eran preciosos y no demasiado dulces con especias de arce, pero podría haber sido ligeramente más caliente. Ahora para el pastel, ¿qué puedo decir que fue absolutamente increíble! No hubo defectos en toda la presentación, el sabor, el tamaño y lo húmedo que estaba simplemente nos dejó boquiabiertos! Tanto que trajimos un poco de pastel de cereza y almendras de vuelta a casa para probar y eso también fue increíblemente bueno! Cualquiera en la zona llegar a este lugar encantador!

Hands down the best cake I've had in my life. Bought a slice on a whim and just had to buy another slice of a different cake to try at home. Both were perfect, I hope they don't change a thing because we're planning the two hour trip again soon just for more cake! Staff were also incredibly friendly and polite, but were overshadowed by the cake, (sorry guys!) The venue was very tidy and comfortable and the prices very reasonable, let alone for such quality. Overall a fantastic experience with literally zero negatives!

Ordered this praline pumpkin cake for our grandson’s birthday - delicious, fresh - definitely recommend!

Stopped in after lunch to grab a cake and tea and it was amazingly delicious! And such a large slice of cake I had to take the other half home with me! Will definitely be stopping by again after work more x

My mum and I had Afternoon Tea and it was lovely. Coffee is excellent, and all pastries were truly amazing. The place is cozy and comfortable and the service is great. I definitely recommend it!

Our neighbours had a barbecue in our communal garden and the strawberry cheesecake was our dessert. OMG that has to be the BEST cheesecake I have ever tasted and I've tasted a lot. Thank you Maple Patisserie. Will definitely be calling into your shop next time I'm in Durham.

I phoned at 9am requesting if there was any possibility of cakes being delivered to my workplace by 11am, thinking in reality it was probably a longshot! Well the lovely lady (Im so sorry for not remembering your name) on the phone, despite being stuck in traffic at the time, managed to get back to the shop, choose the most amazing selection of cakes, sliced and beautifully boxed them and got them to my work just a few minutes past 11. Apart from the impressive service, those cakes were a dream! My colleagues and I were delighted, some saying they never tasted cake like it. Thank you so much for everything. Highly recommended 💖

Para cualquiera que visite el centro de Durham no puedo recomendar Maple Patisserie lo suficiente. Tienen una gran selección de sándwiches y tostadas de mermelada llenos de relleno. Sus tartas, tartas, cheesecakes y scones son insuperables y siempre tenemos problemas para decidir cuál elegir cada vez que visitamos y hemos probado la mayoría de los que están en oferta, mis favoritos particulares son el pastel de vainilla de arándano, pastel de zanahoria y chocolate blanco, pistacho y tarta de frambuesa. El personal es amable y servicial, nada es una molestia.

Wife and I called for a coffee but decided to take the "scone & drink" special. Coffee was nice and the scone cram and jam was delicious. "2nd time we've been and can't fault the service either.

Lovely afternoon tea. Staff was super friendly, and the food and drinks were delicious.

We came for high tea on Mother's Day. Absolutely scrumptious - I awkwardly am veggie and do not like onions and they fully accommodated for this. Our personal fave was the pistachio and raspberry tart. Had to take home leftovers! Also was offered multiple hot drinks which was included as part of the high tea - excellent value for money. Will come again!

My mum ordered an assortment of pastries around closing time, and the wonderful lady at Maple hand delivered them despite the little technical niggles. The pastries are the best I have had in Durham. Best A Maple Fan from Sherburn Village

Had lunch here today with my children. We each had a toastie; sweet chilli chicken and Greek chicken with pesto and cheese, all were delicious. We also had white chocolate hot chocolate which was to die for. Really reasonably priced and dog friendly. Lovely little cafe

I popped in for a takeaway sweet treat. There was so much to offer that I was stuck between the chocolate brownie and the early grey and lime cake.....in the end I got both! Wow am I glad I did! Absolutely scrumptious!!

A lovely little stop off in Durham, coffee is top tier and the staff are wonderful. The best coffee shop in Durham IMO. You'll honestly struggle to find anywhere that makes better cakes.

My favourite bakery in the whole world. The cakes are unreal; I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying the chocolate raspberry and the lemon earl grey and they exceeded my expectations. Amazing staff and service to top it all off!

Coffee was just perfect, and the cheesecake was to die for.. Staff are super friendly and welcoming. It’s a very quaint little place, you can sit in a very warm and relaxing atmosphere…. I chose a seat with a slight view of the cathedral.

Called in today for a quick coffee, didn’t want anything to eat but one look at the cakes and cheesecake it was rude not to try. Absolutely delicious cheesecake and superb flat white to wash it down with. First class customer service, friendly, polite. What more could you ask ? Highly recommend this place !!!!!

We first came across this small & friendly family-run patisserie not long after it first opened last year & what a find! Everything is made in the shop, the coffee is great & the cakes are fabulous 👌 When we visited yesterday we discovered Maple has recently been awarded Durham Baker of the Year which is no surprise & so well-deserved..fantastic 🥳

Good place for coffee and pastries, but service could use some work - don't expect to be allowed to stay if you arrive less that 15 minutes before closing time.

Absolute gem of a place. I love it. The coffee is excellent, flat white spot on. The cakes and scones are another level. The cheesecakes are the best I’ve had, and I’m hard man to please with cheesecakes! The peanut butter one 10/10. Everything is made there too, not bought in and pretending to be homemade like other places often do. It truly is a wonderful little place and highly recommended.

Fantastic place, very friendly staff. Heavenly cakes and delicious coffee. It took us approx 10mins walk from the train station. Place is located on Durham Riverwalk right on the tourist trail to the Cathedral. Recommen any day! Thank you

Afternoon tea but as a takeaway, best in Durham, highly recommended. Cakes light and fluffy as where the scones. Sandwich's very filling and loads to choose from. I could just imagine this tea as a picnic too. Graduation tea on the lawn maybe?

I recently visited with my wife for our 6 year wedding anniversary for an afternoon tea. I told them in advance that my wife is vegetarian and this was no problem, they catered perfectly for her needs making the sandwiches specially for her. The date and walnut scones were incredible, we had to go back the next day to take some home. From the moment we walked through the door the customer service was perfect and friendly, we couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Thank you for making our break away that little bit extra special.

Iv been going since it first opened & what a great addition to the city. Staff are so welcoming and friendly. The cakes are amazing and i think I may have tried them all. I pop in for a scone at least once a week as they change them and introduce new flavours and there always fresh made & served with proper butter. It’s great with the offer with a coffee as I do love the coffee here to and I’m really fussy when it comes to my coffee. I always recommend this place to all my clients as I work in the city centre.

Just want to give Maple Patisserie the 5 stars it deserves. One of our regular watering holes and always delightful. Today I had a fruit scone and strawberry jam. I was offered both butter and cream as well as a choice from a fabulous range of sweet and savoury scones. Scone was freshly baked and perfect. Husband had a honey cheesecake which was also fabulous. In fact we have never had anything that has not been fresh and fabulous! A fantastic addition to Durham City.

Stopped in for a coffee and a scone. They did not have what I had originally chosen and the scone I got was really small and dry. It was served with what seemed to be margarine. £5 deal did not feel like much of a deal…

Arrived for a coffee and seen the amazing homemade delights they had on selection! Staff were amazing, friendly and helpful- family run business. We bought a few different things cheese cake tarts to name a few. Best desserts I’ve had in a seriously long time! Would absolutely recommend this spot! Will absolutely be back for more! 10/10

We have been to shop a few times and everything we have tried have been exquisite, cakes and tarts are amazing and all made in the shop by the 2 owners, they are so friendly and welcoming not to mention the coffee is by far the best in Durham.

I visited with a friend on Saturday for an afternoon tea to celebrate my birthday. The food was great, my personal favourite was the raspberry and white chocolate scone, one of the best scones iv tried(and I work as a baker!). Service was very friendly and efficient. Good value for money too, will definitely return 🙂

Everything is chef’s kiss. Can’t say how much I miss their banana bread and blueberry cheesecake! The only place makes me wanna go back to Durham :))

Small cake and coffee shop run by a lovely lady who bakes all the cakes. Warm, friendly welcome and super service at very reasonable prices. The walnut and coffee cake was probably the best cake I have ever had and wife's piece of sponge cake with rosewater was excellent. Add to this superb coffee and it's a wonderful treat.

An amazing take-away afternoon tea experience!

Maple Patisserie prepared an afternoon tea at short notice, we wanted to welcome guests to St Giles Church for my Grandads funeral and had travelled from Manchester. Gorgeous sandwiches and beautiful cakes were prepared with just a few minutes notice. We were able to deliver a warm welcome to those who had travelled, this meant a great deal to the family. A delightful little find in Durham city

Sorry to put 3 stars only, we were planning to have a proper afternoon tea since 3 days, changed our plans to come to this cafe as afternoon tea option was advertised. Saw nowhere it had to be booked 24 hours in advance. It is my sister’s last day in the UK and I wanted to offer this experience. Very little flexibility on the spot or clear communication on how long it would take… or offering an alternative…Another comment, tea comes in tea bags which is not very sufficient as an experience.

Lovely toasted sandwiches, had Greek sandwich and patisserie mouth watering.

I had a slice of gooey chocolate deliciousness and an unusual herbal tea!! Loved visiting this beautiful patisserie and enjoyed the walk along the river to get there!

Wonderful family-run cafe with very friendly staff who are always up for a chat Coffee is lovely and smooth, and the cakes are delicious 🍰 Highly recommend this cafe and will be returning to try other items on the menu!

We have visited this cafe on several occasions and yet to be disappointed. The staff are very friendly, the cakes are amazing and a good selection of hot beverages. Desperate to try the afternoon tea on our next visit. I would highly recommend the toasties too!!

Now been twice and it was lovely both times. Only tried their cake selection so far but the toasties are on the radar next time! Staff are always wonderfully polite.

Just popped in here with family for lunch and it was lovely. Best toasties in Durham ! Gorgeous, fresh cakes/scones and I opted for a scone with jam and cream. Sister had the biscoff chocolate egg filled with biscoff cheesecake filling, that was just gorgeous !! Staff were very friendly and welcoming and it was very clean and tidy. They also have water for the dogs at the door ! Can highly recommend Maple Pattiserie !

What a fantastic place, just what Durham was in need of. Newly established, family run bespoke Patisserie that is beautifully decorated with friendly staff and I’ve not even started on the home made delicacies you will find there. Lemon tarts, fruit tarts, Blondies, Brownies, carrot cake, croissants for those in a rush with a take out coffee. They are all amazing and the afternoon tea is well worth the visit too. Don’t delay make sure you get a visit in soon as not only is this a gem of a place the views of the castle are spectacular too.
