Dandy at the Bay Horse in County Durham

Lovely restaurant we visited mid week and it was really quite we were the only ones in the restaurant the food was nice and the staff very pleasant

We checked the website for a menu, but it wasn't exactly clear what was available at lunchtime, so we rang. If you want an "express lunch" then the menu makes sense, but for anything more, Wolsingham's "footfall" doesn't lend itself to full main courses, (which is quite understandable), other than in the evening. However, the landlady was really accommodating and said if it was a main meal we wanted, then she'd be pleased to serve that - now that's good customer service ! There were 4 of us for lunch, and although it was a bit of a wait for the meals to be (freshly) prepared, we were catching up with old friends, so were quite happy just chatting. When they came, the meals were lovely, and very good value, so we ordered desserts for afters. We would definitely recommend The Bay Horse, but if in doubt at lunchtimes, just ring and let them know you're coming.

2nd time I've booked The Bay for Mothers Day. Same as before, the welcome was friendly by all the staff we talked to and the atmosphere is warm and cozy. We had the set 3 course meal each and 2 glasses of Merlot for £37.00, which for Mothers Day (or any other day really) is a bargain! The main course was a carvery....and it was amazing!...we tried the red cabbage in spiced apple juice, yummy and the cauliflower cheese....and to top it all off the desserts were large and tasty. We will be back!

Aparcamos en Tunstall Reservoir y fuimos a dar un paseo. Bajamos en la ciudad de Wolsingham y almorzamos en el caballo. He publicado una imagen menú del almuerzo. Tenía bocadillo tostado y patatas fritas para panini y añadido £1 (sí, sólo una libra! ). No es fino pero sólido bien preparado almuerzo en un pub de tarifa. Que era exactamente lo que estábamos buscando. Camarero muy amable y servicial. Las cervezas también muy bueno. Recomendado!

Reservé este hotel para un grupo familiar de 8 personas, incluyendo niños y un perro. El servicio era estupendo, y un relajado ambiente agradable en el bar donde comimos. Las hamburguesas eran increíbles! Sin duda comer aquí de nuevo, gracias :).

Lovely warm welcome, Sunday lunch with family, good food the deserts looked fabulous but didn't have room unfortunately, dog friendly too will definitely be back.

Encontramos este pub casi por accidente. No hay problema para conseguir una mesa y la camarera era muy encantador.Comida típica de pub, con un toque.Todo lo que pedimos estaba servido sin embargo caliente dos veces patatas fritas parecía que había visto días mejores.La factura no corresponde con los precios del menú, como ella la camarera era horror había estado fuera por una semana. En general un buen tiempo y volveré.

The best sausages ever, they are made for them specially, the best I've ever had anywhere. Bacon beans tomatoes egg and toast, what more do you want. Will be back.

Went in with family a few weeks back, had aubergine lasagna and chips with garlic stottie. Was really good. Was a very long wait, but the staff were very friendly and attentive. Not mad at the food in this town at all.

The meals are outstanding so much so that we refused to eat elsewhere during our weekend stay despite visiting nearby town and villages. The portions are HUGE I Will be shocked if you leave the restaurant hungry

A short visit with friends. We were very pleasantly surprised with the accommodation. We both had rooms on the front with balconies (our friends had a suite so a choice of 2 rooms for them!) the dinner was lovely with the tempur prawns highly recommended by the 3 who had them. The breakfast choice from the menu was good too. The owner Graeme and his staff couldn't have been more accommodating...all very friendly. Would go back.

Went as a couple for a little break. Dinner bed and breakfast was all lovely. Staff are friendly and room was great. Would go again.

Decided to try 'Dandy at the Bay Horse' as it was under new management. What can I say, very much an improvement. Staff were friendly, food was perfect and overall atmosphere was great.

50 min wait for a dry,tasteless burger in a dry crumbly bun. Came with red onion on salad when I'd categorically stated that I am unable to eat them. Good food under previous management. Sadly, no longer. Won't be back.

Went for a meal here last night. As it has just been taken over by new people .. Lovely warm pub.. A great choice of beveridges . Warm and welcoming staff.. And to top it off a fab meal.. Will defiantly be returning

Lovely Warm atmosphere filling food, Some decent craft ales and had a range of Cocktails. This is a sister venue to Dandy Longlegs in Sunderland.
