The best restaurants serving Default food in Chaucer Southwark London

I found the restaurant via Google and I truly hope more of you guys out there finds this small Asian pearl. We, a family of four with very different food preferences went from Doumo happy, all of us. We had sushi, gyoza, ramen and fried chicken. Everything very well prepared, good size and excellent service. Doumo is well worth a visit. We recommend it strongly.

Based on some great reviews on Google we decided to give this place a go after a long day out. This was one of the worst foodie choices I have ever made. If you can't get the taste of a chicken tikka masala right then there must be something wrong. I could have rung the bag out which contained my onion bhaji and cooked about another 30 of them with the oil it contained. The chicken masala was literally swimming in oil also. We won't be eating here again that's for sure. By the way. Why are trip advisor letting the owner or chef of the business post constant 5 star reviews? Shabul K? Really. Thanks to the last reviewer who pointed this out.

Wow! Hey, is this a cafe you should visit. Yes, of course you should. For once a comfortable, delightful, friendly cafe. Where time is on your side. I was passing by, and the rain said, "Stop here and dry out for a while." Relax, take it easy, no hurry, drink a coffee, and soak up the atmosphere.

We were staying in the area and ordered the fish & chips. The portion sizes were generous and filling! I’m picky about my fish & this was excellent: light breading, crispy, not greasy, and the fish was perfectly cooked. Highly recommend!

Table service is extremely slow. The man waiter (to describe him accurately, he is the man who is on the heavier side of the weighing scale, with a beard and wears glasses) is rude. The said waiter initially said food will be served in 30 minutes. At the 45 minute mark, food was still not there. When i told him that I will only be paying for coffee because I had to leave, he literally said “I told you so that it will take 30 minutes.” I told him that its been 45 minutes since I ordered and he just said “Well, thats how it is.” Food is actually good. Very bad customer service. If you are happy to wait for about an hour for your food, by all means.

I hate doing these as this place is local to where I live and I’ve been going there on and off for years. I have to warn people though the food is not fresh. We had a couple of coffees today along with a cinnamon bun from the window when it arrived it was rock hard and crumbling we sent it back and asked for a fresh one. We heard the waitress ask the chef which of them were fresh, he replied that he didn’t know , she came back and offered to give us our money back which didn’t turn up. When we asked for the refund she gave us the money. No apology, no admittance that selling old stale food. Now I don’t mind people who would buy yesterdays pastries for a discount or at the very least knowing that they were sub standard but in this case they are being sold right now at full price with no remorse that’s the problem. So if you go there any buy food beware. I gave them 2 stars as the coffee was ok

Lovely food and a very nice woman serving. Would come again for sure. They don’t sell alcohol but will let you bring some in if you want

Located just round the corner from Borough Tube, seats outside, comfy seats inside, the guy serving's English was not the best and probably I did not end up with the best choice. I ordered a toasted chicken Panini, a coffee and went and sat down. There was a lot of coming and going and the guy brought me my coffee, I did wait a little longer that I expected, and when the Panini came, it was fresh, but a little dry. Would I come back - yes, its in a convenient place and I would certainly persevere with the guy who took the order, as there seemed to be a lot more better looking dishes going past.

Nice food, amazing staff. Simple

We stayed here for one night and it was a great experience. The staff are friendly & helpful & the hotel was clean. We arrived early & an early check-in was no problem for them at all. The hotel is actually very quiet given that it’s in London & we all slept so well. The location is good for Tate Modern & Borough Market.

Great venue addition to the LGBTQ+ community

Ended up here after a really bad experience at the oxo tower for my birthday dinner. I’m glad now as our food was delicious. It was happy hour until 7pm so i had some lovely porn star martinis. We hadn’t pre-booked but we’re still accommodated. The server was great, we had a mixed grill platter for 2 and end up bringing some home, sides were warm and tasty and the complimentary bread was so fresh! would definitely recommend eating here!

This is a lovely traditional pub. The staff were really friendly and the Sunday roast was absolutely excellent - quality and value. Highly recommend

Always my go to sushi place 🍣 🍣 stays fresh when late at night when they're closing. 50% discount half an hour before closing definitely is a good deal! 👍
