Long Lane Fish Bar in Southwark

Came all the way down to taste their fish and chips after seeing it on the bbc news and It was better then expected

Unfortunately the food was totally tasteless :(

I found Long Lane Fish Bar more than ten years ago, when I stayed down the street in the apartment complex. Since back then I paid them quite a few visits and they always delivered! Usually I take it to the small park a few hundred meters east of the Fish Bar.

I was looking for a place selling fish and chips while I had a 12-hour stopover in London. Long Lane Fish Bar had the best fish I've ever had! They are cash only, however the best places to get amazing food at a great price are cash only. The amount of service vehicles (taxis, garbage men, etc.) parked outside was a good indication of the quality here. 10/10 highly recommended by me!

Small portions Onipn rings were burnt ro a crisp and the curry sauce pot you get is so tiny for the price

I ordered rock and chips for delivery it was 20 minutes late so I rang the shop to ask where it was they just said it been delivered and rang off quite unconcerned.so they took my money for nothing

Noticed the fish and Chip shop had recently changed hands and was offering a very tempting Cod and Chips for £5 I couldn't resist, the staff were very friendly and the shop well presented with a clear and extensive menu, the cod and chips were excellent thank you will be visiting again.

the chips were horrible and the fish tasted old

I have still not received my order despite it saying “delivered at 13:48”. Driver messaging me to say my address is wrong! Is this some kind of a joke my address is clearly detailed on my account so why would your driver take my food elsewhere ???

Bit of a let down, no salt and onion vinegar on chips!! And a sachet of ketchup instead of a bottle what I paid for.

I hate to give this place this few stars. The staff were so kind and the service was amazing. However, I immediately got food poisoning after taking three bites of the fish and eating half my chips. The fish smelt and tasted really fishy and didn’t seem right from the start. The chips were good but apparently my stomach didn’t agree with them. I really had high hopes for this place

My local fish shop. Even before I moved to the area I used to come here. Such a great reputation and excellent service and food.

Paid for full rack of ribs but received half rack, and putting cold drinks in the same bag as hot food is crazy

The fried fish is good but you have to pay extra for condiments.

It was just fish and chips and it was fine! Delivered hot and on time. Just one thing: the "small" portion of chips was enormous: I had to leave about half - and I don't like waste.😱

We visit London for the first time, after sightseeing, we went to many different places for food, but one thing London famous for is fish and chips. We had to try one, but my wife and daughter don’t like fried food so I had to find some place for me to eat. Near our hotel there’s this place called long lane fish bar, and they only accept cash so I had to get some money from the ATM. The price is quite reasonable and I took out instead of eating in. The fish is very crispy and tasty with tartar sauce (had to pay $.50), there’s no vinegar although the server squirt some in the fries. The fries are excellent, very fresh potato IMO. I love fish and chips, remembered H salt chain restaurants in the state that closed down many years ago. Well, I came back again on Monday but it closed, couldn’t have some before we went home.

I lovedddd the fish & chips here!!!!. The fish is soft covered in thin crispy batter. Wouldnt have come by if i wasnt doing laundry next door. Such a hidden gem!

At our last day in London we wanted an original Fish&Chips - and we got it here, freshly handmade and very tasty!

good traditional food, but in this day and age where most people seldom need to or bother to carry cash it is a real pain that they dont accept cards.

Disgusting kept waiting for hours and then complete wrong order delivered. Delivery guy won't take back say. This is what they gave him. Out of pocket by £60 takeaway say contact just est. Just eat say contact restaurant. What a waste and disappointment.

Lack of tables n chairs to dine in , this place serves authentic fish n chips with large portion that will fill in your tummy to the fullest, and beef of all at an affordable price. If you're in town around the Borough Street, pls do give them a visit. The boss is super friendly too. 🙌

Wouldn’t get delivery from here again. Massive attitude from the driver because we couldn’t find one another, despite me ringing multiple times he either didn’t pick up or wouldn’t listen. Finally found each other, he exclaimed that he’d been waiting this entire time outside the gate but clearly hadn’t been as when I left to try and find him on my way back I then saw him walk up to the agreed meeting point. I understand it was frustrating but there was no need for his tone.

Excellent 👍🏼 and perfectly perfect. The food arrived on time and hot. Sooo nice. Yummy batter and perfectly crisp fat chips.

Delivery driver quick & very polite

Clean and tidy Fish N Chip shop. Usual selection of batter assortments to select from. The service was really quick, even in a really busy Saturday 7pm queue. The service was also friendly. I'm afraid the photo doesn't do it justice but when we got home the large Cod and Chips was crazily big. I mean so much for food for the price and it was really delicious. I would definitely be coming back in some future time.

I had my team training day and we ordered about 10 cod and chips among other things and everyone ate well. The food was fresh and delicious. Thank you and we will definitely be back 😘

Went for the small cod with chips and drink and it was very good - and not even that small. Makes me wonder how big the large cod and chips must be! Will happily order again.

You don't come here for the atmosphere, there is also no seating. You come here because it is seriously the best chip shop around.

Great Fish and Chips at exceptional value and service! £5.30 for a small cod which was more than a decent size and they threw in a few chips on the house. Best chippy in the manor. Cash only. Cash Machine is adjacent. Highly recommended. Will be back v.soon

Everything about this place screams authentic and delicious! This was my go To place in Uni and now anytime I go back To London I have to stop by. There’s a nice park nearby as well that you can take your takeout too.

Yes, and yes . The chips are just the right combination of soft and crunchy. Serve yourself salt and vinegar, which i recommend the gerkin vinegar (clear one). The premises are clean and staff friendly. Forget you fancy pants, coffee, and cake shop ( which are just up the road). Get yourself a chip roll and a cold drink from here. You will not regret it. This is comfort food personification. I would have only been made better if it was raining. ( you can only understand this if you were to do it) whilst eating your food, take a left out the door walk a few metres and see a secret London history hiding in plain sight in the shape of WW2 ARP (rescue services) stretchers re purposed as fences (see picture)

Very good example of traditional UK fish and chips shop. The food is deep fried but not greasy. The people working here are friendly and welcoming as well. I recommend trying this shop if you are a visitor who wants to try some food not aimed directly at tourists.

Very nice traditional fish and chips shop. They made some restorations. The previous look was better but still it’s a good place. The taste of fish and chips is the same and delicious. They used to serve it with wood fork but now they use plastic fork now. Bermondsey feels you happy with Long Lane Fish Bar

Spicy chicken is amazing. Everything is amazing there. You have to go. Prices are very reasonable. One of best kept secret in London.

I paid £13.50p for a piece of Rock and the size of it a child could have eaten it. Very disappointed will NOT be going there again. I have a photo to show you if needed. Many Thanks Paul

best fish and chips in the area

I ordered a large cod and small chips - I am sure they got this the wrong way round as the fish certainly was not large and the chips enormous. Too tired and hungry to complain directly but won't order again from them!

We paid around £15 for two small cod and chips and a plain sausage. It was all amazing and the staff were lovely! We will be coming here again!

Really good chippy in London,proper chips

We've been there directly bevor the first covid lockdown and bevor they renovated. It was already great! Now We've been there for the second time and in my opinion it's still simple but the best fish and chips we ever had. My Girlfriend has had the vegetarian tofish and I had the cod with chips. The portions are really big and the price is more that fair. The Guys that work there are really friendly and the food ist just awesome. Just go there!

very good traditional British fish & chips at the area, established in 1939. I recommend to everyonr to ha have take away fish and chips with lowest prices.

For the price I paid, i was very disappointed. I Paid £12 for a large cod and what I got was a medium size cod, the oil they fried the fish in was stale, because the fish stank and taste of old oil. I have purchased large cods fish in the pass from other restaurants and they come in much bigger. I also purchased Chips which cost £5+ and it looked old,and soggy, the portion I received was only worth £3. The price was excessive for the quality that I received. I will never buy from this fish and chip shop again. Dissatisfied Customer

Friendly customer service. I only had a chip butty whilst on a break and thoroughly enjoyed it. Chips were highly satisfying and a good portion.

Ordered a chicken burger , did not bothered to put any sauces or salad got a dry bun with a piece of chicken inside , small cod fish was very small ,and the chips were quiet dry . Very disappointed
