All round nice fish and chips and friendly staff.

We stopped by chance and what a culinary joy to discover this restaurant whose specialty is fish and chips. The welcome is warm and authentic! A real break from the tourist hustle and bustle! I highly recommend!

Pointer: add salt to your fish. I rarely add salt to anything, but this addition makes the meal here. As one comment mentioned, without the salt the piping hot fish was very bland - just oil. The salt made it pop, as did the vinegar. Both are key here. I had the Master Fish. I'd say this place gets a load of tourists, as I looked around you could tell there weren't many locals. To that end, it's a bit more pricy than you might expect. Don't wear something nice here. The burning cooking oil created a fog in the main dining hall. Not a complaint. It just comes with the territory. Overall, it was a great piece of fish, once doctored up. It's pricy, but generally worth it.

I would avoid this place if you can. The fish was flavorless and saturated in grease. I still don't understand how it was so flavorless. On top of that the fry oil tastes burnt and so does the batter on the fish. The cook must be embarrassed to send out that kind of food. The chips were bland and mushy. The tarter sauce tastes like it was mostly just mayonnaise. I don't know how you can screw up such a simple dish. I feel like their fryer is too hot and they need to portion the fish smaller so it cooks without burning the batter. The entire place was smokey and lacking proper ventilation, leaving your clothes and hair smelling like a grease trap when you leave. The wait staff never checked on us almost the entire time we were there and didn't offer water. It's just simply overpriced for what you're getting. Practically feels like punishment. I feel like they need to take some profits and remodel, with bigger cleaner restrooms, train the staff and fix whatever the issue is in the kitchen. At the very least, the fish was cooked.

Had a takeaway meal from here. Food was absolutely fantastic, fish was fresh. Service was great. Staff remembered me from my last visit. Would recommend to anyone. Best fish and chips in London.

Conveniently next to the hotel. It was a bit chilly in the restaurant this February. The food was good and reasonably priced. The big minus was the strong smell of cooking (fat).

Must have gotten them on a bad day when I look at reviews on here! Staff were great, food was very disappointing in my opinion, chips were dry and hard, not enough salt or vinegar for my taste. Fish was OK, nothing amazing. Prices are reasonable.

One thing to be aware of - the place has an open kitchen, my clothes smelled fish and chips for the next couple of days.

A restaurant with a large selection of fish for fish and chips. But they also have a few other dishes. We got a free appetizer and the service was very pleasant. By going a little further from the center, it was half empty. We can really only recommend! We paid £44 for 2 mains and two drinks.

It's not a fancy looking place but honestly, places that have this humble and authentic look will sometimes serve the BEST food. Masters Superfish did not disappoint. Lovely service, quick food, very tasty. I'd definitely return and recommend to whoever is looking for a proper fish and chippy.

I wanted to go where the Locals go for Fish and Chips. My cabdriver suggested Masters Superfish. They did not disappoint. I had the Cod and chips with a side of mushy peas.

Cycled past and fancied it so I tried it out. Not only was it the most expensive fish n chips Ive ever had at £17, but also the worst. Decor is full of typical london postcard stuff like red phone boxes or post boxes. Looks like a tourist might find it authentic but its NOT a good local chippy

So disappointed. The waiter failed to place the order and I had to wait for >45 min. After they found out that the order was not through, no apologies or any services and just started cooking. They even made me wait again for paying. Fish was Ok, but definitely not worth the long wait. Very unpleasant dinner.

I discovered this place when I lived in London a few years ago and have been coming back here every time I visit the city ever since: it's rustic, down-to-earth and usually full of locals. If you're not looking for a 'fancy place', but just a really good fish and chips place, then this is the right place for you.

What an amazing experience for fish 'n chips!!! Honestly, I found a YouTube video in which people highly recommended this little restaurant near tube station Lambeth North just opposite the big NHS building on 191 Waterloo Road. And what should I say? These people were right! The fish was DIVINE - super crispy on the outside, but soft and juicy on the inside. Chips and tartare sauce were very good too! Hey everyone, trust me, this is the best place for fish 'n chips in London! We also appreciated the complimentary shrimps, bread and pickles and liked the beer London‘s Pride. The prices were very reasonable - very good value and quantity for the money. Thumbs up 👍

Wanted to get some fish and chips while in London after giggling about it with my friend about what food I would try while here. Next to the hotel was a closed fish and chips resteraunt that opened in the later afternoon into the evening. Based on outside appearance it seemed like the sort of place that would surprise my taste buds so I gave it a shot. The inside was crowded and the menu surprising large for only really being a place that did one thing and made it known. Not sure of the different fishes I just asked for the waitress to pick the best one and dug in. A big fish flaky and crumbly was great. The chips where normal. Came with big servings of tartar and ketchup in there own dishes. Also two pieces of bread and two raw shrimp to begin. I'm not sure what I expected but I don't think I can say it's the best fish and chips around. Great but more so above average. Being a simple meal in nature perhaps that's what it's to be. The inside didn't have tvs or much in terms of decor or things to look at while Waiting Seems catering to tourists even having a big map inviting customers to pin where they are visiting from. I'm not disappointed in the slightest but I wasn't blown away All in all of your visiting and don't want to go out the area for a bite of fish and chips pay it a visit.

Es un chippy pequeño, pero las porciones eran enormes! Primero nos sirvieron unos encurtidos y camarones fríos y pan que venía con la comida. Teníamos el eglefino y el bacalao y como dije, las piezas eran grandes. El rebozado era ligero y no demasiado grasoso - el pescado era tierno. Las fichas también eran grandes y calientes. ¡Tanta comida! Podríamos haber compartido fácilmente un plato. El personal era muy agradable y amable también. También tuvimos sidra y una cerveza (London Pride) para acompañar la comida. Los precios eran muy razonables también y nos fuimos muy lleno y satisfecho!

This is a local no frills chippie a short walk from Waterloo station right across from the London National ambulance service NHS. When i walked in a rainy Friday evening, the dining room was brightly lit in fluorescent white light and filled with locals, ambulance crew and black cab drivers. It was canteen like and cheerful. We got a corner table and the menu is handwritten in chalk hanging over the payment counter. ‘No more table menus’ after Covid we are told and for good reason. The fish is freshly brought in from the famous Billingsgate wholesale market and comes either grilled or fried in a light batter. I was recommended the Masters special of the day which was a generous portion of Cod on a bed of golden chips. Like establishments from my student days many decades ago, they serve complimentary appetisers of fresh cut baguette, pickles and onion as well as oh so delicious home made tartar sauce and ketchup. The fish was fresh, moist and just greasy enough to tick all the boxes. The beverage menu was extensive and you can wash this down with a pint of lager or a variety of soft drinks and even hot tea! The service was friendly and brisk. And the food is Halal certified! Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to this local chip shop and prices were very reasonable for central london for its quality. Highly recommended if you are ever in the area and need your fill of local British fare at reasonable prices !

Highly recommend the masters special (basically a large fish!). It’s cooked fresh and was beautiful and crispy. The only thing that could have been better was that they were stingy with the chips as I think they were waiting for another batch to be cooked. Overall, would definitely go back.

We were welcomed in and helped to get my wife's wheelchair settled at a table. They had explained, before we entered, that their toilet was not wheelchair accessible. That isn't ideal but essential to know. We both had fish and chips with a mushy peas to share. I had cod while my wife had haddock. Both were delicious, flavoursome fish and crispy batter. These had been preceded by shrimps, pickled onion, gherkin and bread and butter. The mains came with ketchup and tartar sauce. The service was friendly, quick and efficient. We will return but probably book a table to be sure to get in.

The place was recommended as a local place. We went as a family of 2+2. The appetizer includes bread with butter and shrimps. The Fish&Chips main dish is large and tasty. Atmospheric place. The only drawback is the fact that you have to change your clothes after leaving the place because you are saturated with the smell of frying. Overall, I recommend the place :)
