The best restaurants serving Default food in Suffolk Coastal East of England

We drove to Walberswick primarily to go to the deli having visited a few years ago The deli is tiny but full of delicious freshly cooked treats . A tray of Brie red onion and chilli jam quiche was just out of the oven as we waited Being Easter we had hot cross bun home made it was unreal and sat outside is the small court yard to eat with tea We bought red onion sausage roll to take home delicious just wish we had bought more The only challenge is parking near by isn’t easy

We visited this pub twice in one week whilst on holiday in the area and it was fantastic both times - pretty busy too, so it’s clearly a popular pub with both visitors and locals. The staff were really friendly, welcoming, polite and efficient. The menu was varied and interesting with some good specials as well - all fairly traditional pub food with nothing too unusual. The portions were vast, even the light bite options were plenty big enough. Everything we had (starters, mains, light bites & desserts) was delicious, the homemade cottage pie was particularly tasty and came with a generous portion of 4 vegetables (so much healthier than some pub offerings where a spoonful of peas is all you get). For mains the prices were very reasonable, especially the two light bites for £20 deal, but we did think £7.95 for a dessert was a bit high (it might have been acceptable for the homemade desserts, but the same price for a commercial microwaved sponge pudding was too much). The only other thing to mention was that we observed staff petting guests’ dogs on two separate occasions and we very much hope that they washed their hands before serving the next person’s food!!

If your looking for a real sandwich with good fillings then this is the shop for you. Having visited on many occasions I have never been disappointed. The staff are all friendly and more than willing to help you choose from the exhaustive menu. You will never be disappointed. Don’t look anywhere else. Victorian Beach Hut Penelope

Had an INCREDIBLE Afternoon Tea at Cups and Cakes Cafe today. Everything was PERFECTION! The attention to detail and thought that has gone into each of the homemade delicious bakes and sandwiches were out of this world yummy. We had a delicious variety of sandwiches, sausage rolls, cheese scones with cream cheese and chutney, fruit scones with clotted cream and jam, strawberry fruit tarts, galaxy chocolate cupcakes, banoffee pies and of course, copious amounts of tea! Would thoroughly recommend Cups and Cakes for the personalized and friendly service too. I've experienced a lot of Afternoon Teas over the years and this was definitely the best! Lovely place to eat. Myself and my friend popped in for lunch today. We both chose the jacket potato, great menu with plenty of choice and very reasonable priced. Lovely, warm and friendly staff. A real gem 💎. Would highly recommend this and we will be back! Thanks for a lovely lunch 😄.

I'm Scottish on business down here and was staying at the orwell hotel and found this wee cafe by chance.... It's also known as The Basics Community Cafe. Charity run 👍👍 Delicious bacon n sausage sandwich and only £4. But disappointed no baps at 10am in the morning but still a good sandwich 👍

I have been wanting to go here for a couple of months so when it was chosen as a venue for our monthly dinner club, I was delighted to be able to attend. It was just as well that there were fourteen of us because, apart from us there were only a couple of other tables in use and a few takeaways. First impressions are always important and mine were not good. The two waiting staff were chatting away behind the bar and made no attempt to make me feel welcome. Nor did they offer a drink until the rest of the table arrived some fifteen minutes later. We'd been asked to pre-order to aid the kitchen. My choice was a Sigara Borek, filo pastry filled with feta cheese. Disappointingly bland really and, at £6.95, pricey I felt. The main course - Incik - was a lamb shank and, at £19.95, it was tasty enough with the plentiful meat falling off the bone, but it really wasn't very hot. The very small portion of chips were overcooked and also lukewarm. The best bit of the meal was the very nice Turkish bread and Cacik, the Turkish equivalent of Tzatziki. Other folk have raved about the Anatolia, but I'm afraid I left feeling distinctly underwhelmed.

Had the 'noon pie' and smoked salmon and cream cheese open sandwich. Amazingly good. In fact, in your life you will encounter pies you dream about. This is one of them, can't wait to go back! I went back! Pie was just as good as I remember. Also had a lunch box, lovely selection of fish. We enjoyed it so much, we went back to get a smoked mackerel for each of the kids. I don't think it would be possible to get a nicer bit of fish, buttery soft and just the right amount of smokyness, whilst still tasting like fresh fish. Well worth going out of your way for.

Been to this cafe before and have had great service and food, however today went in sat down waited 15 minutes with no staff attending to me they looked across and still no service so walked out.

Extremely rude staff made us wait ages then served an Americano with oat milk without asking which milk we prefer. It curdled in the Americano and looked awful,bas it does when the milk is off, all thick and.lumpy. On complaining the waitress said, " Of course it will it's oat milk." No apology or empathy at all. 0/10 for customer service we can see why it's closing down!!Still theres a perfectly acceptable cafe opposite who have great customer service.
