The best restaurants serving Default food in Thorpe Southend-on-Sea East of England

What a gem! Having driven by this place a number of times, I finally had an opportunity to pop in this Saturday afternoon. A friendly, welcoming place full of happy dogs, happy people and tasty home cooked food.

Went here for a private party and can only say, Foods fantastic, staff are brilliant

We went for a quick brunch. Was shown a table immediately even though we had not prebooked and they were busy. The staff especially Michael was so welcoming. We ordered Spaghetti Aglio e Olio and cheesy garlic bread. The chef made it to our taste- extra garlic and fresh home made pasta. Loved the food. A great local Authentic family run Italian restaurant

Really lovely restaurant, great food and tasty cocktails. Had a strawberry daiquiri which resembled something from London! Chilli cheese toast was unreal! Thanks Adnan again, you’re a great host and probably the hardest worker in Thorpe Bay!

Enjoyed a beer in the sunshine watching the world go by... what's not to like. Staff were attentive, and the service was prompt. No pretentiousness, just an honest family-friendly pub with a keenly priced hotel and restaurant. A solid option 👌

So attended this restaurant as a suprise from my other half. I ordered the rump steak with sweet potato fries, salad, coleslaw, and the broccoli and stilton. The steak was amazing i havent had a steak like this in ages. I love the fact you basically cook it yourself on the lava stone i like my steak still mooing so this was perfect for me. The sides where great and the pudding was okay. I have already recommended and will time and time again. I will be returning for sure. Staff where very welcoming as well. Thumbs up from me

Visited on Sunday, 09th February 2025, for brunch. Third visit (2020 & 2022) and nothing had changed really but though its still a nice place to eat (if you manage to secure a place in the enclosed decking/conservatory area at least) its a little pricey for the portion sizes as you appear to be paying for the location rather than what is on offer. No dogs allowed, which is a shame, and you can't book the decking/conservatory area, so you have to take your chances if it's busy as to whether there is space available. If there isn't, I wouldn't bother staying, as the contrast with the interior seating is quite stark as to your view.

I never received my pork and apple sausage rolls only ended up with my drink and my brownie

Amazing food! Have been coming here for over ten years and even after trying other restaurants none have compared to the food, friendly staff and beautiful accommodating staff! ☺️

Initially thought this pub could do with a good refurb but once the lights dimmed in the evening it looked great LOL. Fish and chips was exceptional, would definitely eat here again

Booked a family meal here for Good Friday lunch. Our carver, Chris, was very friendly, as was Paula, our server. We've been coming to this carvery for 10+ years and can honestly count on one hand, how many bad experiences we've had. I highly recommend Thorpe Bay Toby, as the staff are very welcoming and the atmosphere is lovely. Thank you 😊

Valentines night dinner, had a fantastic evening, food was great as was the service and some nice little touches including a free red rose made the evening special

Terrible food, curry sauce bland and not like a traditional curry sauce. Chips are not like traditional chips from a chippy and the bread rolls are burger buns. So poor.
