Roslin Beach Hotel Restaurant in Southend-on-Sea

Went for lunch, it was a Tuesday and while not full there were still plenty of tables occupied in the restaurant. I had the scallops, chicken and then the chocolate delice. All were very tasty and everything is always so brilliantly and delicately presented. My husband had the crab, salmon special and the deconstructed eton mess which was served in a merengue shell which looked great. We have never had bad service here, Joelle in particular is fantastic, on hearing we got married at the hotel 4 years ago made sure we got a little something special even though it wasn't our actual anniversary.

Come here regularly & have always enjoyed my meal. Staff have always gone pit of their way to be pleasant. Today the waitress was extremely rude. She doesn't deserve a job & I will not come back!

Great late lunch on deck. No need for overseas holidays when Southend offers this!! Now had dinner as well. Great fun. Chablis - spot on. Continues to get better. Beautiful place with amazing views! A lovely evening was had by all. Our drinks waitress Isabelle was very friendly and attentive and a credit to the place. We will be back again soon. Highly recommend it 👍🏻

The best time had at one of our favourite places. The Roslin you never disappoint and made a very special wedding anniversary stay, perfect. The room was decorated so lovely with lots of little added touches. Dinner was superb, the cocktails are lovely and the staff can’t do enough for you. It was lovely to visit 10 years later after having our wedding there and is still as beautiful as it was back then.

From the man who booked our Anniversary overnight stay to the desk receptionist who booked us out this morning we were so impressed with the whole experience. I told them that my husband was quite poorly and they booked us a lovely room with a balcony, did a fabulous arrangement of towels on the bed for our Anniversary , plus chocs. Our dinner was lovely, our breakfast was great. The Granola was the best ever. Would come back just for that 😍 Thank you to all your wonderful staff and for making our Anniversary so very special . We will definitely try to come back soon

I attended a wedding the rooms and ambience was fantastic with sea view. Food served was 5* enjoyed by all on the the day.

We booked the a la carte lunch for our anniversary and ordered the Skate as a main course unfortunately due to the poor quality of the fish we could not eat it and had to send it back were offered an alternative meal and both chose the rib eye steak which again was not the best cuts of meat . We have visited the restaurant on a few occasions and have never had such poor quality food, it appears the suppliers of there Fish and meat are supplying poor quality food which is not reflected in the costs. The manager did give us a reduction on our bill as he did agree the Skate was of poor quality. It’s a shame because it is a lovely hotel and setting.

My friend and I went to the Roslin today for Afternoon tea to celebrate our birthdays. We had an amazing time! Food was beautiful - fresh and tasty and very pretty. We had real cream with our scones (a real teller for me on how carefully the tea has been prepared) and my nut allergy was no problem at all. I have to mention our waitress Michaela; what a gem of a member of staff! Nothing was too much trouble and she was careful to explain all the elements and even suggested some different teas to go with our dishes. We tried the crème brewleé (love the name!) and then the apple and blueberry. Both were lovely. Later, when we mentioned it was a birthday celebration she returned with an extra brownie each with Happy birthday written in chocolate! She was so very attentive and added so much to our experience. Beautiful decor too in the Bastian section of the restaurant. I really can’t fault it!

Afternoon tea - lovely sandwiches. Lovely and fresh and tasty! Scones nice and cakes were delicious. Very prompt service. Friendly staff. Good value for money the atmosphere was just right and the eating area is decorated beautifully. Toilets were stunning and clean. Would definitely return. One of the best afternoon tea I have had! Thank you to all the staff.

On a beautiful sunny summer evening, you will do well to beat this place. Directly opposite the stunning Thames Estuary, it’s a splendid place to be. It has a good menu, and I recommend the new pizza menu from the bar. It’s a little on the expensive side but it’s what you expect from a venue in a prime location like this. I will be returning as I do love it here.

We sat in the garden. When we arrived the restaurant had three tables being used and plenty of empty tables. We were shown to a table by an entrance and service station, so asked to sit at a nicer table which we were shown to. The menu is small but we knew this before we booked. We shared the burrata with heritage tomatoes, both fabulous. My partner had the prawn sandwich which was tasty, I had the in house smoked salmon Caesar salad. Too much dressing for me, which overpowered the delicate taste of the salmon. We shared warm sourdough bread and fabulously creamy butter. We had a few cocktails each, delicious and well made. Pricey, at £14 each, we’ve had other delicious cocktails locally at a better price, in just as lovely surroundings. As the restaurant filled up the service became slower and not quite as attentive.

My wife & I had dinner here tonight (14th Aug). The food was amazing & all staff were very friendly, helpful & efficient. Would highly recommend.

My sweet sister in love took me and my adult niece to afternoon tea at the Roslin Beach Hotel one rainy afternoon in May. What an absolute treat! While we couldn't see much out of the windows due to weather, the ambience inside was delightful. The food arrived on 3 tiered stands, the tea was impeccable, served by a waiter in white gloves. It was much heartier than I expected. Salmon sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches (crustless finger sandwiches), ham sandwiches, scones, petit fours, cheesecake, chocolate cake. Washed down with pots of tea. I highly recommend this place for afternoon tea, be it a special occasion or just a rainy mid week afternoon (which also happened to be my birthday week!). Enjoy!

On St. Patrick's day went to the Restaurant for a Sunday lunch. It was delicious. Used a gift voucher which seems to have confused the cashier. Very quickly sorted by the Maitre d'. Well worth a visit.

Went for lunch Easter Sunday with the family the hotel was decorated for Easter beautifully. Even though the restaurant was really busy the staff were efficient attentive and friendly every child was given a large Easter egg and visited by the Easter bunny the food was delicious and the whole experience felt very special well done!

I took my 2 best friends here for afternoon tea on Sunday 3rd March. It was a birthday present for them. Without my asking the waitress brought out two cakes for both my friends with happy birthday written beautifully on the plates. The food, cocktails and service were impeccable. The waitress in particular (sadly I did not catch her name) was so attentive but to just the right amount. Very highly recommend having afternoon tea here.

We had a late lunch here with friends who have previously stayed. Lunch was unrushed, relaxed and very tasty.

First time to go there for a drink.... and as it was Sunday it was very busy could only find a seats at the bar you straight away notice they have good selection of alcohol drinks......we only a glass of wine and a coffee.... although was the house wine and normal coffee the bill was just over £14 .... which we found it rather expensive....looked at the food menu but couldn't find anything exciting 🤔..., paid the bill and went to ocean beach

Perfect afternoon tea which we attended in celebration of my daughter turning 1 year old. Not only were the cakes and sandwiches beautifully made and champagne perfectly sparking the customer service from the brothers Shorif and Shihab was exceptional. They brought out some fruit for my little girl and a little cake - was touched by their kindness and to be fair they were very attentive towards us too. I’d recommend and will return in the future. We were given a voucher as a gift for afternoon tea. Had to change the date a couple of times due to unforeseen issues and the staff were very helpful. The venue looked really nice and we received a warm welcome. My wife is pescatarian and they accommodated her very well giving her a choice of sandwiches. Throughout, the staff were friendly and attentive. Fresh tea repeatedly served up and we were offered more sandwiches. Two types of scone with plenty of jam and cream. Then the cakes, 4 each and all lovely. Too much for us to finish so they kindly boxed what we had left to take away. We had a tea previously at a nearby hotel and were quite underwhelmed but this venue was far superior. A nice setting, good food and great staff, would certainly recommend.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch here with friends recently, food was delicious although if I’m being picky could have been a little warmer but it didn’t really affect us. We had lovely cocktails and our waitress Joelle was wonderful - we will definitely be back!

Wife had a treatment and afternoon tea voucher which was close to expiring so booked half term owing to her occupation.Very distressing when early the day we were visiting she came down with Covid. Contacted hotel at 06.00 to give them bad news and they reported back at 0900 was worried we would loose voucher but they honoured the booking and we went when she had recovered with no fuss. Wife thoroughly enjoyed her spa treatments and we both had afternoon tea which was excellent in all aspects no doubt we will return in the future

We went to the Roslin for a celebration and our waitress Joelle was amazing. She was lovely, really helpful and attentive and made it such an enjoyable experience. Everything was delicious and the manager went above and beyond to make it a special meal for us. Would definitely visit again for a lovely night out in a beautiful setting.

Was asked to join two friends , who has received a voucher to spend at The Roslin. A cream tea was decided upon and my wife and I turned up on Thursday afternoon at 3.15 salivating for what we hoped would be a wonderful afternoon with delicious food and a nice few cups of tea. Oh how we were wrong. The brown bread sandwiched were dry and the filling sparce to say the least. The scones were dry, crusty and tasteless and the cakes on the top level looked as though they had been purchased from the pound shop. None of it was inspiring. The tea was weak and warm. The cost £69 for two ( I refused to pay the discretionary tip, which had to be removed from my bill) as I did not think the service warranted a tip. I and my friends will not be visiting The Roslin again. Oh and one final point the parking was a nightmare, our friends ended up parking half a mile away.

Perfect birthday celebration for my nans 90th. We arrived early but was shown straight to our table. The afternoon tea was beautiful and looked stunning. We were offered more sandwiches and as much jam and cream as we wanted. The tea choices were really nice. Staff were so helpful and a big thank you to Shariff who looked after us all and made my nan feel special.

What a dinner. Celebration for a family birthday last Friday and a fabulous experience from start to finish. Attentive service, excellent food and the staff went above and beyond to make our experience super special with a little cake and candles too. Gorgeous setting and autumnal decorations and just the right ambience for us to all be able to hear each other speaking but still a lovely background atmosphere. Fab, fab, fab can’t wait to return!

I'm often in the Southend-on-Sea area to see family and struggle to find high-quality restaurant to lunch in. I eat out regularly in London and am super-familiar with the hospitality scene there. So I think I know what good looks like and Roslin is great. For me, the Roslin is the only option if I'm looking for attention to detail and imagination in the cooking. I would actually say the cuisine is exceptional – I've never had a bad meal there and often find myself shaking my head in awe with what they serve up. My congratulations to the chef and kitchen team.

We came for dinner on a rainy night. We were shown to our table but no one took out wet coats . As we looked across the restaurant people’s coats were on the floor/ Service was rushed with our mains arriving two minutes after our starters My friends lamb was cold and my fish pie. £25 was a piece of fish with some piped potato on top. Over priced and a bit pretentious. Failed to deliver. I’ve been to many Michelin star restaurants and this was nowhere near this standard

Very disappointed. We arrived on a very wet evening. No offer to take our coats and umbrellas. Food when it arrived was cold. My friend had fish pie and that was just a lump of fish with some small pieces of potato on top - didnt look like a pie!! We also felt rushed. We wont be returning.
