Firstly, the show was AMAZING! Cannot fault it. The theatre itself, however..... Cakes are really nice and beverages too, but expensive. Seating is limited. The building itself is undergoing works which is absolutely necessary. The theatre itself is very dated, and the chairs are not very comfortable as a wider person. There's so many stairs and only one lift. It is very hard to access the bathroom and cloakroom as someone with a disability. We were incredibly disappointed the restaurant was closed. It was a full show, and there was nothing to indicate it would be closed. We had travelled early to get a table as me and my friend and I have intolerances so we always pre-choose our meals. There was nothing on the website to indicate it would be closed, no signs either. This meant we had to search around for food. Staff were lovely in offering sandwiches and drinks. This was after not being able to find a disabled parking space. The website says there is parking, but there is about a dozen spaces with blue badge not clearly signposted. We had to go searching again. As visitors, it was difficult and glad we left extra time. The show was amazing, so at least that didn't disappoint, unlike the rest of the experience.

Pantomime Great. Hate that everything is card payment , even a coffee . Restaurant has been moved and looks better , unfortunately the Christmas menu and food is awful. Overcooked, flavourless vegetables, meat tough and deserts are similar to Aunt Bessie’s 😳 I’d rather pay a bit more and enjoy my food especially when I work so hard for my money . Restaurant is very disappointing

A great place for a concert. The pantomime for 2024/5 with Rylan was excellent. 'Simon' was also terrific! The only downsides are at the moment is that the place is undergoing renovation and it's difficult to know where to go. The prices are also very expensive for food and drink.

The Cliffs is a great theater we have seen many productions here and enjoyed them all , the latest being the big Panto with Rylan who was magnificent as always . We also tried the pre show dinner which was a pleasant experience, Daisy our waitress was brilliant too. Portions were generous to say the least , but I was disappointed when the wings were subbed for chunks of chicken breast "boneless wings " but they were only just cooked and no sauce only a dipping mayo. It was nice but not the wings I had expected. But overall, staff were very pleasant and attentive , and not having to dash back from one of the local restaurants was a big bonus . Giving 4 out of 5 as there is always room for improvement but definitely going again as its so easy to get to and parking too , so much better than going to London and all the risks that brings these days.Highly recommended.

Worst panto I have seen. Rylan was not a strong enough or loud enough character. Simple Simon was good, but felt sorry for the stand in Jack - out of his depth completely. The script depended heavily on pop music - so disappointing. Feel it was far from enough to justify ticket price (£52) and I had bought 6 for all the family. Such a shame Cliffs Pavillion.

DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WE DID AND PURCHASE TICKETS UNDER FALSE PRETENCES !! - full details of our experience can no longer be disclosed due to the ongoing investigation but if anyone else has had a similar experience please do not hesitate to report them. Solicitors’, Citizens Advice & Trading Standards… they are the first steps for anyone in a similar situation. But also just to add a bit of context to my poor review rating: - Very poor advertisement with lack of information for the show from both the venue and productions. - The majority of staff were unprofessional and rude (The security guard we spoke to that evening, was actually very professional, understanding and sympathetic) The Manager, Oliver who I contacted, did not listen to our side of the story explaining the situation and simply dismissed us and relayed incorrect facts to myself about the situation. - Extortionate prices for refreshments. Slow service. Card payments only. - Not enough toilet facilities especially for the women where according to Oliver there was an attendance of 1300 audience members on that evening. - Poor security measures. No bags were searched which is pretty concerning. Being that it is Southend you would think these measurements would be in place to ensure our safety.

The theatre is undergoing a major refurbishment, so the foyer appeared crowded and small. However, the seats in stalls are no longer fit for the purpose they need to have more padding and also need to be a little wider to suit the current body shape. I personally do not have that issue, but I could see a number of guests struggling to fit into the chairs without elbowing their neighbours.
