Just a fantastic pub! I had my 50th birthday there for the Abba tribute, and the singers were incredible, the pub staff and management so friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere so good. If you want a fun night out, with great bands, it’s fantastic. Thank you Oakwood!!

My wife I and 2 children (aged 8+11) visited the Oakwood for dinner and had a amazing time, nice warm atmosphere, friendly staff (Bridie served us) good food and very reasonable prices. Will definatly return for the Easter party with live entertainment (17th April).

Lovely food as usual, great menu plenty of choice and such friendly helpful staff we had Kerry serving us today and making sure we had everything we needed excellent service.

Nice pub full of locals. Deceptively bigger than you think, so plenty of seating. Popped here for a meeting with suppliers and a few drinks. Was welcomed by a very friendly member of staff and a warm smile in Rhiannon. It's always nice to see people enjoying their work and looking after customers. Would definitely return when we are back in the area!

Food and drink reasonably priced and very tasty. If you’re lucky you’ll get Kerry as your waiter. She’s friendly, enthusiastic and so lovely to chat to. All the customers around as at various tables seemed to know her and she is genuinely amazing at her job.

Had a great lunch yesterday. Staff were great too. Will be back. It’s not the nearest pub but don’t mind the walk. Guinness was great.

Brother in law booked a table for us for a cream tea for about 12 of us. Was somewhere to eat and drink after we laid the ashes of his wife, my sister in law. So personally was hoping for something better. As you walk in the place feels cold and damp and smells like an old pub. Which of course it is. A new carpet or the carpet being cleaned now and again would help. We were lead to our reserved table with plenty of room, and in face I've been to a party here before and that was great. But the lunchtime cream tea was a let down. The lady apologised for no stands for the sandwiches, which tbh you could buy off amazon for a few pounds! So we were presented with a couple of sandwiches each, on a plate each, which were made up of precisely 2 slices of bread with crusts cut off. They were followed with a couple of cakes, scones and cream. A few of us mentioned that the food and cakes never matched the menu. And to call it a cream tea quite frankly was a joke. My sister in law loved a cream tea but would not, like us, of been impressed. The included coffee and tea was plentiful though. The beer selection is very good and well priced if your there for that. And the larger room is ideal for private functions. Unfortunately on this occasion Oakwwod fell short. Cmon Oakwood, get your act together! A cream tea is not just a cake and sandwiches, it's about the decor too!

Visited a few times during the week in the evening for a catch-up meal and always leave impressed. Nice quiet atmosphere (when there's no sports on) polite service, great food and short wait times! Not to mention the price to portion ratio! Lots of parking at the pub but if busy plenty of space on the road. Will definitely be a regular visitor during the week.

Excellent meal with my partner and family. Waitress remembered all food (including 2 fussy orders!) and food was served perfectly.

The lady who served us was extremly nice and even chit chat with my little one. Loved the vegetarian Sunday roast, that mushroom and nut Wellington was the tastiest I tried so far and tried quite a few. Glad my little one got hungry on our way home and we popped in 😊

Staff were very helpful as we had a wheelchair all ten of us had a great time. Food was good value and tasty, good value for food and will visit again.

Nice evening meal. Some free parking is available on site. The restaurant area was clean even though it was busy. Used plates ect were cleared promptly. Food served was hot, tasty and enjoyable. Good selection of both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. staff were friendly helpful, polite and welcoming.

I had a lovely all-day vegetarian breakfast with everything being cooked so deliciously! The vegan sausages were especially good. The chef knows what she/he is doing! The staff was lively and lovely, chatty if you wanted to be or respectful if you wanted to read/write (like i was). I sat in the round window by the sun, food arrived quickly and the girls were attentive if anything needed replenishing etc. Lovely pub.

Went for a meal with Friends on Saturday evening. Service from Kerry was amazing, as was the food. We all had a lovely time.

First visit in several years. Came with a large group for Christmas meal and wasn't disappointed. Great service and tasty good

Very friendly atmosphere and lovely staff

Was invited to a friend's birthday celebration here. She'd reserved a few tables on a Saturday night and there was a music tribute act on - no tickets needed, so there was no charge for the entertainment. Relight Robbie was fab, pub staff were friendly and atmosphere was good. Drinks were average pub prices. The pub is a great size and there is plenty of room.

Very friendly welcome from Kelly, she was very polite and professional. Tasty and well cooked by Neil and Bridie - katsu chicken. Thanks for a lovely lunch!

We had a lovely meal at the Oakwood. We are regulars and they never fail to please. The food is lovely and our waitress Kerry was very hospitable - as always.

We have had such a lovely meal out at The Oakwood this evening, compliments to the chef. Our lovely waiting staff 'Kerry' was so lovely and friendly, Kerry really went above and beyond in ensuring we all had such a lovely evening especially when it all came to ordering our food and drinks and making sure everything was all to our satisfaction. Thank you and we will look forward to be returning for our next evening out.

Amazing welcome been shown to our table great spot especially for football . Roast dinner was amazing my little one had 6 Yorkshire puddings because he loved them so much and they were so much better than mine! Thank you Sally John and Neil! We had a Lovely day ☺️ ps. Great food and staff the best local by far

If you’re looking for cheap but good honest food this is the place to be. Popped in for an early lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the various food options available, all at a very reasonable price. What makes the place even better are the staff. Our server, Kerry, was very welcoming and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble for her. Definitely a credit to the place. Will return.

My friend had her 21st party here and it was great! They created a lovely party buffet and our bartender Kerry was so lovely and lively!

We watched the England matches here and the atmosphere and service were first class.

Went here for my niece's birthday they were short staffed and rushed as england are playing tonight the food seemed rushed and the garlic bread on the plates was cremated and hard I broke a tooth. we had the classic platter steak and chips and chicken and bacon burger portions were very small overall would not be back

First time I ever had a drink in this pub was Xmas 1983, I was 17, (PMS aka P&M's xmas drink) got very drunk, and dropped my pint, landlord was not happy, we were all told to leave eventually. I probably haven't been in here since about 1988, I'd forgotten how big the place was, the staff/food/entertainment, have improved immensely, my drinking habits haven't unfortunately, got very drunk once again, but didn't drop my pint this time. Will be back again, if I'm allowed in.

We had a very nice roast dinner. It was a decent sized portion, plenty of roast potatoes and some veg. A pleasantly environment in the dining area

We come in here quite often and I can say it is outstanding! The staff are great, very hard working & helpful. We’ve had breakfast/Lunch/Dinner/Roast and it is all delicious not like most pub food it is much more than that! The food is top notch annd great quality and we will continue to keep visiting! 😊

I only stopped off for a pint and a portion of chips. The staff were nice and friendly, food and drink were fine and a fair price.

Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. I took a home made Birthday cake for my Sons & they put candles on it and brought it out, singing Happy Birthday. How lovely, is that ? Food was good and plentiful. Thank you Oakwood, excellent service.

Great service! Managed to get a table in the restaurant area even though we didn’t book.. We know Sunday afternoons can be busy. Kerry saw to us and was very attentive. Great service. She was very happy and friendly as always. I had beef roast, my wife had turkey. Both were lovely. Food came out quick and hot. Best Sunday roast I’ve had for a while. Will look forward to next Sunday.

Had breakfast here Saturday morning. Was very busy but the service and food was very quick. The waitress Kerry made sure we had everything we needed too. She greeted us with a warm welcome and a smile. Breakfast was cooked perfectly. 1st time having breakfast here. Will definitely be back.

Had a family meal of 8 persons last night (Friday) food was excellent served was outstanding by Kerry, she works very hard to make sure your happy with your food and if you need a refill, I would highly recommend anyone going there, and me and my partner will definitely be back. Went for a family meal party of 8 , the food was excellent and the service by Kerry was outstanding, she made sure we got the combination of food we wanted even if we changed it a bit from what was on the menu and made sure we had drinks when needed, Kerry works hard. Good beer, good food and exceptionally friendly staff, Mia (I think) is a credit to your staff, made us feel like we were dinning at a restaurant in Kensington, but for a fraction of the price! Highly recommend 🍺🍔

Where I chose to have my birthday dinner. Teenagers felt at home. The food was filling and good quality. The staff were attentive. Excellent experience.

I was there for a private function ( a wake) so it was a bit of a different situation from visiting a pub for a drink & food.The buffet that was there looked good.

Warm and inviting. Friendly staff. Good atmosphere. Good for watching football. Completely spoilt by food order. Ordered small plate of scampi. Thought it would come with chips/ fries but smaller portion. But oh no, 6 pieces of scampi, no fries= £6.99. Extortionate in my opinion.

We went there for a family breakfast. Excellent value, excellent food and really lovely staff.

Had a lovely meal here last night. It’s your typical pub food, good price. Food was hot and fresh. A few drinks and a couple of games if pool.

Avoid this place like the plague. Food not cooked properly and chip portion size fir £3 not worth it looked like one potatoe used. Doesn't even deserve 1 star

The staff and service were really great BUT unfortunately the food was not. The coated prawn starter was sad to say the least, the prawn substance was no more than 5 mm long. THE FISH & CHIPS WAS BAD. YOU NO LONGER HAVE COD. Instead it was flat, all skin & batter ONE STAFF CALLED IT HADDOCK, ANOTHER CALLER IT POLLOCK WHICH I BELIEVE BUT IN ANY CASE IT WAS DISGUSTING. I do not send food back to the kitchen for obvious unspeakable things that kitchen staff have been known to do to it. I do not know if other food on the menu have also been degraded, but I may never find out. A snippet for TRIPADVISOR I am sure. MR DEREK GUDE

Really friendly, helpful bar staff. Although mid week was made to feel welcome. Food was average for pub food was OK.

I can't absolutely fault the place. Friendly service good quality drinks and we ordered few meals and all steaks were cooked to perfection 👌 👍 5 out of5 for me

My brother and I came and enjoyed a Christmassy meal. Maybe I was mistaken thinking turkey was listed on the website. The waitresses were friendly and very obliging. Lovely burger chips. Atmosphere in the dining area was pleasant

Fantastic place to go. Kerry our waitress made the whole evening brilliant, anything we needed she provided and nothing was too much. I was so pleased that I chose the Oakwood to show my brother, who lives in Japan, how wonderful this pub is.

Had a lovely meal with friends at The Oakwood tonight.The service was good as was the food and there is a decent choice on the menu. An added bonus for us came from a young chef called Mitchell. At the end of the evening our bus didn't turn up to take us back into Southend so this lovely young man let us share his taxi and refused to let us contribute to the fare.

Food was great as usual. I had the katsu triple burger with waffle fries and didn’t touch the sides. Kerry was a great waitress and made us feel welcomed.

My family have been coming to the Oakwood before I was born and I’m now 27! It’s a home away from home. We’ve eaten and drank here regularly since I was little and I can’t ever fault it. It’s always just right, the atmosphere, the food, the people. Today wasn’t any different, we had a lovely Sunday dinner for 14 of us , we was so grateful that Sally and the team managed to fit us in last minute too. Food was lovely, deserts went down a treat with the kids, the price is great and they were so accommodating for my dad, who’s just come out of hospital and had to watch what he was eating. Thankyou Kerry for ensuring we had the best time too. Lots of love to Sally and the team, love the Collins Family (& extended family haha) x x x

Had lunch on Sunday with our friends from Kent. Amazing portions and all fresh vegetables and all meats delish. Staff excellent so friendly, will definitely be returning soon. Such a lovely family atmosphere, but need to book.

I booked a table for 4 to watch England play the finals. They hadn’t reserved one for us.said I hadn’t booked. Although I had record of the call and a witness. They just didn’t put us down and made me look like a liar. So we had to go home. Was going to eat there and everywhere was too busy to get food. Ruined our weekend.
