Visited for first time yesterday & found all the staff friendly & helpful. We had the skate &it was delicious. The portion size of the chips & salad was more than sufficient. Will visit again when in the area.

This evening I turned up at 20:15 to order a take away pizza but was told they were no longer serving food. 20:15!! On a Saturday night!! Please don’t publish on Google you are open until 21:30 if you stop serving take away food at 20:15. Very disappointing.

The food is consistently great at this place, the atmosphere is just right and the service is spot on. The deserts though are the best I've ever tasted, the Biscoff cheesecake is unreal. Topped of a nice evening for my wife and I.

We first visited this restaurant the first day we moved into Thorpe Bay , it was around 8pm and every other restaurant could not accommodate us as they were full but despite this restaurant being full they managed to make up a table for us both and welcomed us in. Since then we’ve been back a few times and are always welcomed warmly and with friendly banter The pizza and pasta dishes we have had are delicious & the owner always tailors it to exactly how we like our pasta or pizza . I can see so many regulars visit and they always praise the chef , my neighbours visit and are very happy with the food . This is a family business and they work so hard to ensure the dishes are cooked to perfection . The home made tiramisu is delicious and I find the menu reasonably priced We absolutely love this little gem of a itallian and the staff are lovely .

Will never go back to this restaurant, staff are dreadful, was offered a dessert menu while waiting for our very delayed mains, and after finally getting them and being half way through eating watched the main chef numerous time pick up handfuls of pasta with his bare hands (no gloves) and throw it into the pain to cook while in between itching his hair a few times 🤮 this also wasn’t where it ended the list goes on. I wish from the start when we wasn’t happy we had walked out.

Was very disappointed with our visit. The staff were quite rude and not helpful at all. We ordered garlic bread to start had to ask for side plates which arrived 5 minutes after we received the garlic bread. We then had to wait 25 minutes for our mains. Parmesan was not offended so we asked the young waitress who put it on two of our meals then walked off. The staff need to be trained to be more attentive and polite. All in all was very disappointed.

I come here regularly. The coffee is better than anything in London.

Sadly today I encountered the owner who was rude, aggressive and very confrontational. As a family we will not be returning, we like to support local businesses as locals but I cannot justify his behaviour or attitude. I will be taking my money and custom elsewhere.

I have been to Eatalia many times and can only say great things about it. Food is fantastic - always! The family who own it are professional and friendly. In fact all of the staff are lovely. We feel so lucky to have such a little gem nearby. Thanks EVERYONE At Eatalia.

We had a very delicious pizza here. Many other dishes can be eaten, and the range and offer is also wide.

We dined here tonight and were served by a waitress whose name was Danielle. We had a very pleasant experience but noticed the boss/chef shouting at her and other employees. Because it is a small restaurant, it was within earshot of many customers and made us feel uncomfortable. We hope in the future the boss thinks twice before shouting like this in front of customers again

A great place for lunch on the Broadway! A lovely terrace to enjoy a drink or a meal outdoors. Very good food done quickly. Great Pizzas made by an Italian Pizzaiolo (Renato). The pasta is all served with generous portions and proper home made Italian sauces. Great selections of desserts!

The food at Eatalia is usually very good. However, on a recent visit I ordered from the specials board. Cod fillet with asparagus. What I got was fish and chips. When I queried it the waitress plonked down a plate with three bits of broccoli and said we’ve got no asparagus! I was speechless 🤷🏻‍♀️ I am not a lover of fish and chips at the best of times and especially not at £18.95! Luckily my lovely husband swapped his pasta with me and it was delicious. Lesson learnt, check what you are actually going to get from the specials board. I never dreamt that cod fillet and asparagus was going to be fish and chips! For this reason my rating has been reduced. It would normally be 5 stars.

First visit 19/04 absolutely loved it, met the Boss man, very passionate about the establishment, spoke to chef as you can see him cook, adorable and extremely good, All staff so helpful, food is magical, good selection and various choices, good wine list. Only my opinion, but give it a go, you won't be disappointed. Well done All of you Jeff

Nice enough staff member to speak to, however no care for hygiene what so ever. She was changing the bins as I walked into the shop, took my order and then without washing her hands or even sanitising them made me a coffee. I wouldn’t do that at home without giving my hands a quick wash before preparing something coffee or food. It’s the basics in the catering and hospitality business, have a word bosses?

Our first visit in almost two years. When we lived in Thorpe Bay Eatalia was a regular dining experience for us - eat in or takeaway, both were equally as good. We made an impromptu whistle stop visit after having visited family in Rayleigh. No booking had been made but Pam and her team happily accommodated us as walk-ins. Food and coffee were of the same good quality as I remember. I was pleased to see there had been no drop in standards, nor a massive price hike in spite of the steady increase in the cost of living. It was lovely to be back in my home town again, miss you all

I come here regularly as a 1st choice for dinner or coffee when I’m passing. Eatalia’s is family run and the owner George does all the cooking and has high standards. This means the food is always consistently good. You can tell they don’t skimp and use quality ingredients. We’ve also had takeout which is equally good. They must look after their staff too as they don’t have a high turnover and it’s nice that you’re welcomed with friendly familiarity. Thoroughly recommend!

Have eaten here several times with friends family and business colleagues. The trattoria has friendly staff and has good vibes . Food is excellent , everything cooked to good standard . Best Italian for miles Well done .

I tried to eat here today. The rudeness of the lady at the counter made myself and my guests leave super quick. We were very happy to go elsewhere, absolutely shocking service.

Visited with my lady as an off the cuff lunchtime treat. The previous evening she mentioned not having food to bring to work, she works nearby and we had discussed this place previously. We explained our need for a brisk lunch to the waiter and chose a margaretia pizza & cheesy garlic bread. A pizza oven is nestled behind the counter of various pastries & hot drinks as you enter. The food was enjoyable and made for a decent lunchtime visit. The dining area is toward the rear with numerous 2 & 4 seat tables with a frosted skylight to naturally add light to the space.

Food was exceptional and had lovely flavours, very reasonable as well. However, we had to wait about 20 minutes for the waitress to clear our table after we finished, and another 30 minutes to let us pay the bill. Instead we had to go over to the till at the front and pay with someone else. Tables are way too close to each other as well, not much space to manoeuvre or feel comfortable with someone not invading your privacy.

Myself and my wife visited for lunch today. Have to say my Neapolita Pizza was probably the best i've had in years. Mrs T wanted pasta and the owner suggested a cream linguini with spinach and mushroom which was amazing. Staff are knowlegeable and friendly.Lovely to find such a place. Can't wait for my next visit

Great place, lovely helpful staff. I pop in her at least once a week and sit outside with a dog so as not to inconvenience anyone inside. Always fab coffee, the best around and food tasty. Very reasonably priced too. A visit I always look forward to.

This is our favorite Italian in Southend. My fillet steak was tremendous tonight which has prompted me to write this review. Highly recommended. Everything on the menu is absolute quality. Great ambience. The staff are so lovely and welcoming? Booking recommended though as it gets busy!

Decent food - questionable service

A fairly regular destination for my wife and I, we are never disappointed whether it be for coffee, a relaxing glass of wine or dinner! We went in this week for drinks and dinner, were greeted with what is a standard Eatallia welcome … friendly and attentive. Having seen a couple of negative reviews recently, my advice… ignore them and don’t believe everything you read! We asked for a ‘custom’ pizza and one regular vegetarian pizza… I have to say both were fantastic and my ‘custom’ version was excellent. Thanks to Pam, Georgio, Michele, Renato and all the staff for a great evening.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had! I ordered a frutti di mare pasta and the clams were not fresh, they had a bad taste and I did not eat them, when I tell the manager and she tells the cook, she started yelling that this was not bad and that the food was good. I order all employees not to talk to me. the attitude of the cook was horrible! a total disappointment will not go again

it is not a clean place. Look how the supposed chef washes his hands in a pot and then cooks! something disgusting. I ordered a pasta with clams and they weren't fresh, when I told the chef he started yelling at me and saying that that was fine! and he ordered the rest of the waiters not to speak to me. very aggressive, offensive and it was not a pleasant experience! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT

RACIST ESTABLISHMENT. We had paid for our coffee and food. They would not let black people sit at the tables even when they were empty, they made us sit at the bar instead. The manager had accused me of not paying because of the COLOUR OF MY SKIN. She then began harassing me, screaming and charging at me. She would not let me leave.

Owner accused us of not paying for our food because of the colour of our skin. When I was dissatisfied with the food and asked a question about it, I was accused of being aggressive. The owner kept stepping forward growing increasingly hostile when we just wanted to leave.

My husband and I had a delicious lunch there today. I had the tiger prawn risotto and was one of the best risottos I've had. Very good portion and contained lots of delicious prawns. My husband had the salmon and zucchini tagliatelle and enjoyed his as much as I did. The Sauvignon blanc was reasonably priced and lovely and chilled. I also love their sausage rolls for a quick bite to eat with a cappuccino too. Service is always friendly and efficient. Prices very reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful food traditional cooking done very simply.

The staff do need to be a bit nicer, bit of a blunt service... BUT! The pizza and coffee are top notch though! Can't wait to try the pasta! Would be GREAT if this place was on a delivery service!!!!

I went with my granddaughter. The food was ok nothing special. The portions were big, perhaps a children’s menu would of been good. Never got offered Parmesan cheese on our food. The garlic bread was too garlicky almost bitter. It was fully booked and so noisy we couldn’t hear each other talk. Probably won’t go back, there are some much better restaurants around.

We went once for food and it really wasn’t great, so I wouldn’t go to eat there. However, their coffee was nice so I used to go almost daily for a coffee each time I walked past on my way to the station. Sadly the rate that this place is increasing it’s prices ridiculous. I’ve seen a regular coffee go from £1.80 to £2.40 in just a couple of years. I appreciate we have high inflation but a 75% increase is a rip off. Coffee is actually cheaper in London. So I now wait until I’m off the train at the other end.

The old gentleman is not welcoming and doesn't know how to treat customers. I gave two stars because the squid was very tasty and one of the waiters was nice, when we rich him, however it was not easy to reach someone even though the restaurant was empty. The pizza was not tasty as they do not have a charcoal oven and it had plenty rocket even though this is not specified in the menu. This is not how Italian food tastes like therefore I do not recommend it.

Myself and my family are regular visitors whether it be for their coffee, take away food for the beach or indoor dining for lunch / dinner. Visits are always accompanied by a friendly chat with any member of staff and/or Pam the owner. This place is consistently good and has been since it opened. I can’t find pasta or pizza locally that comes close to it. We’ve never had a bad dish - the quality doesn’t suffer when you get a take away either. It also seems that it’s one of the only places locally that hasn’t cashed in on unnecessary price hikes or portion shrinkage. I have written a review before but wanted to write an update but nothing has changed - still good

We came to this restaurant by impulse and my wife, and I was very happy with this decision. To be honest - it was the best Italian food in Southend so far! We explored many local restaurants, but here - comparing price and quality - was the most pleasant discovery!
