The best restaurants serving Default food in Hertsmere East of England

I used to order from Relish every single Friday for pretty much 2-3 Years running. Me and my family also used to dine there on occasion to eat their delicious ribs and awesome burgers. Unfortunately, they completely and utterly butchered their Ribs recipe by swapping out the beautiful tender pork for beef. These beef ribs now go down as the worst rack of "ribs" I've ever had the displeasure of tasting - fatty, chewy and downright disgraceful. As you can see from the other reviews here, their ingredients and quality have plummeted dramatically, which has ultimately led to the closure of Relish. Driving by, you used to see less and less people sat down inside over time, and eventually you saw absolutely no one inside. It's extremely disappointing to have watched this happen, as this used to be my top restaurant!

The starters were underwhelming — the garlic tomato bread lacked flavour, and the fried Brie was overcooked and dry. The main issue, however, was the carbonara my partner ordered. It arrived congealed, overcooked, and was frankly inedible. He’s never returned a dish in a restaurant before, so this says a lot. When he politely raised it with the server (who we believe may have been the manager), the response was quite dismissive. She offered no apology, gave a disapproving look, and said it was likely due to the “authentic” use of egg. My partner explained he’s had plenty of authentic carbonaras before and this wasn’t the issue. Rather than engaging further, she took the plate without a word. When he said kindly that he didn’t want a replacement, she replied curtly, “Don’t worry, I wasn’t going to get you one anyway.” While the item was removed from the bill, no alternative was offered, nor was there any gesture of goodwill — and overall, the service felt unwelcoming and unaccommodating. Had a delicious meal this evening in Isot with my mum and sister. It’s an unassuming restaurant from the outside but the inside is nice, food is delicious and portions are a very good size. They make their own baklava and it’s so good that even my sister liked it and she never likes baklava! It’s on the quiet side so lacking atmosphere which is a shame but the owner, Mertz, and his son were both so nice and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Will definitely be going back.

Amazing hospitality and food! We found this place randomly! Enjoyed our freshly cooked lunch sitting outside in the beer garden. We will definitely be back!

Wr have been a few times now, and we went again last night. The service is very good and the food is good quality, tasty and fresh. The 1st time we went , there was a long wait for the food, however the food was worth waiting a little longer for. So delicious. Thanks again for another pleasant evening.

Finally someone who knows how to use a coffee machine without having to go to Into London or Italy. Service is excellent and the food is delicious all made fresh to order. Lucky to have this place nearby.

After buying a selection of individual cakes for our daughter's birthday in April, we couldn't resist doing the same for our som's birthday today! Looked at the larger cakes in thr window but as soon as I stepped in, the variety of single slices got me.. again! I intended to buy the same ones but there were too many lovely choices to do that! All look amazing and I'm sure they will be just as delicious as the previous purchase. A lovely shop with friendly and helpful staff. Thank you.

Came here for a family birthday. Restaurant was quiet but still had a good atmosphere. Staff were friendly and great customer service, with one gentleman (possibly the owner) giving a great welcome and description of the dishes, with some great humour too. Food was delicious, possibly the best fish cakes I’ve had. Hope to be back

Absolutely incredible staff! Attentive and friendly. Lady with the septum was lovely and always present!! Food was absolutely stunning and full of flavours - highly recommend their "Pollo Bella Rosa". Thank you so much for the enjoyable visit with my wife.
