Not the place for a meal out. The restaurant was unwelcoming and lacked ambience. No background music or noise, which probably wasn’t helped by no customers in a place of about 20 covers. The only sound was of the fridge / freezer which was loud. Shame as I imagine this place once busy when it opened but has likely changed hands. The food was average. I have had better burgers for the same price. They also don’t do alcohol (no licence I expect) which isn’t an issue but a bit odd for a restaurant. Definitely more of a take away place you can sit in but we won’t be back. Unfortunate as liked the idea of a local burger bar.

Popped in for brunch on a Sunday morning. Food is the standout for me here. It's great quality for a very reasonable price. We had one of the breakfasts, a shake and a juice between us - sausage was amazing, eggs poached perfectly, toast well buttered and baked beans not too runny. Both the shake and the juice were exactly as advertised and we really enjoyed them. The menu as a whole is excellent and the plates on the other tables looked equally as good. Only thing i would say is that if you like your cafes on the quieter side then Sundays morning possibly not for you. Complete recommend. You won't be dissapointed.

We celebrated a special birthday party on Wednesday evening at Blue Check. We had 40 guests for a sit down 3 course meal. The menu choice was huge. Covering everyone’s taste. Starts were fabulous. Mains included Fish, vegetarian, lamb and chicken. Dessert was a very difficult decision too. The staff couldn’t do enough for me s all. Would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet dinner out or for that special occasion.

I met up with a long lost friend and we ended up looking for an impromptu dinner early evening on a weekday. We walked in without booking and they squeezed us in as they were fully booked. Although almost empty at the time, it filled up before we left. I opted for the calves liver with mash, and my fried ordered the sea bass. Now I never thought that calves liver and onions was an Italian dish but according to many entries on the net it is. Suffice to say the liver placed on the top of seasoned buttery mashed potato, with onion gravy, the depth of flavour was excellent. Maybe a touch better than my Mum used to make and that’s saying something. My friend was extremely happy with their fish dish as well. All in all, an excellent impromptu dinner. If a suburban restaurant is full on a Wednesday night, that says something.

We ordered Kolkata Chicken Biriyani (the very dish that attracted me as we don’t have many places selling this) and to be honest I was not very hopeful that it’ll be authentic. So I was not expecting much from it anyway - but to my disappointment, it didn’t even have the basic biriyani flavours. No trace of kewra water, rose water or meetha water whatsoever which was advertised on the menu. If you’re making any kind of biriyani with chunky over cooked breast pieces, then sorry! it’s not biriyani. It just tasted like some chicken dry gravy mixed rice. The home style on the bone chicken curry was not great either and I am yet to taste their mutton curry (which I also ordered) but I’m not even bothered to open that box now.

My birthday party was arranged for 6 of us. My husband knows that I really enjoyed our last visit. They coped well with a surprise birthday dessert and service was acceptable.. However, the lamb shish kebabs this time was a disappointment. Small / tiny pieces of meat and not many pieces. Food was quite tasty but I wasn't full after a kebab which was a first!! It was no longer good value for money so won't be returning. It was a very good restaurant with generous portions sadly.
