The best restaurants serving Default food in East Cambridgeshire East of England

We went at just after 9.30 pm on a Friday night. We were welcomed by lovely staff and given menu’s and Thai crackers. We were asked a couple of times what we wanted to order before having time to look properly- the lady told us the chef needed to know as they closed soon- the hours on the food said until 10.30pm. We ordered and were served very quickly and received the starters and mains at the same time - not a big deal but we felt we were rushed. Initially the lighting was low and warming- around 10pm the main lights were put on- far too bright. We asked for them to be turned down- which they were for about 5 minutes, then they were turned up again. It was clear to us they wanted us to leave. If they are so keen to close at a certain time, maybe they shouldn’t let customers in for an hour or more before closing! We ate our meal and quickly drank a bottle of wine- we were in and out in just over an hour!!! Lovely food but I’m unsure we would return as it was far too hurried and we definitely felt in the way!

Lovely treat to go to the Red lion. Always lovely food and a nice cozy atmosphere. Try and come a couple times a year and always consistently good and recommend as best place to eat in Soham area.

Best place ive been to for a traditional fish and chips

Chose outside table. Went inside for menus. Told service would be to table. Waited 20 minutes. Nobody came. Went to Cutter Inn

Cracking locals pub. Great fun. I loved the whisky theme. Great real ales. Proper job on draught and live music on Thursday night.

Always made to feel welcome by Tina & Danny, they are very accommodating to both me and my family. Highly recommend this pub for a nice family meal, plenty of food options available, food always arrives quickly and with a smile 😊

I took my mother here for breakfast on Mother’s Day. There's a great selection on the menu and the coffee is fresh and so good we had two with our breakfast! Service is exceptional and relaxed. Décor is very attractive and stylish too. Will definitely return!

An excellent chippy in Soham. It’s always the go-to and always delivers. Really quick and cheerful service and reasonable price. Will always go back and leave satisfied.

As a regular to the venue I cannot fault the friendliness of the place The owner is always friendly and will go out of his way to make sure you get what you want, and the staff are always happy and welcoming. The food is always cooked just the way I like it and in big or large portions if you ever visit Soham you cannot miss it as it is close to the town monument on the high street.

Popped in on a lunchtime for a swift Old Speckled Hen, which was in superb condition. Lovely, friendly village pub.

Recently reopened. Lovely little pub with good food and the usual choice of drinks.

I really enjoyed my visit today. Food unusual flavours new to me but delicious. Atmosphere different in the two areas. Wd have been better if asked I was enjoying the food. In restaurant's remember every table is a destination! Would and have recommended.
