Excellent traditional fish&chips shop in Soham, Cambridgeshire. Feels like the old school chip shops I remember as a kid and food is delicious 😋 Highly recommended A+++

Large portions, great fish, and the batter is the best I've ever tasted.

The most depressing fish and chip shop ever. Very scruffy looking. Inside and out. Ordered a chip butty. Chips were undercooked. Bread bun was play dough. Only reason I've given 2 starts is because I'm not dead

After not visiting for 8 years due to being out of the country, the handy plaice was on my list of places to visit. I remember eating here 25+years ago in my childhood and it being absolutely delicious. It still stands up today. Top notch fish and chips. Amazingly good food. Eat here now.

Came here on a Monday Lunchtime, absolutely beautiful Fish and Chips, Batter was lighty but tasty and the Fish inside was beautiful, chips decent as well, will visit again.

Lovely customer service and good food.

Not great, chips were nice enough. But cod was super thin and very oil. The chicken wrap was a joke for price. Tiny little thing, asked for all salad, got a few leafs of lettuce nothing else and chicken was basic at best. Terrible.

Not from the area however been staying past couple days. Came across this place, fantastic! Just had my 4th sausage in batter in 24hours! Chips are great and tasty

Me & my husband just had a burger from here….a Quarter Pounder…..YUCK! Will never come here again! We threw them away!

felt ripped off here , ordered a burger meal at £8.20 bearing in mind theyre £6 elsewhere locally , i received a deep fried burger patty in a bun , no sauce , no salad just a plain dried out burger , small portion of chips , must be the worst take away meal ive had in a long time , would have still been overpriced if it was nice but anyway wont be back ...theres poppys around the corner which is better value

Great chippy, first place we went to when we first moved to Soham and first place we think of for a cheeky takeaway.

Food is nice. The shop is run down which doesn't give me much hope in terms of how they clean the place. The owner might be nice but it’s the whole experience that needs to be looked at and not just the end product. Go to poppies instead

Our food today was cooked to order - delicious ! They also do a “pensioner portion” of fish & chips which is ideal for someone who doesn’t have a big appetite. Highly recommended.

I have used the Handy Plaice many times. They are always friendly and efficient the food is excellent and good value.

Good points: Excellent fish (cod) cooked beautifully Bad: Small portions Expensive The most unforgivable was the re-cooked chips which must have been leftover from the lunchtime service, or worse, yesterday. Really bad and unacceptable for the price. Have to rate 3* though because of the lovely fish.

I have been exploring the fish and chip shops in my local area for quite a few weeks now - every Friday I have 5-7 hungry builders to feed. This fish and chip shop is first class - the best in the area. My builders commented on how nice the chips were straight away. The portions are generous. The staff are helpful- cooking to individual requirements. Can't fault them!
