Called and booked a table and informed over the phone we would have a dog with us, person who took our booking was very pleasant, asking what time we wanted to book so that they could ensure we were seated as far away as possible from other tables who were also bringing their dogs. Very friendly welcome from Emma, who looked after us as soon as we walked through the door. Due to a change of chef, there was a slightly limited menu, until new one is released for next season, but when asked for an adjustment to a listed item, they were more than happy to oblige. The food was tasty and the portions were generous. The Bass cask ale was clear as a bell, tasted great and held it's head all the way down the glass. Music was great, not sure if there was a jukebox or piped in but a pleasant change to the usual options of chart 'bangers' or generic muzak. After a previous disappointing meal in a larger venue earlier in the week, this visit was a delight and would be more than happy to come back next time we are in the area.

Have just had a wonderful week in Llandanwg and visited Maes a few times. My husband loves the bacon and cheese toasties!! The owners are lovely. Very friendly and helpful and they always stay open longer than the hours stated.

Booked a table for Boxing day 2024. Turned up on time and found people outside as the place was all locked up. No explanation even though we saw the bar staff enter the booking details in the diary a few days earlier. Thank you to the Cross Foxes who found us a table at short notice

Had a fantastic meal on Friday. Curry night + food for kids....also chicken for the two dogs. Went one afternoon to get a beer but was shut....then the owner Heidi i think that is her name, said come on in and let us have a couple of beers. Love the menu, just the right balance. Thank you gor looking after us,the kids and the pooches. Would go back again. Worth the six hour drive. Heidi dont work yourself to the wall. Its a gold mine. A perfect balance. Find someone you trust and sit back a little. I have been in the same place. X Thank you.

Always visited this pub when passing through Llanrug with friends and tonight I drove out of my way to have a meal there. I phoned to reserve a table and specifically asked for a cod meal. Staff obliging saved one for me. Came quickly and beautifully presented. First mouthful didn't taste right but I carried on breaking it up and tasting bits. Parts cold and rubbery/uncooked. Other dinners saw me smelling it on a couple of occasions. Waitress noticed that I'd left it and asked if it was ok but I said I couldn't eat it and explained why. She removed it and didn't return. 1.5hrs later I've had serious upset stomach so I phoned them to complain (something I've never done anywhere) but they'd had my money and didn't want to know. They said I'd eaten it all and yet said he'd tasted it 🤮 after me. 🤮. How unhygienice of him. Customer service missing, never to return 🤮

I had the pleasure of visiting this establishment last weekend for a Sunday lunch, and I can confidently say it did not disappoint in any regard. The venue itself is truly a hidden gem. Nestled away from the hustle and bustle, it offers a wonderfully inviting atmosphere, with a homely and relaxed vibe that immediately makes you feel at ease. Whether you’re looking for a quiet place to unwind or a cozy spot to enjoy a meal, this place hits the mark perfectly. As for the food, it was nothing short of exceptional. The Sunday lunch was cooked to perfection and presented beautifully, offering a depth of flavor that is all too rare to find. Every component of the meal was fresh and thoughtfully prepared, clearly showcasing a commitment to quality. For anyone who appreciates a well-executed Sunday roast, this is certainly a standout. Finding a venue in North Wales that serves such a satisfying and delicious Sunday lunch can be a challenge, but this place truly exceeded expectations. It’s a perfect spot for those in search of a memorable and fulfilling dining experience. I would highly recommend this establishment to others looking for a top-tier Sunday lunch in a welcoming and relaxed setting. I’ll certainly be returning in the near future.

The food here was amazing and quick. The only thing that was irritating were the plagues of wasps hanging around outside. Service was exceptional. Would do back.

Went for a drive and stopped off for a pint and some food. Starter of whitebait was good, my haddock main was OK but nothing special, the chicken tasty was a little overcooked and not succulent. Nothing overall wrong but there's nothing to make me want to go back.

We were a very fortunate walk-in as all the other tables were booked. We were greeted by a human dynamo in the shape of Mel, who ran front of house single-handedly for the first hour. She was friendly, cheerful and extremely helpful. The food was excellent, we both had the sea bass, which was beautifully presented and tasted even better! It seems churlish to make a negative comment, but we both found the waffles a bit too much - one would have been enough! An excellent experience and one we shall repeat next time we visit the area.

We were really disappointed with the pizzas. The dough was poor, one of our 4 pizzas was practically inedible and none of them were good. Dough was flat, wasn't proved properly and was cooked badly. It's such a shame as we used to go a lot and were excited to return after a break. Service was good but the food was disappointing. Really sad to have to write this review, wish it was better as we live locally and want to support.
