Took the grandsons for the Tuesday meal deal. They said it was the best chicken wrap they had ever eaten. I had haddock. Superb

Used to love the fish and chips from here as fish cooked fresh now it’s kept in the warmer so batter was soggy fish was dry chips were soggy and undercooked don’t think we will return 😩

I’m sorry to say we were extremely disappointed. The fish had obviously been sat in the warming compartment for some time as the batter was soggy. The mushy peas were tinned. The chips had been fried twice- very hard edges. And at over £22 for two meals, not cheap.

I've been here before after they new owners took over, I was impressed but this time not so much, they didn't listen to what I ordered. I prefer the system of writing orders down, at least they didn't go wrong. Please bring the fishcake meal deal back but the gravy needs improving, watery and not appetizing

We stay in the village a few times during the year and normally visit the chippy at least once. We went twice last week! We understand its been taken over by new owners and they are doing a great job. The chips were gorgeous on both visits and we tried 2 fish on Friday night and it was gorgeous! My mum said it was one of the best fish she's ever had from a chippy and I would agree. Friendly staff and great service. We'll be back in Feb on our next stay in the village.

Firstly, we'd like to thank John, Pam and Freddie for their excellent services over the years and wish them a happy retirement. Secondly, we'd like to welcome the new owners. John has handed the business over to a great team, who we feel will continue providing tasty take away meals as John did. This evening is the first time we've visited this establishment since the new owners took over. I had fish, chips, mushy peas and Chinese curry sauce. Mark had pie and chips. All I'll say is whilst ownership has changed, the quality of the food is the same...very nice. The both of us look forward to the plans you have for the takeaway. Though glad you're finding your feet first. Thank you for your service. We look forward to seeing what you bring to the place.

An idyllic seaside fish and chip shop that's popular with the locals as well as visitors. A venue we frequent often for our treat of fish and chips. This evening I had chicken, onion rings, chips and gravy. My partner had steak and kidney pie with chips and onion rings. Both meals were excellent. Thanks for our meals. See you again soon. :)

Absolutely the best fish and chips on Anglesey and served at the table by a bubbly fun lady with such a lovely smile. Great value for money and really lovely quirky setting.

Lovely fish and chips with curry sauce and made to feel very welcome with our dog Harry who was given 2 sausages ! Fast service and crispy batter on the fish you can tell it’s good the que was out the door!!

Staying nearby we got take away fish and chips. Other reviews say you have to write down your order, but when we were there it was not required. It is cash only (there is a cashpoint nearby). Opening hours are quite short so time your visit. The fish and chips were freshly cooked (in veg oil) and tasty and priced in line with other places

Only Fish’n’chip shop I’ve been to which requires you to “write-down your order to avoid mistakes or misunderstanding”. Ordered 3x large fish 2x chips from menu board. Very quickly cooked, and was informed we don’t do large or small fish and I’ve given you extra chips as you’ve only ordered 2. Thanked the nice lady, and took our order back to holiday accommodation. We recently came for a mini break to Cemaes Bay and thought we would try the local chip shop our first night. Very glad we did! It's one of the best burgers I've had in years and the kids ate their entire meal quietly and happily (for once!) The portions were brilliant and all well cooked.Thank you and great service by the chap on the phone.

Is this best fish and chip shop in Wales? My self and my friends think so!Not only was the food prepared quickly, it was clearly made using quality ingredients and was piping hot, even though they were clearly busy (always a good sign if you ask me) All of the meals we ordered were delicious! I would personally recommend the cod and chips! The freshest I've tasted! Perhaps even more importantly than the delicious food was the exceptional service!! Friendly and attentive! It was clear that this is local business that really cares about their customers!If you're in the area I would highly recommend you give it a try....and if you're not the area hop in the car, it'll be worth the journey!

Best Fish and Chips in a long time!We had fish, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce, with a side of chicken bites. The portions are large, great value for money.The fish tasted amazing, the batter was light and crispy, honestly the best fish I have had in ages.Chips were absolutely gorgeous and the chicken bites were a lovely extra and proper chicken, not the horrible processed chicken like in a chicken nugget from that chain restaurant.They are doing phone orders and collections, which worked really well and the time given was spot on. Staff were all friendly.If you are in the area, I would definitely recommend trying it!

As always, when we visit Cemaes Bay we always have a «pit stop» for a meal at this chippy. Due to the corona situation, we had to order take away this time. We turned into Cemaes Bay in the evening and phone placed the order for my wife and myselves. I was given a time to pick up the food I have ordered. As the shop rule allows only two persons in at the same time, I had to wait a little bit longer than usual. However, I got my food, drove down close to the beach and had this excellent meal while sitting in the car looking out over the ocean. The food met our expectations during this visit as well. This chippy serve excellent food and give the customers value for money. Highly recommended!

We were staying in the area so looked up somewhere for a chippy supper...This placeseemed to be ideal given the reviews.Ordering and collecting was extremely straight forward and stff were polite.I guess price was about average+++We started our supper and I immediately reach for my phone. Had I visiited the wrong chippy and was there another one in Cemaes which everyone was raving about? Sadly not.Our chips appeared to be frozen. Whilst many were raw, bizarrely, many were rock hard.Apologies, I would rate the chips as amongst the poorest I have had. I personally wouldn't go back or recommend. On a positive, the seagulls enjoyed it.

We live in Holyhead and come here every week for these delicious food. We always have chips and chicken tikka and small chips and jumbo. And its amazing. The staff are fantastic very friendly and helpful. Thank you 😊

Stumbled on this after a long day on the beach! Busy when we went but under COVID you order straight away pay and then wait outside. Telephone orders are also accepted.We ordered cod and chips, much peas and curry sauce. Good portion size, fish was excellent and the banter from the girls was great.Recommended if you are looking for a chippy tea!

Popped in after a long 3 HR journey,The gentleman and ladies inside are so friendly and welcoming!I must admit, there was a queue outside when we initially passed, it looked super busy... Definitely a sign of a good meal! So we took the kids to the beach as we had promised them all week and popped in just in the nick of time as they were about to close, all the staff were lovely and chatty, despite such a busy evening and the food was absolutely delicious.My husband was super impressed with his steak pie, the fish was to die for and the children were over the moon with sausage and chicken bites!!Thankyou so much to the staff, no beach trip is complete without good fish and chips, and you certainly obliged!!!

Visited here during a short break in Cemaes. We decided to eat in their small restaurant and glad we did. The staff are all lovely and the portions are huge. It’s a must if you are in the area, one of the best fish and chips I’ve eaten. Reasonably priced too!

A good fish and chip shop. Fish cooked to order when you enter the shop. Choice of haddock or cod. Generous portions of chips and decent sized fish. Can eat on site, mushy peas a bit overly green but tastyThe expanded polystyrene boxes that the takeway orders are given in are not a good idea as it causes the food to sweat and the batter lose its crispness in transport. But if it is a nice day take then to the harbour open and enjoy !!

I was introduced to this fish and chip shop by my daughter. What a find the fish is locally caught on Anglesey and fried with great care. The owners are lovely people nothing to much trouble for them if special requested. Fish and chips to die for worth a visit!!

After a long day painting on llanddwyn island my sister and I were starving, it was late and we still had a journey back to our cottage. Then there it was, a chip shop and still open! Even better they had tables and chairs and hot pots of tea!What more do you want?Very friendly, very good fish and chips and lashings of tea - perfect end to a perfect day

Local chippy with a good selection. Tasty products but fish is a bit small. Chips are a good size and you can eat in for free or have table service which is at extra cost.

This is a nice fish and chip shop which we visited on the first night of our two night stay. We were recommended this as being good for fish and chips and we weren’t disappointed. Originally we were hoping to eat them at the harbour but I struggle with walking and decided to eat inside. It was very busy so we had a bit of a wait but the food was of excellent quality. The chips were white which was a bit of a surprise but we were told about them by our B&B hosts. It certainly did not affect the taste and the chips were good. Good value, from a busy local fish and chip shop.

Had our annual visit to the turkey kebab that’s firmly in place in the hothold here and as always we weren’t disappointed. Fresh cooked fish and chips. Lovely peas and as usual a take away salt/vinegar and Tommy k bottle so we can add lashings of our favourite condiments at the harbour. Service is steady but not the quickest which can lead to a queue at times but the quality of food and the friendly staff keep me coming back!!

17 of us visited Cemaes on holiday staying at a few locations. We all had fish and chips from here on weds night and it was a delight. Little extras made a big difference like free salt and vinegar to take back to our lodging. Thank you - great fish and chips!!

What a find! We were overwhelmed by how kind the staff were as nothing was too much trouble. The fish and chips were brilliant but the children’s meal was something else. Much to the delight of my two year old grandson, his meal came in a bucket with spade and flags! Will definitely be visiting again.

Iv been coming for years now and iv tried many others local chippies and this one is by far the most freindlest/cleanest/reliable/ and most importantly the fish itself is to die for! The staff are very friendly and kind. Brought my family here my friends here..im forever passing the word on for the best around!! Never had any problems. Very well priced!!! Trust me...this is one of them shops you can smell a mile away and gets your taste buds going and you'll always go back for more! Take my advice and try for yourself. My regular for years.. 10/10 for there service.

Visited Cemaes with my family, 2 adults and 3 kids. Had amazing day out and finished off with brilliant fish and chips , definitely the best around. Kids had fish burgers and loved them. Will visit soon for a takeout.

We came here as a family, enjoyed the beach and treated ourselves to a meal at the chippy and it was the most delicious meal we had in along time. Highly recommend this place to my friends and family.

Visited with my husband and wow the chips were amazing, better than before. This time I ordered something different from my usual , a plaice and was superb. Highly recommend this place. Lovely to finish our day off.

No gluten free and the the staff appear to need to attend charm school! It needs competition. Personally, nip in the car and find another one at say Benllech.

This place seems to feed a lot of people including locals and tourists, however the food is not the best. There is a massive lack of choice locally and it's either this place or a couple of pubs/hotels around. The chips were very soggy. Burguer was very basic and nothing to write home about . Fish was ok, nothing special. Staff is friendly but it can get very busy in the evenings so you might have to wait for quiet some time to get your food. They have some tables to eat in but I recommend to use the picnic tables at the harbour if the weather is good.

Another trip to y wygr fish and chips and I can honestly say it is the best fish and chip shop by a mile love the food staff are very helpful and and always smiling wouldn’t go anywhere else

My wife and I have a tradition during summer holiday in Wales. The tradition is to have a meal in the Y Wygyr Fish & Chip Shop. After we had explored the Conwy Castle and the smallest house in Britain, we ended up in Cemaes Bay. The owner John and his staff was friendly and serviceminded as always. As Norwegians we are used to eat good fish, and that is what we always gets here in this chippy. The cod and the home made fries was excellent. This chippy deserves all the awards that they have got and we will recommend this resturant to all fish and chips lovers. Thanks to the Y Wygyr Fish & Chip Shop for excellent food and service. We look forward to visit you again.

After reading reviews perhaps my expectations was to high.

My mother in law was raving about this place months before we even visited and it lived up to the hype! Brilliant food, very reasonable prices and wide range of options! The lady serving us saw we had a young baby and gave us a tiny spade for him and a bucket to go with it. Felt nothing was too much for the staff to ensure that you enjoyed your time inside the restaurant!

Totally and utterly surprised, fish, chips, curry and service superb. So glad we called in.... Amazing staff cleaned the plates......

I have to say these were the best fish and chips I have had in a very long time. Even the sun came out so we were able to sit by the sea eating them. Scrumptious

We visited the bay to take the dog for a walk after having a BBQ. People in the harbour eating chips, well they smelt lovely so had to try some on the way back to the car as full as we were. Service fine and we enjoyed our chips. Will call in again when we can try the fish. Super place to visit and definitely return when we haven’t eaten.

We were staying in Llanfechell and fancied a cosy night in with a chippy we googled the closest one, what a delight! Staff were friendly and funny and there was so much choice! Pizzas! Burgers! Thee biggest vegetable spring roll I’ve ever seen! We were spoilt for choice and the food was delicious! I don’t use tripadvisor but I’ve told everyone I know and still felt the need to tell people what a gem we found! Thanks guys! From the late ones!

Lovely fish and chips, but the wait is sometimes crazy. Preorder your food, and that way it'll be ready when you pick up.

14 family members stayed nearby and the first time we preordered various meals everthing was excellent. The second time we also preordered for 10 of us and again the meals were really good. We ate everything from fish to spam fritters so all the family had what they wanted.

On holiday and a big family gathering of 14 of us. We took a list and left it with the very helpful staff and went to the pub. We were told to come back after 20mins and it was all waiting for us in boxes. We were annoyed that we had forgotten to ask for sauces. To the credit of the gorgeous chippy they had packed vinegar, tomato sauce and tarter for us. That little touch went a long way and it is the best chippy in Anglesey in our opinion.

Wonderful local chippy.Watch your head as you go in,there are signs and notices.It was two welsh cottages knocked into one on the High Street in Cemaes.There is parking opposite,sometimes.It is closed on Sunday and Monday but otherwise open from 12-2pm and from 5-8pm.Order your fish to the left of the counter and it is cooked fresh.Choice of Cod,Haddock or Plaice and then anything else that will go with chips or in a bun.Our fish and chips,cod, was really tasty and loads of it.They have a restaurant attatched to them which says Coffee Pot on the outside,it has an alcohol licence.All the staff are cheerful and chatty.

If you are looking for the best fish and chips in Wales, and dare I say even England, go no further. Despite you paying a little more than you normally would, you will certainly not be disappointed. The staff are very friendly and the service second to none. The food portions are not skimped on and you will feel most satisfied after your meal or takeaway. I would recommend anyone who loves their food to go to this chip shop/restaurant.

Travelling through Wales with my husband and stopped here for lunch, beautiful food and such friendly service. Very impressed and will definitely be back if we return to the area on next years holiday.

We can safely say that this is the worst chippy we’ve ever had. It was awful! And we were both ill the next day. £1 for a spoonful of gravy? A small price to pay to make your pie and chips even remotely edible. Disgusting!

I am a regular traveler through Cemaes and always stop by for my lunch when ever possible. Fresh fish and real chips you can't go wrong.

The food and service was fantastic could not fault it the staff was friendly the kids loved the bucket and spade meals.

Stayed in Cemaes and thoroughly loved it. It was a bit difficult to find decent places to eat at this time of year. Read the write ups on here for the fish and chip shop, thought we would give it a go, after a windswept day walking. Was surprised there was no one in when we arrived, having seen the reviews. Asked for a table in the restaurant and was shown though by a pleasant member of staff. Ordered cod chips an peas plus cod and peas. The meals were on the table within 30 seconds of ordering, 2 small thin greyish fish in ok batter, very small portinion of ok chips, some of which were cold and 2 small cartons of peas total cost for food £17.10. We never saw another person until we left through the takeaway and payed.

This Fish and Chip Shop has been a feature of Cemaes Bay High Street for a good number of years. First time I visited I was impressed, this time again I was impressed, it was obvious the shop had changed hands and I was greeted by a very pleasant couple who took my order and rapidly completed it, very efficient. On receiving my order I was very surprised at the cost. I thought they were a little on the expensive side. I must confess that although expensive the fish and chips were of excellent quality, nice and hot, just the thing for a breezy day beside the sea.

Absolutely brilliant local chip shop. Great menu and very reasonably priced. However when we went it was very busy - queuing out of the door.

Recommended by friends we had pie chips and gravy and a small fish and chips. Both were very good. The small portion of fish and chips was huge. Those with small appetites would be advised to share. The staff were friendly. Enjoyable supper.

This summer we visited Cemaes Bay again, as it been two years since we were there last time. As always when we are there, we have to visit Y Wygyr Fish & Chip Shop for a meal. The owner John Williams and his team took well care of us and gave us the very good service, as they always do. The fish and chips was excellent as always. One thing my wife and me noticed, was that the taste and flawor of the fries was different from last time we were there. The fries tasted extremly well and I beleive that they were made from special potatoes, or treated in means of a secret recipe, it could be both. I do not know, however, the fries were fantastic.

My family and I love fish and chips so we were glad there was one just down from where we were staying, in Cemaes. We visited twice during our holiday and every time people were queuing out of the door. The fish and chips were very good and it was clean, however the staff could be a bit more friendly even at busier times. We look forward to coming again!

We visited on a friday night and got there just before 8 when it closes and the staff where still serving at half past 8 until everyone had been seen to .

What a joke this chippy is.you que for half hour as only one person serving st zero mph. Then the chips are under cooked . Will not be returning

Went to Anglesey on a weeks holiday done the rounds and ended up in a little village of Cemaes bay went to the chippy and we where greeted by a lovely lady who sat us down we ordered our food fish chips and peas and the food was absolutely beautiful service was outstanding and lovely staff will definitely be going back again 10/10 for food service and happy staff thank you for your hospitality

It’s good to find a fish and chip shop where you can eat in and imbibe at the same time. We found the staff very friendly, and willing to be flexible about the menu. My wife found her battered cod and chips most agreeable and my curry was very tasty, served as it was with a mixture of rice and excellent chips. The bill too was very agreeable.

Yet again never fails to deliver top fish and chips. Fresh produce makes a difference without a doubt. The place was heaving at lunch time and it was a Thursday, so testament to the food they serve. Well done, more awards on the way no doubt.

The batter on the fish was pale and soggy. The chips were also soggy and stuck together. If you like crispy batter, I would suggest making a point of asking for your fish to be well done. Am awarding two stars as they were at least piping hot.

We moved to the island last year and eat here when we want a sit down fish and chips. Very friendly staff. Its simple fair but well cooked and you can have a drink. The fish is always very good. Some reviews suggest it's expensive. I don't agree.
