We were staying in Hay and Drover offer the only charger for electric vehicles in the town (and it's free). They were generous with their suggestions of using it overnight. They sell maps for local road and MTB rides too, so after we'd been out on one, we stopped by for a coffee and cake. They sell energy bars and gels too, if you're stocking up before or during a ride. A very friendly team!

The Globe hosted a charity event for #bemorefrank (09.11.24) and were the most amazing hosts and venue. Mary, lead the organisation and was open to all of our ideas and accommodating to everything we wanted to achieve that evening. All the staff worked so hard on the night with the vast numbers that came through the door and made the event run as smoothly as can be. Having two floors really allows flexibility plus the outside area (weather allowing) created the best setting for our charity event. Five stars to The Globe!!.

We visited the castle cafe on our trip to Hay after looking at recommendations and I'm so glad we did. We both had the steak with the most delicious chips and a garlic mayo. The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. I felt a draught and Izzy, one of the waiting staff, helpfully got me a blanket for my knees. There's something for everyone on the menu and for all budgets.

We stayed here with our two dogs for one night prior to attending the Welsh Kennel Club Champ Show. Our room was really well equipped and very nicely laid out, and very clean. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff. The full english breakfast was spot on, and they went out of their way to ensure it was ready for us promptly as we had to head off to the show. We will definitely stay here again.

Did not eat but popped in for a beer. Looked a lovely pub plenty of history and charm. Beer was a nice, local butty Bach and was lovely. Service was slow and i think the bar man wasn't very chatty or hospitable . An comfortable pub with seating inside and out . Receptionist was very friendly. Can't comment on food as they don't open kitchen between 1500 and 1800.

Good cosy spot for breakfast in central Hay-on-Wye for breakfast. We enjoyed terrific poached eggs on toast with sausage and avocado on toast. With excellent coffee, we were well set up for serious browsing in the many shops which constitute the world’s second-hand book capital. The bill came to £26.75 for two.

Staff very good, location excellent! Food poor and expensive! Called in on the way to Hereford Hospital and in need of a drink and food. Ordered Fish & Chips with Mushy Peas. Drinks were Pot of Tea and a Coffee. Teapot was chipped around rim and lid cracked with dirty stain. Coffee ok, but very small cup. Fish & Chips arrived and it was obvious that the Fish and the Chips were frozen before preparation, very tasteless and covered in excessive batter. I managed mine as we were in a rush and I was very hungry. My wife struggled to eat hers due to the quality. The staff were very good when I complained, but all they were allowed to do was knock off the drinks price. Still had to pay £25.00 for two basic meals that were very poor! It is a shame that the food department lets the whole store down.
