Big plate of sausages, crispy bacon, hash browns, mushrooms. I swapped the baked beans (yuk) for tomato and added extra black pud. A great all-day breakfast!

Having lived in the area all my life, I’ve only just taken it upon myself to call in here and sample a breakfast. I pass this diner 2 or 3 times a week and have never even thought about going in there until today. Why I never visited sooner is beyond me. The diner is situated right next to the A40 in the village of Pencraig. There’s plenty of parking and the place looks presentable enough and well kept. I ordered myself a large full english and a cup of tea…..it was delicious and extremely good value for money. The diner was very clean and well presented. And the staff were very friendly too. I shall definitely be calling in again. Highly recommended!!

This diner is a regular stop for me when I'm away traveling on business to the south west or south wales. £10.50 for a large English (2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 hash browns, mushrooms, fried egg, beans and toast plus a mug of tea). The place is clean and tidy, friendly staff, clean toilets. Highly recommended and beats the fast food outlets any day!

We stopped for breakfast today on our way into Wales and were not disappointed! After complaining to my partner that I wanted a McDonald’s breakfast, I’m so glad he ignored my request and instead stopped here. We chose the breakfast burger and it was delicious. Everything was freshly cooked, piping hot and not at all overly greasy like some places. Staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. Next time we travel through we will definitely stop by again. Thanks guys.

Called for late breakfast, ordered Americano coffee and a bacon butty. The bacon was cooked in front of me. I asked for a bap without butter and was offered the bacon with the fat trimmed off. The white bap was soft and fresh, I didn’t need any sauce. I noticed that this smallish, unpretentious cafe was quite full and I wasn’t surprised as it serves tasty, well cooked food at a reasonable price. I will definitely call again. My bap and coffee cost £5.

We dropped by this morning for breakfast and were delighted by the food, and value for money. The service was incredibly friendly and we had a traditional fry-up which has to be done a couple of times a year! Food was not greasy, the eggs were very fresh and their tea at £1 a mug was outstanding. Its not the Ritz but its clean and friendly, and at £16 for two very large breakfasts including tea, its unfair or unjust to complain. Well done to them!

Have visited here twice now whilst commuting to work in South Wales, and doesn't disappoint!, Had a Full English with a cup of tea and toast (included) and was just what the doctor ordered, the bacon I found to be their pièce de résistance, proper thick cut and no expense spared. All in all tasted great, value for money and yes everytime I am working down here now I'll make sure I stop here for a bite to eat. Menu wise, they have a variety for everyone, The place is clean and tidy and the owners are friendly and welcoming. The only sad thing I suppose is that Roadside cafes are dwindling in numbers due to the McD's/Greggs explosion so make sure if your heading down the A40 you stop here at Pencraig Diner and ignore the others dotted about........you wont regret it. It's on the left about a mile or so before the Welsh border

We stopped here to meet up with relatives to exchange prezzies and catch up. Really lovely owner, nothing too much trouble. My brother and partner had there breakfast before we arrived and was really impressed, said it was really nice. My partner and I ordered some baps to take away and was very happy with our choice. Well cooked and good quality produce. No pressure to hurry and leave and owner asked when we wanted food made so we had lovely hot food when we travelled back. This is now our chosen meeting place.

I’ve driven past this place about once a month for the last 20 years. Today I was hungry so, for the first time, I stopped. Bloody excellent. I requested a bacon and egg sandwich, and was asked if I wanted the bacon fat on, fat off, or crispy. I don’t think I’ve ever had that level of service before, and I’ve eaten in some pretty classy joints. I went for crispy, obviously (who wouldn’t?), and it was. More than just a roadside cafe. Friendly bloke too.

We stopped off here on the way to the local mountain bike trails. There were 15 of us and one person serving. That being said we were greeted and food served in a good time. There were a few other people there at the time as well. It was clean and the food was ok. What more can you ask for.

I went in here today with my wife for something to eat on my way to Wales, having been a truck driver for the last 30 years I've been in some truckstops some good some not so good and some terrible. Upon entering the cafe we were met by a happy cheerful brummie as he said, very polite and helpful so we had a medium breakfast each and we could swap and change at no extra cost. This was the BEST breakfast I have ever had no grease or any of that just pure quality and so tasty and filling. We wish you all the very best in your new venture sam and hope you get all the business you can take and more.

Came here as we were staying at one of the local big hotels for a couple of nights, it was much cheaper to come here than eat at the hotels. As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a smile from the gentleman running the cafe, nothing was too much trouble, me and my wife had medium breakfasts with extra black pudding which were more than enough to keep us going all day, big size portions and the quality of the ingredients were all very good.Overall excellent cafe, very welcoming and very good breakfasts, thank you very much.

Recently taken over so don’t let looks deceive. The outside car park area still needs some work but I’m sure it’s in hand. The inside of the cafe is lovely. Very homely and nicely decorated. We were greeted by the friendliest brummie! Food is what is says on the tin. Nothing fancy just good honest diner style food. We had the veggie breakfast which was all freshly cooked and huge portions. If you want a good fry up - this is the place. Recommended.

Stopped here for a quick breakfast during marathon trip from Norfolk to Pembrokeshire.Right at the side of the main road, and plenty of parking. Old-fashioned, down-to-Earth greasy-spoon style diner with smiley, friendly and welcoming Brummie owner, who asked us lots of questions about what we wanted and how we would like it cooked. Good portions and great value. Went on our way refreshed and fuelled-up.If you want a classier breakfast establishment, pretty sure you won't have to look far; but if you just want a quick stop for a decent, good-value breakfast served with a smile before you resume your journey, look no further......

We have driven past so many times and promised ourselves we would stop one day. That day was last friday and it was a great decision. The cafe is simply a great place to eat good, homecooked and fresh food at very reasonable prices. We had jacket potatoes and bacon sandwiches, all freshly cooked. The owner is a delight, pure and simple. Such a warm welcome, such a friendly smile and goodness, he works so hard. He was on his own and the cafe was full - he didn't stop smiling. We will stop again on our way to Cardiff. Thanks so much.

Used to drop in here each month Jan 2016- October 2017 on my way to Wales for business. Not been since then due to a job change but went in for breakfast yesterday and, despite a change in ownership, was as good as ever A gorgeous full English (as good as I’ve ever eaten and definitely the best fried bread ever!) and even for big eater like me, very filling . No frills, just a decent cafe doing the basics right. Good luck to the new owner and happy retirement to the previous one

Popped on with a friend on our way back from Birmingham, had to teas and two small breakfasts (£10.00) tea was a cup of hot water with a tea back literally chucked next to it by the frumpy man behind the counter, clothing covered in grease stains. Was told NOT TO use the spoon to measure sugar as it was a waste, the dispenser would measure a single spoonful, explained i took one and a half spoonfuls and he literally sneered and walked off. I wont go there again, dreadful service.

We have been visiting The Drover's for around 25 years. As a full Family initially, now just the two of us. Peter and his Team never disappoint. The welcome is always friendly and we do enjoy a modest pre Lunch drink in the cosy snug out the back. The views of the river are spectacular. It was a bit chilly to be sitting outside on the balcony but one brave chap did take his coffee out there! The food, well, you can't call it 'just Sunday Lunch! It's a foodie treat! Plenty of beautifully cooked food. Always hot and tasty. The quality is certainly there as well. Cannot fault anything and the Sweets are to die for! The atmosphere is invariably pleasant. A good mixture of Walkers, Holiday makers and Locals. Thanks so much for everything over the years Peter. We're already in the process of booking next year's trip to Wales, so keep an eye out for an email soon!

Our first time here this morning. From the minute we walked in we was welcomed and seated. All staff were welcoming. Myself and fiancé ordered a full English, food was lovely not one fault and clear plates. I had a cappuccino which was tasty and perfect. We were approached and asked if everything was okay during our meal. We paid with cash and left a tip as we were very pleased. We will definitely be attending again on our next stay.

Great place to stay. A friend and I cycled to the area and stayed here overnight. The owner is very accommodating and friendly. The room is a generous size with all the facilities you would want, and you have access to an outside deck area with lounge chairs and table which is ideal on a sunny day. The breakfast was also lovely. The location was great as it’s a 5 min walk from 2 good pubs and a post office/shop

Mock timber frame manor house retaining much of its character and charm. No lifts. Breakfast was choose your own pre-packed cereals with a cooked option. Dinner was a mini-taster with delicious options which we watched cooked on TV cameras. The room was clean but dated with an en-suit crammed in. High windows restricted light and views of extensive gardens and river. The staff were friendly and willing but lacked service training. Guests our age do not wish to be called 'you guys'.
