I'm aware the house o'hill has just opened back up but our experience was as if we had just walked into faulty towers, there was a boss lady trying to take orders but didn't have a clue, a boss man that just wanted to stand at pizza counter and do nothing and a poor girl stuck on till not knowing how to work till and don't forget jack and Victor in the kitchen, there was 6 tables with people sitting and you thought there was 36 most meals came out late and wrong, also no alcohol sold people will wait for a meal if there drinking alcohol but not if there drinking coke, food was basic but good when we eventually got it, for the life of me I don't know what the problem was cause me and my wife could have served and cooked what was sitting on Saturday night ourselves with no help, I really hope they can turn this round

A lovely place to visit with very friendly, helpful owners. They were very accomodating with food intolerances, and the meals we chose were excellent, good prices too, would recommend to others.

Arrived without booking, as we were unfamiliar with the area, and although the restaurant itself was full, we were generously offered a table, albeit in the bar area, which we were happy to accept. It would have been quite possible that we might have had slow service, even forgotten, but nothing of the sort; we were promptly seated with menus, our orders taken, and our meals served, all without undue delay by friendly restaurant and bar staff. The food was simple but delicious and perfectly cooked, in generous portions, and all concerned should feel proud of their contributions to such an excellent experience. Bravo!

Have passed this place quite often when visiting Dumfries. I had never popped in as the shopfront is a little uninspiring. However, I was wrong as I finally went in today and the food and service was first class. Prices were good too. No more passing by when next in the town. Straight to Molly Mae's Tea Room.

This cafe has a really distinctive menu for its size with a choice of meat- fish- and plant-based dishes. They were extremely attentive to a very unusual dietary issue which involved them adapting several elements of one of their menu items. Both waiter and chef spoke to me before we settled on a dish. This was all handled in really friendly manner.

First time visit from recommendations, as a place to visit on our trip round the Lowlands. Canāt fault the food & service we received at the table; top notch indeed! I rated this review on the low side as weād only been in the restaurant for 5 mins where we witnessed some very unprofessional behaviour from the staff member behind the till (sadly didnāt see name badge) to the lovely lady who took us to our seat (named Maria); she like us, weāre taken aback by her manner. Definitely not what you would expect to see or hear in front of customers. If Caulders do any Customer Service training then perhaps this member of should attend! The other staff we had contact with were professional & provided great service. Overall a pleasant visit but no rush to return.
