We visited this cafe on a Sunday lunchtime and their weekend menu was mainly brunch dishes. We had an Eggs Benedict and a Chicken Club sandwich - both excellent, with pots of caravan and mayfair tea, chosen from their extensive range. To follow we had a pumpkin spiced cheesecake and a large meringue with cream and a couple of americanos. We couldn’t fault anything, it was all delicious and served by lovely friendly staff. A lovely experience and we wholeheartedly recommend!

We visited the Fig & Olive before our ferry from Cairnryan to Larne as we wanted a spot to relax after a long car journey before the ferry. It’s a great spot- plenty of free parking available nearby, just a short walk to the cafe. The menu is perfect; really tasty, fresh food & lovely strong coffee. It’s also dog friendly which was a big bonus for us & our Cockapoo was quite happy chilling by our side there We liked it so much we decided to stop again on our return trip. If getting the ferry again, we’ll very likely return.

We chose this place because it was meant to be dog friendly and it.certainly was that. Tables quite well spaced so pooches got under no one's feet and very welcoming. The menu was skewed to Mediterranean and looked very tempting as were the selection of cakes! We were , however, only after a light lunch and I had a delicious thick soup and she had a tasty quiche with roasted tomatoes. Parking was close by on the sea front right by a nice park. We will go again.

Stranraer is possibly the end of the world, but at the end of the road is the Fig and Olive. A wonderful selection of foods. I had the Chicken and bacon club and my wife had a trio salad. You could upgrade your drinks for a small charge and water was provided. We had lemon Cannoli’s for a bit of sweet after, spit on. There was a lovely bookshelf with books for sale, there was nothing negative about the place at all

We've been coming here for a while now. Food ok but maybe not quite as good as it was. Decor a bit tired - never was that lovely but really needs a bit of livening up now. But the real flaw is the waitress with ATTITUDE - there are several young women doing their best to be smiley and pleasant and an older woman who isn't - in fact she borders on the bossy and is very definitely rude. Frankly this has now put us off coming back. Shame. But there are other cafes in the town.

First time visiting both Fig & Olive establishments - first stop at the FO Deli across the road and what an amazing selection of high quality items. More importantly, warm and friendly customer service from Lilly - thank you! I wish I could say the same about the Fig & Olive Cafe where we were met by a sullen, unsmiling server who despite every effort made to engage by us never cracked a smile once all the time we were there. You'd maybe expect this attitude from a petulant adolescent but not a middle aged woman. The cakes were OK - coffee amazing, but the service would put me off returning. It could have been her sunburn (looked painful) or just a bad day - but reading a few other reviews here... I'm guessing not. Staff training on how to give people a warm welcome and smile is really, really needed. What a shame.

We visited for breakfast, my other half had the Eggs Benedict with myself going for the F&O cooked breakfast. My two fried eggs were burned brown with the yolks utterly solid. The bread was ridiculously crusty, it was difficult to cut, never mind chew. My other left gets. Probably fair to say that the bacon was somewhat over-cooked as well. The vine tomatoes tasted rather odd. Overall my food was pretty awful, ‘truck stop’ quality at best. My banana milk shake was nice. My other half, bar the hard bread, faired somewhat better. Though her eggs had a strong taste of vinegar. When paying the bill my other began to comment about our disappointment, however, the immediate response was that they had a trainee chef in the kitchen. No other comment from the staff. It was our first visit and most definitely our last.

We thought for ages where we would eat on our frist post-lockdown outing before eventually deciding on Fig and Olive. We made a good choice. We had 100 mile round trip to drop things off in Portpatrick, and knew we'd need to eat lunch somewhere. A picnic? - no, we have to be brave and eat out. A hotel in Portpatrick? - hmm, never been before. Fig and Olive - yes! we'd been before for snacks, knew it was nice.So we reserved a table. When we arrived we missed the sanitiser and contact sheets by the door, but a waitress bought the sheet over for us to complete. The staff all had PPE, and the tables were a good distance apart. I chose a ham and cheese croissant, my husband a chicken club sandwich. Both were great. While we were eating the staff were sanitising each table as it cleared, and the doors into the toilets. Quite impressed. This was a good experience. Though everything was different, the new measures didn't feel intrusive, plus we had a tasty lunch.

We took some cakes to takeaway and there were numerous GF options which was fantastic - rocky road, white choc rocky road, florentines, meringues etc. I would certainly recommend, only negative was that it was a bit too cold for me, but it wouldn’t put me off going back as the food was so good!

I ordered poached egg on toast with bacon and filter coffee. The coffee was not filtered but came in a cafe tier that had already been pushed down. It had not worked so the coffee was full of grounds that formed a muddy layer in the bottom of the cup. The poached egg was all but solid and on toast so hard that I could not cut or bite through the crust. I had to cut the crust off the slightly softer bread. The bacon also was over cooked and so hard that I could neither cut it or pick it up with a fork, but had to break it into pieces and eat with fingers. This cost me £9.30! For a place that had a best cafe award in 2017 it was not their best moment by far. I certainly will not return.

No.1 for coffee and cake in Stranraer! The staff as always were super friendly and the chocolate brownie was delicious. According to my 6 year old, they serve “the best hot chocolate ever!” Praise indeed! Thanks again F&O;!

Stopped off in Stranraer en route to Port Patrick for breakfast, we went into Fig and Olive , on TripAdvisor review said they were dog friendly...,sorry no dog policy,,there was one customer in this establishment, another couple with a dog was also refused, four customers turned away, the staff were lovely but explained there is no dog friendly cafe’s in Stranraer , you can sit and eat outside but not inside.

Loved having a wee solo lunch here and felt very welcome. Great to see so many gluten free options and a super selection of magazines to read for solo diners! Looking forward to going back.

Absolutely gutted to find this place had ceased trading, since our last visit in August 22. This hidden gem was part of our journey down south for the past 7 years, after stumbling on it by accident. It offered a hearty meal for a fraction of the price they charge, at a service station

Popped in for a Sunday Guinness to find everyone tucking into ENORMOUS Yorkshire puddings stuffed with braised beef, roast spuds, veg and gravy. We succumbed to the glorious smell of the food and it beat us, hands down, great food, great service. The two girls working in there are gold dust, give them a raise!!

The SWI had our Christmas Meal here this year and pre ordered. I had the turkey and trimmings which was served on a huge platter and three huge slices of turkey. Everything cooked to perfection. I took the apple strudel and ice cream - great ice cream. Everyone enjoyed what they had ordered and a lovely atmosphere, and attentive serving staff who were pleased to see us and cheery.

This cafe has a really distinctive menu for its size with a choice of meat- fish- and plant-based dishes. They were extremely attentive to a very unusual dietary issue which involved them adapting several elements of one of their menu items. Both waiter and chef spoke to me before we settled on a dish. This was all handled in really friendly manner.
