Absolutely outstanding tasting ciabatta lunches (the king oyster mushroom, the teriyaki seitan and the marinated tempeh, lettuce and tomato). I know I’ll be thinking about my lunch until I get to eat here again. Really good oat milk coffee and super freshly baked cakes - the fruit loaf, fruity bun and peanuty-iced muffin. So much love, skill and care goes into the food and welcoming atmosphere here that it’s just a wonderful place to eat and relax. If I could give 10 stars I would. Thank you for such lovely food and Sunday afternoon chat.

My husband and I had an evening meal at The Smithy with a couple of friends on Saturday evening. The meal was excellent, as was the welcome and the service. The menu was imaginative and the atmosphere was very good. We would certainly eat there again if in the area and would thoroughly recommend it.

On the 18th January at around 17-30 I rang to book a table as we where staying in the village for the evening I was told the restaurant was fully booked all night so no tables would be available I walked past at around 8pm that evening to visit the spar shop to get something to eat I was surprised to see only 2 tables occupied As this was the only place open to eat I was somewhat disappointed

We have eaten here on a few occasions now and have never been disappointed with the food or service regardless of meal chosen and with nice cheerful staff and prices it is a great stop off on the way to the N Ireland ferries or back towards Dumfries, We would recommend this eatery without hesitation.

You know when your wife takes a photograph of the room key and sends it to you with a caption "Please can I come here again" you know it's a success. Great find by my wife for out wedding anniversary and visit to Glasgow. Great location, fabulous food...

Visited The Pirn House recently and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. There's a varied menu with delicious dishes, catering for all. The owners have worked hard to comply with recent conditions and the restaurant looked inviting. The staff there are very welcoming and pleasant too. I can highly recommend The Pirn House.

Had breakfast here on a busy Thursday morning (just before mums group with 7! buggies). Excellent strong coffee and bacon rolls. Great friendly service

Faultless food and service in a superb, comfortable location. Birthday dinner for five of us, varied choices from beeg to schnitzel to scampi...all beautifully cooked and presented. 3 starters, 5 mains, 3 desserts, drinks and wine working out around £30 a head..great value. Will definitely be back

Stayed in the village over Christmas and visited this lovely cafe twice. Looked lovely inside but we were going for a walk so preferred to order takeaway coffees which were excellent. Lovely friendly people and they even popped out with a treat for our dog which was so kind. I’d imagine they are a fabulous asset to the village and wish them well.

Not been to Riversedge for quite some time and so pleased I returned for a further visit. Went early Friday afternoon and the premises were reasonably busy. Service was very efficient and friendly. Had a lovely cheese scone and a piping hot mug if good quality coffee. There’s quite an extensive menu and they cater extremely well for those that are gluten free. Prices reasonable and a nice atmosphere within. WiFi available. Extensive free parking available nearby. They also have a nice array of home crafts and jewellery available. A lovely well run establishment

We stayed at Windlestraw for the last night of our summer roadtrip. It was amazing and the food of a level we were not expecting. It was a set menu, everyone gathered for canapes and pre-dinner drinks in the lovely garden room before going through to the elegant dining room. I failed at a task I usually much better at and only took a couple of photos as I was enjoying my meal too much but every course was presented as beautifully as the two I did remember to immortalise.
