The best restaurants serving British food in North Lanarkshire Glasgow and Surrounding

I've been here a few times with family, kids, grandkids, etc, and always really good. Foods lovely, staff really pleasant and upbeat. We booked for a couples night out, and the place wasn't particularly busy, but we were seated right next to family with 2 young kids, very noisy, resulting in us being unable to have a conversation due to the usual kids antics. I have no issues with this as kids/parents need to socialise, but why put obvious couple no kids right next to family table when plenty other tables could have been offered. We will try other places before returning. Maybe a little bit of thought could be considered when seating people with no kids on the booking.

Would highly recommend The Avenue Cafe for any catering requirements. Food all lovely and fresh and well presented. The staff are all very polite helpful and friendly. Thank you again my buffet went down a storm!

just been to try the new chefs cuisine. I had the steak pie and my friend had the chicken stroganoff and it was so good Fantastic value for money and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. go try it you will not be disappointed

This is a super cafe where there are lovely cakes and the best tea / coffee / hot chocolate around. I love it.

First time visiting this place this morning, looking for somewhere to have some breakfast and have to say it did not disappoint. 2 of us had breakfast items and 1 had a baked potato, everything was cooked to perfection. Also a sneaky piece of gingerbread cake was given and have to say it was as good as it looks…. The staff were also great and no long waits, everything cooked fresh, we will definitely be back, glad we found it.

We did not stay in the hotel but booked into the restaurant. The menu wasn't huge but there was plenty to choose from. I had the chicken starter and the steak pie which were both very good. My partner had the pate and the shin of beef. Clean plates all round. Good service and friendly staff.

Have eaten here twice and can say they have one of best fish n chips in Glasgow. Food is lovely but their service has been super slow in each time we ordered. Every time we had to wait for longer than expected!Again after getting food, it was so tasty that we have forgotten about our waiting and the delay of food! will go again but defo this time will ask the manager to prepare it a bit faster!

Busy but what a meal excellent quality and staff are very good

Good place for a quiet drink, especially when you have to wait ages for somebody coming off the train! Good place for meals and a great pit stop after coming off the train from Glasgow or Edinburgh.

I don't like the machine asking how much I want to tip when paying by card.

First time trying the smiddy inn for food tonight, we had a table reserved so there was no wait to get in but we waited nearly an hour for our food to come out, with no update from staff during this time about the apparent issue they had in the kitchen, the macaroni cheese was awful and bland, the fish was very dry and overcooked, the small kids Chicago town pizza was burnt and couldn't even cut through the crust, the steak was asked to be done medium rare, and when brought out couldn't even cut through it so got that replaced and was brought out the same if not worse. It was quiet enough there and seemed like an ok atmosphere but the food and service was terrible would not recommend going to for food!
