Loved this place, just happened to be walking by and looked up to see folks sat out on the terrace. Lovely fresh veg, not loads of options but a few really good choices. I had spinach and parsley pancakes with sides- yum! Also a good coffee, didn’t have a cake but they looked great. Will be back!

My vegetarian friend introduced me to The Project Cafe, we were there with our young children. The food and ambience is great, very relaxed.......a little too relaxed....service is slow and haphazard. We asked for our table to be cleared of the previous customers' debris several times and while a few plates were lifted, we cleared most of it ourselves, straight onto the serving counter.....where it sat for a while. Nobody wiped our table. Also, the toilet could be doing with being cleaner, especially the floor, toilet door and skirting boards which were filthy. The kids enjoyed the piano. Nor sure the other customers did! I will return.

As others have said - a great space. Easy to find. Terrace outside. Ticks all the boxes. The experience was mixed though. Here's a tip if you've not been. When you go in - there's no menu. It's all on the blackboards. Not a problem but it means a log-jam of people build up stargazing at the boards. One young woman serving was charming and helpful. She didn't know what the soup was (they only had one...) but to be fair she found out and came to the table to tell us. There's a table with carafes of water and glasses. You find that when you walk to pay and leave. It'd have been an idea to tell us! Food was ordered, no "would you like a drink?" We ordered two soups, a mushroom and cheese pasty and a tortilla. When the food arrived, the pasty/tortilla were put on the table by the man who seemed to be dealing with the food/salad.Er - we ordered soup? The response was that he was just going to bring it all at once. Oh.Pardon us for being overly conventional. Been to any other restaurants mate? Was it served like you just did with ours?Another 2-3 minutes and the soup arrived. It was fine, hot, decent portions and with some nice bread. Plus point! My pasty was good. Tasty and hot! It can cool down... Salad was uninspiring and 'meh'. You get a gloop of something in it whether you'd like that or not. Madam's tortilla was a bit uninspired and varied from lukewarm to cool apparently. Supposed to be hot? Or are we just encouraging it to go 'off' and tempt food poisoning?Afterwards we'd a cake each with a tea and coffee. You have to go back to see what's available and again mix in with the log-jam of people deciding what they want.I'm seriously unimpressed though that the cakes are out on the worktop where everyone coughs and sneezes and the young woman attending to that order cut the cake and then places it on a plate with her fingers after operating the till and handling money. Really? 2016? Shall I donate a cake-slice?As others have said in reviews - coffee looked ok but it had very little taste. Far too weak. The hygiene of the tepid tortilla and the cakes on display and how they're plated up is very poor though. Disappointing. Rather looks a bit like they've got volunteers who haven't worked in catering. It's a place I'd 'like' to say I'd go back to. The location is good. Easy to get to.The experience though - and then the wait and wait when you want to pay where the gormless woman hasn't the sense to see you want to pay, whilst others think you're jumping the queue to order followed by the price of £24.40 for two soups, tortilla and pasty with salad, two slices of cake plus a tea and coffee says...no.

When I first entered the café, I found its design and atmosphere very appealing. I liked the fact that the space has a creative feeling about it, it has a lot of light, simple furniture, a small book shop, lots of magazines to read and the food is good. However, the service was really disappointing. They were very slow and forgetful. I do not mind waiting and actually like a relaxed mood, but here it was too much. It took them a long time to clear out a table and there was not that many people in the café. The guy who took our orders kept forgetting what kind of coffee we wanted (there was just two of us! the order was not that complicated). When he finally served our food and coffee, he forgot to bring cutlery. At first we waited for a couple of minutes thinking he must have went back to the kitchen to get some and we weren't in hurry, but he didn't show up. Finally we went to the counter to ask for some, he and his colleagues just giggled at the fact that he had forgotten. Like I said, I like a relaxed staff, but this just seemed like a bunch of adolescents not caring the slightest bit.

This is a great little cafe. My friend has certain dietary requirements and after reading about the Project Cafe on trip advisor we decided this could be a good choice for lunch. We were not disappointed. There were delicious home made soups and a choice of salads that were a little different from your usual. I had carrot and mung bean salad with warm tomato and olive ciabatta bread, my friend had courgette patties with salad. We both indulged in delicious home made cake and I had coffee whilst she had a choice of teas and settled for Red Bush. Everything is freshly made on the premises and the staff are very helpful and well informed about all the dishes. If you are vegan/ vegetarian or have any food allergies then you will be well catered for here. Another thing I liked was having tap water available for customers to help themselves. The atmosphere was casual and laid back, the prices were very reasonable and the proximity to the city centre was perfect. It is a place I will definitely recommend and it will be somewhere I will return to on a regular basis.

We discovered this cafe during the Glasgow Film Festival and it soon became a regular refuelling and chill out space during the festival and beyond. Serving freshly made, locally sourced vegetarian fare with an imaginative and inviting menu which changed daily. They also make a great range of cakes to go along with excellent tea and coffee, but you need to be quick as they are very popular. Outside the cafe is a terrace which catches the sun so even on a February afternoon it was a pleasant place to enjoy lunch and because it is above the road it's remarkably peaceful for a city centre terrace. Best of all were the super-helpful, friendly staff who always seemed to be smiling.

I've been in the Project Cafe a few times, but today was the first time I've eaten there. The food was fantastic; really tasty and full of fresh produce. It was incredibly reasonably priced, too - at £6 for a full plate of 3 types of salad and either halloumi or tortilla. We got one of each and shared, and both were lovely. There was a lovely fresh green salad, herbed quinoa and spring onion/pea, and a seedy beetroot salad. And not seedy in a bad way! I left feeling ready for the rest of the afternoon - in short, it was a lovely lunch, and I'll be back.

Booked a table at the Cherry Tree the week before we were to travel to Scotland from Derbyshire. We needed a dog friendly pub which this is. On the day we travelled up, they had to shut the kitchen due to a staff injury, however they honoured our booking.. We’ve just had the best service and a lovely pub meal. The dog was brought her own water bowl too. Couldn’t have been more friendly. Good atmosphere too. Great value for money.
