The walk to the Everglades Hotel from city centre was long but easy and if we had more energy, we probably would have spent some time checking out the shops along the way or stopped at a pub or two on the way back. We opted for a late afternoon tea time for our Derry Girls Afternoon Tea at the Everglades hotel because we thought it would give us a planned activity late enough in the day that it would motivate us to have a late dinner. We might have underestimated the amount of food we would be getting though because by 7pm we were both still pretty full. We honestly had know idea what to expect but the experience came recommended by at least 2 people, so we thought we'd give it a try. We were the only ones there for our 3:30pm tea time, the hotel lobby area was calm, lavishly decorated and felt very classy. Our waiter, Kai was very attentive and got us started straight away by offering tea or coffee. I normally wouldn't have tea, but... When in Derry! I ordered camomile tea which I found I actually liked it , and my husband had coffee, in which we both got separate kettles. I quickly researched that camomile will not put you to sleep, rather it has no caffeine and can be great to reduce anxiety. Then the feast began with a variety of 3 cold sandwiches (no crust) and one had crisps (potato chips) in it! We got cupcakes, scones, macarons, pound cake, biscuits (cookies), tarts, and even a side with hot chicken sandwiches on buttered buns and chips (French fries). Everything was so yummy, especially the pound cake and chocolate lava cake. Before our visit ended, we also received a special cocktail with the meal. We took our time spending nearly an hour and a half while we listened to the "pop goes classical/piano" music, chatted about the food and the experience, and enjoyed some people watching. We are guessing that on a Saturday or during the summer it would be a lot busier of an experience, but we felt like VIP having our own private tea time!

My mum and I called today to have a quick bite to eat and where greeted by he loveliest staff member who we later found out was called Loretta. From the moment we arrived she couldn’t have been more helpful, nothing was a bother. It was very refreshing to be greeted and treated in such a friendly manner. well Done Loretta! We will be back!

spent 2 nights in the premier inn .. 1st night we were told restaurant would be closed that was fine the bar was opened, next night we planned to eat there. When we arrived we were told they were dealing with a party of 20 and would have to wait to be served when they were finished .ie at least an hour or more. We have been going here for many years and the restaurant was always one of the best and coped with a lot more people sometimes all the tables were full .. When my husband complained, it wasn't good enough at the reception he was told, we are two separate sites ( in other words didn't want to know). Then a jumped up little chef came running out mouthing that he had a table of 20 .. hubby says exactly you can't cope !! There were no menu's in the rooms or on the tables in restaurant . i,m guessing there on there way out, which will affect premier inn which is a pity...

This place is great after a night out, i often hear it recommended, they serve proper onion rings where the onions are not the processed garbage that everywhere else sells, their chickenboxes have good size chicken chunks and good amount of sauces, the only thing that stopped them getting a full 5 point review from me was they were quite high priced and their onion rings and chips were a bit too greasy for my personal preference

Haven’t eaten in Thompson’s for a long time and decided to try it out for a mid-week meal. Great food, excellent service and great value. There is a set menu at £49.95 per couple for two courses and a bottle of wine. We opted for starters and main. The pulled pork spring rolls were excellent, mains we had the pork belly and slow cooked beef, again both excellent. Service was friendly and efficient -couldn’t fault anything. Would definitely recommend.

Had a great breakfast, poached eggs were spot on. And proper crispy bacon. Service was fast, and if you’re a coffee lover they do Segafredo coffee. Lovely.
