Great spot, lively & good bands on Saturday & good food 👌

What a great bar. The staff were very professional and always being attentive, the atmosphere was electric. The live music was brill, guy that was singing and playing the guitar had the place buzzing. It was so busy we couldn't get a table to eat, but to be honest that didn't annoy us as we ate elsewhere later on. Will definitely visit the Blackbird again......

Lovely local pub. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. We didn't eat, just drinks but I know that the food is always top notch. Great place for a few drinks with friends.

We went for drinks here. It had a brilliant atmosphere. Music was good and so was the cocktails. Staff very friendly. We never ate there but will definitely go back.

Great place. No bookings for tables so it's grab one when you can which is fair. We were lucky to get one straight away. Drink and food service was excellent. Staff friendly and attentive. Food (fish and chips, salt n chilli chicken) was fantastic. Service quick also.

Lovely music and pub-grade roast dinner to your table. Fantastic service and affordable drinks. Only recommendation would be to get the musicians to capture the room more or play more Irish tunes. They were very talented but I felt they weren't being appreciated!

It really is excellent for food or a pre travel drink or to while away a hour or two people watching. I love the craft beer selections they carry and even have a few on tap. Scraggy Bay is my recommendation in that department. Relax and enjoy the whole experience.

Decided to make this our first pit stop on a cheeky little one day away from the kids.. I mean one day isn’t much but corr it’s needed ain’t it ? I mean what even is sleep? My man’s out here surviving on 3 hours kip a night ! One of me eyes is forever half closed it’s got that ! Touch and go If it’ll ever fully Open again I ya!!!!!!! And that’s no lie Trevor ! But yes this place what a lovely drinker beautiful selection of beers I highly recommend the Edringer - what a drop that is naughty stein glass that’ll do nicely Rodney !( the wife ) polished off a fair few of them German blighters and let me tell you the old 5.3 ABV had me Forgetting I had even left this pub?! So yes lovey beer ! Cocktails and shots lovely service Quick and friendly couldn’t ask for More prices decent too around 5:30 a pint which is expected these days ! Gone of the days of 2:80 a pint eh? Where’s it all gone eh ? Good old days ! We keep moving tho we keep Smiling ! Great place for a bite to eat or a few drinks. Good atmosphere and plenty of live music.

We stopped for an aperitif and a drink. In the end we had a drink and indulged in several "starters": ribs, falafels, mash, veggie tempuras and nachos. Apart from the falafels which were a little expensive for the quantity, we ate very well (3 of us) and the cocktails were very good to accompany the small dishes. We recommend ♥️

We only stopped for a beer... The place was very full and the atmosphere was exactly what we expected from an Irish pub. An excellent place to fill your eyes and drink a beer in the company of Irish people and passing tourists like us.

Top notch ! Roast beef was special, i was tempted to get another instead of a dessert. Just wish I had been able to come sooner ! Me and the girlfriend got turned away a few times because she wasn't 25... bit crazy to me that they turn away a 24 yo and a 26 yo couple because they arnt old enough..... aslong as now that we're aloud in I don't start seeing kids running round I don't care 😅

Ate here a couple of times , very good , staff really nice and they pull a great pint of guiness , small seated area out front , brilliant for sipping a pint and people watching on a nice day . Deffo worth a visit if you're in the city , just beside bus station too .

Went to meet some old friends. Sat at the bar chatting and enjoying the live music. However as the night progressed the music became so loud we could not hear each other so decided to move on.

This place was a recommendation when we were chatting to people about visiting Londonderry - and now we know why! The food is superb and the portion sizes are LARGE - we ordered a few 'small' plates to share between 2. Every single plate was absolutely delicious - too delicious to waste despite being full already - we ate 4 hours ago and I'm still full after walking around the city! The staff are all an absolute pleasure, friendly, knowledgeable and informative. The cocktails are excellent. The bar has a lovely feeling to it and the whole atmosphere is really friendly - we got chatting to people from all over. We would return without question and highly recommend to anyone who loves their food and drinkies!

Nice place to have a drink and listen to some really good music. Can be a little bit loud but you can find a spot so you can visit some with friends. Great Irish coffee.

Missed my bus and called in to the Blackbird had a glass of fairly good merlot, as a woman on her own I felt comfortable and safe.

Good Pub with affordable prices compared to the average of places in Northern Ireland

Had the most fabulous meal here on Saturday afternoon. We had travelled down to Derry via train, to indulge in some retail therapy. A few friends had recommended blackbird. We certainly weren’t disappointed. An old style bar/restaurant with all the charm you would expect. Great music, fabulous cocktails and amazing food! All served quickly! Lovely staff! We will be back

4 adults and a child called in for lunch. Friendly staff, great range of draft beers. All agreed our food was tasty with good portions. Toilets clean too. Can’t go wrong.

Me and my partner always call in here when visiting home. One of the best bars with live music and great food. The environment is always welcoming. Theres never any trouble the bouncers and staff are truly amazing and so down to earth.

I entered the bar and asked for a pint of Guinness. The bar man immediately in an abrasive manner asked if I was wearing track suit bottoms. When I protested that I wasn’t and that this was poor customer service I was again abrasively told there was a dress code. Two problems. Without observing what I was actually wearing an assumption was wrongly made because I was wearing a baseball hat and this is a pretentious arrogant discrimatory approach/policy to customers. Won’t be back. The Guinness was poor and badly poured btw.

Busy, well liked pub. Good range of beers and some nice cocktails at a good price point. No seats available when we went, so sat at the bar which was equally as nice.

Blackbird is a lovely restaurant in Derry, the staff are very helpful and attentive, and the food and beer are wonderful. If you want to be well fed and watered this is the restaurant for you.

The food was excellent! I had beer battered fish and chips with a side salad. The fish was fresh and the batter perfectly crispy- possibly the best I’ve had.

The band playing were much too Lound, it was impossible to talk.

Popped in here on the spur (having walked the walls) and thoroughly enjoyed everything about the place. I only ordered some chilli wings and bang bang prawns (washed down with a couple of pints of Guinness) so I'll have to return one day to see what else is on offer.

Great variety of drinks. The service was amazing and Colm was great. Excellent old fashioned, one of the best I've ever had. If you're in Derry I would recommend stopping here.

We arrived in Londonderry during our tour through Ireland. Looking for a place to eat we end up at Blackbird. Delicious food in a cozy pub. Surprising dishes, it was really enjoyable. After our meal we enjoyed live music.

Our first visit to Derry and needed to catch a bus, so Blackbird was situated perfectly. Prompt, polite service, and a comfortable bar with a friendly atmosphere. I'd thoroughly recommend it. NB Review based on a Friday visit, 4pm-ish.

We made the wrong choice in deciding to eat here. The ratio of batter to fish on my dish was 5 to 1 and the chef completely ignored our request for sauce “on the side” for the meat dish.

Food was really tasty, substantial, fresh and all round delicious! The service was spot on...we didn't have to wait long and the staff were very friendly and attentive, without being in your face!! Lastly, the price was totally reasonable...we'd have definitely paid more...High five for the Blackbird, Derry!

Stumbled upon this bar on a recent trip to Derry. The cocktails were really nice and there was live music

About ten minutes before we walked in the door of this place we’d never heard of it. We were in the Tower museum to see Derry Girls, the history of Derry from 10,000 years ago and an Armada exhibition on a self guided tour. We had just left a self guided tour of the Guildhall where we had the pleasure of seeing John Hume’s Nobel prize medal. It struck me that I knew and had met two Nobel laureates; Hume I’d met quite a few times over the years and Seamus Heaney too, our Nobel poet. You think of Nobel winners as remote, removed, far away folks - only in Ireland would you find one (as I did) arguing about luggage weight over-charging with a Ryanair check-in worker. Anyway back to our tours; it was a Sunday mid morning and we were talking to staff about not having lunch plans and they suggested here. They gave us directions. There was live music when we went in and the place was packed. Not a seat to be had. The barman suggested if someone left to grab the seat. I spied a couple eating lunch in a seated area that would easily hold four so I asked if they minded if we joined them and being Derry folk they were delighted with our company. So my wife plumped for a salmon lunch with mash and vegetables (£16.5) and I had the red Thai vegetable curry with rice a mini Nan bread and as I had a side choice it was tobacco onions (£13). All the food was very good and good VFM. It was real cosy warn the staff were so friendly and we got in like a house on fire with our new friends. We had two main meals with one side dish. We ordered two cappuccinos we bought drinks to say thank you to our new friends (4 drinks with one non alcohol) all in all including a tip I still had change out of £50.

Usually pop in for a pint if I have a long wait for a bus. Staff are always lovely and have excellent banter!! First time I’ve actually ordered food and I’m glad I did, the Steak ciabatta was mouth-wateringly delicious!! Garlic potato’s as a side went perfectly!! Will definitely be eating here again!!

Took the family here for dinner and were not disappointed. Landed just before 8pm but thwy took us in regardless (kitchen closed at 8). Staff very friendly and very courteous. Food was really good and not too pricey. 👍

Called into this bar for lunch and drinks with 7 people ( on a Sat). Have been many times before and we always like to return. John greeted us and got us a large table and sorted us out with lunch quickly which was lovely and helped one of our party who had special dietary requirements. We had good banter with John and we stayed most of the afternoon as there was live music from 3.30. All the staff were very friendly and we’ll definitely return again soon. Thanks John

This place was so good! Exceeded expectations! I choose it because it’s next door to the bus depo but both food and service was excellent. I had the Thai fish cakes and side Caesar salad with a local pint. Highly recommend!

Great place for lunch Nd a drink

This was recommended by our friends. I can honestly say it ones was of the nicest pub meals I've ever had, an I've at in a lot of pubs. Ha ha. The peppercorn sauce was a particular treat. But both me and my partners food and shared dessert was delicious. Wine was nice too and all very reasonably priced.

Excellent Sunday roast. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Both had roast lamb ( well done) - really worth the money. Meat, veg and Yorkshire cooked superbly. Would definitely recommend. Booked for next Halloween and this place is top of the list!

This bar is well located close to public transport. So it's a perfect address while waiting for your next bus! Fast service, classic but controlled food, very generous portions. Special mention for the curry which is an excellent choice for those who want a change from the classic burger or fish&chips. Nothing to complain about, prices a little high, but relatively standard for Derry.

Really nice cosy pub that serves food with excellent service

Staff were alright, the bouncers were very disrespectful, especially towards men, it felt like every 10 minutes, they had something new to basically get us to leave despite us all being over 21 and the amount of money we spent in the place, it was just felt wrong to say that you had to be 18+ and then it went to 21+ to again 23+ after 6PM as the bar staff were explainingthay its 18+ after 7PM, they obviously were not doing their job correctly, besides the atmosphere was alright but nothing special, it seemed like a cosy enough place but again the staff just let my m8s and I all down, we would definitely come back knowing that the staff there are doing their jobs right and the bouncers are obeying the rules properly.

Great food and great atmosphere

We were on a tour and had limited time to spend in Derry. Since we were there on a Sunday, several restaurants were closed or opening later in the day. Thank goodness we found this restaurant. We just had time to order a bowl of vegetable soup before we had to leave. The server was very accommodating, and the soup was delicious. The restaurant is large and very nice. As we waited for the soup, we looked at their menu and it looked fabulous, with several good selections. I would recommend giving this restaurant a try.

Blackbird is a fantastic bar, loafs of different age groups. Food was really lovely, service is fantastic.

We arrived in Derry and my wife and I were very hungry. As the tour bus pulled into town we past the Blackbird and we went there immediately. The inside of the pub is beautiful. Our server was prompt and very attentive. Our drinks (mine was an Old Fashion) were great. My wife order a curry chicken dish and I order Louisiana Chicken. Both were excellent and the sauce on the Louisiana Chicken was amazing.

Great atmosphere live music very friendly staff

On holiday. Really liked it here. The salt and chilli chicken was great, though I'm not the greatest fan of heat, it cleared the sinuses alright. My partner's burger was brilliant. Looks like a good selection of beers (I checked Untappd during my meal and saw things I should have asked for, that's my mistake). Big thumbs up.
