Natalie & Charncey were very helpful in helping arrange Mum’s wake. It was an ideal location, with lovely views over the Herefordshire countryside to Wales. The buffet was well laid out with lots of space. It has been redecorated which makes it an inviting & comfortable café.

We popped in while in Hanbury on the Hill at lunchtime, mid week, we wanted to sus the place out for an evening meal while holidaying in the area. We sat in the middle bar, the fire was roaring, and there was good humour from the punters in there. We felt very welcome. The staff were absolutely lovely, which made it a very relaxed atmosphere. Before leaving, we took a look at the restaurant, it was so inviting that we decided to book in for the following evening. Fast forward to Thursday evening, on arrival, we were welcomed by Saf, despite it being a very new menu, she was very well versed and helped to direct us to our final decision. The food was spot on, I chose the Black Bean and Aubergine Tagine, my wife chose the Fish and Chips, great sized portions, hot, high class, and tasty food. DRINKS: I had the Timothy Taylor Landlord, a great drink, well kept. Wifey had a Pinot Grigio. We cannot wait to visit again very soon and in the future with family. Thank you to Saf and the other staff. Dave and Jill

Outstanding. We were travelling from Watford to mid Wales and needed lunch. The staff were very apologetic as it was a public holiday weekend and they were short-staffed, but we really couldn't fault them. The service was given with a wonderful smile by all, too. The food was superb. We shall try to make it a stop in future.

The Merchants Inn is one of the best pubs in Rugby it has multiple real ales and ciders kept to a very high standard, a selection of craft beers and Belgium beers plus a great selection of low and no alcohol beers, gins and wine. The Merchants is an education. It is very much a “wet” pub so limited food options at times but often food vans are invited to park up or local restaurants do “pop ups” in the pub. This is a destination pub, those in the campaign for real ale (CAMRA) travel specifically to the Merchants, an 18 minute walk or short taxi ride from Rugby Train Station. As voted the best pub in the UK to watch the game of Rugby on match days it is packed. The demographics are amazing, young and old, male and female, a friendly place where all can enjoy a drink or two or three !

Why am I here, yet again, picking over a meagre lunch at an extortionate price. Had a vegan houmous wrap with salad and fries. Fries were okay! Salad tiny without dressing. The wrap was the smallest I've ever had. I could not taste the tiny spread of houmous for the vegan cheese (it was not on the menu as a cheese wrap) and the carrot was non existent. The service at the till was very unfriendly and I had a pointed comment when I got the table number wrong. For some reason I keep thinking this place will be better on my next visit but it never is. I will not be eating there again and would definitely not recommend it.

Went into the pub after work on the way turned out food had stopped at 8 so I couldn't have any not far from closing time a lad went to walk out and the landlord stopped him and started shouted and call all sorts of name and he banned him. The lad asked why and the landlord wouldn’t tell him kept telling him to leave even though that’s what it looked like he was trying to do 🤦♂️

I booked the restaurant based on location (I was taking my mother out for Sunday dinner and she lives in Rugby) the fact they’re dog friendly and reviews. I’ve got to say the whole experience was great. I’ve no negative comments to make, nor any suggestions on what they could do better. The quality of the food was excellent and it was great value for money!! The service was also great.

Wot's cooking is a great place to sit in and get a nice fish and chips. Located in the heart of oswestry. It's located near a post office and even a betting shop, it has plenty around it. The staff are friendly and they are really generous with portions. What's cooking deserves to be on a seaside location really, but it serves well in oswestry. It's cozy in there too, there's been a few times where I've had a meal sitting in there as its been raining outside. So if your in oswestry and fancy some food, get yourself some chips from wot's cooking and enjoy their service!

We stayed at the hotel and booked the restaurant without much thought, given the location was perfect after a day of travel. The menu, as, seemingly, with all of Stratford, is heavily plagued with green oil and saffron sauce for the fish. On a separate point, I would centralise the menu, as I never quite understood the mix of pub classics with much more refined offerings. The starters should have been fairly tame, but honestly, tomatoes for £8 and a disturbing crab tartlet that texturally and aroma-wise presented itself as cat food, both with the green oil, were not the best beginning. For the mains, I went for the fish and chips (£19), which ended up being the highlight (store-bought tartar sauce notwithstanding) and my partner went for the hake with the saffron sauce. To be honest, by the speed with which our waiter replaced the hake, I'm guessing the original dish was grabbed off the pass without checking as I thought the fish tasted stale at best. On a side note, seems the bar is not fully stocked at the moment, as all the wine that we wanted initially was not available. The lovely maitre d suggested something very drinkable instead. Overall, having now read previous reviews (oh, the naiveté of youth), it seems the restaurant was never a strong point of this hotel and I implore the new management to improve this as fast as they can.

Fairly straightforward to order online via the QR code, but this can take a while. The deal for 4 people was decent value. Quality and freshness of items at the salad bar is always hit and miss. Disappointing that we had ordered and paid for a specific side, only to be told by staff afterwards that they didn’t have any, so we had to order an alternative product instead. The food arrived promptly, it was tasty and fresh. There were issues with the ice cream factory - staff tried to fix this but the machine took time before it worked properly again, which impacted on our desserts as we weren’t able to eat them together (other family members had hot desserts at the table served with ice cream, so those had to be eaten at the time of serving).
