The Peacock in Shropshire

Return visit , once again a faultless meal. I had the fillet steak which was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth and my partner had the Reuben special which he said was equally delicious. Our new special occasion hot spot.

Jean and the team looked after my family who were holding a wake to mark my parent’s passing at their local pub. The buffet lunch was absolutely excellent, staff very attentive and ensured we were well catered for at all times. Thank you

Disappointing service and poor food . Drinks order was taken quickly but service went down hill from there. Starters took 30minutes and one dish was wrong. We then waited another 30minutes for plates to be cleared and another 30minutes for our main course. Not checked on and no drink service - no apology when we went to the bar to order drinks and ask about our mains. The roast beef was very fatty and the roast lamb was tough. We were never checked on and plates again were not cleared. We eventually gave up and went to the bar to ask for the bill. Won’t be returning.

I’ve must of driven past the Peacock Inn a hundred times over the years and always said, “That looks a nice place, we must try there.” Well now thankfully I have and I’m glad I did. It’s a pretty 14th Century Inn, serving honest well cooked food. I opted for the fillet steak with green pepper corn sauce. It was cooked to perfection, and accompanied by a great selection of vegetables, dauphinoise potatoes and Provençale tomatoes. It’s certainly one of the tastiest steak meals I’ve had in a long time, and I would highly recommend you try it. All the staff were welcoming and professional. Complements to the chef & thanks for the warm a friendly hospitality, we will definitely be back!

Myself , mother in law and wife came here for a sunday lunch . The food was absolutely too perfection and the service was was immaculate especially by a young waitress called summer , she really made our experience

We booked for Father’s Day. The staff were friendly and attentive. The Sunday lunch was delicious, with a good choice of options. All cooked to perfection. We would highly recommend and will return very soon.

I like the ambience of an olde style pub like this. We were greeted immediately with option of 2 tables, and seated. A waitress came over within a couple of minutes to take our drinks order, which was fulfilled fairly swiftly. About 10 minutes later a waitress came over to just let us know they were busy, and hadnt forgotten us, and came back a further 10 minutes and took our order. I expect it was another 20 before our dinner arrived. The food was lovely and plenty of it. If you go in with a requirement of service as quick as a fast food restaurant, then go elsewhere, if you like to take your time, here is fine.

We arrived at 5.15 pm on a Wednesday evening. We had to wait for a member of staff to greet us for 3 or 4 mins, our drinks order came quickly then we had another wait for our order to be taken, the food was cooked to order and was delicious. Didn’t see a staff member until we had finished our main course for quite a while. 2 courses and nearly 2 hours later we left. Another diner came in at 6.45 pm. We were the only ones in the restaurant. I’m sure they would get more customers if they revamped the outside (cut down plants covering the windows for instance) and restaurant a little and advertised, the food quality would ensure more customers. I would certainly recommend the food

Great steaks, my wife had fillet and I had a sirloin, best ever that we’ve had . A bit surprised that we were the only ones eating in the restaurant part of the pub, we were in early evening. Dauphinoise potatoes like we’ve never had before

We had a fantastic Sunday lunch here in October last year whilst holidaying in the area. Having booked another holiday at the same place I emailed to book a table for 14th April. Another great Sunday lunch and staff again very friendly and helpful. We both had the lamb and it was cooked to perfection, so tender and juicy. Nice selection of roast vegetables and lovely Yorkshire puddings. Without wishing to be pedantic, the broccoli could have done with cooking a bit longer but that was the only minor niggle as everything was otherwise perfect. Hopefully, we will be holidaying in the area in the future and will definitely return for anther great Sunday lunch. Thank you.

Lovely cosy dinner with friends at the Peacock last night. The food was delicious and the menu was interesting with loads of choice. Our meals were perfect, well cooked, beautifully presented and the cheerful young server made us feel very welcome. We will definitely be going back again soon, highly recommended.

During a weeks family holiday in Shropshire we ate out several times, always looking at places with decent vegetarian options. The Peacock, was the stand out restaurant with good friendly service, decent choice of wines and excellent food. Hope to return to Shropshire and The Peacock before too long

Beautiful accomodation and first class breakfast ... we stayed over last night. Warm luxurious four poster accomodation. Easy parking. Fresh coffee in bedrooms. Breakfast the best I've had in ages Fresh raspberries mango. Egg on toast made with great care. Loved it

Wow what a find! Driven past many a time but was planning on going to the cinema so asked if they could do a early meal. Staff were very friendly and aware of our time schedule. We were amazed at how fantastic the food was and even more so for the price. I'm still thinking now, how the chef cooked my meal as the taste was delicious. I can't believe I haven't been before. My boyfriend had the monkfish special and I had the salmon and haddock en croute. The mushroom soup to start was also wonderful. My boyfriend had the goats cheese (as pregnant I sadly couldn't have this, but again it looked and smelt delicious) Presentation was beautiful. Even the tartar sauce seemed homemade and very complimentary. This is our new favour place to eat. Recently we have struggled to find a place that does delicious meals of a good size, with added value for money. This place ticks all boxes. Our cinema movie was cancelled so we came back and had another drink. Staff again were very friendly and welcoming. We didn't take photos but the food sticks in our memories.

We booked the festive menu, which was excellent value, with a good choice on the menu. Cosy, relaxing vibe, with friendly staff. Portions were generous so 2 of our party struggled with 3 courses. Only negative, service was a little slow due to lack of staff, however the staff who were working were friendly and helpful, so overall a great experience. We would recommend.

Stayed at The Peacock Inn for two nights to attend a wedding in the local area. The room was spectacular, it resembled an old Manor House and was complete with beams and a four poster bed. Breakfast was included which was cooked to order, there was plenty to choose from including fresh fruit and cereal. The owner was amazing and actually dropped us off and picked us up from the wedding venue. That is the kind of service you don't experience anymore. We also stayed for dinner which was delicious. Everyone was so friendly and couldn't do enough. I thoroughly recommend it without hesitation.

Took my wife for Sunday lunch at the Peacock . It was great food, good portions and we were well looked after by the staff. We had starters, the roast beef for me and lamb for my good lady. The meat was cooked to perfection , And We finished with deserts. Best of all was the bill, certainly less than I thought so great value for money.

A fabulous evening out with the family for my husband's 60th. Extremely competent, polite and friendly staff. Food was delicious - everyone commented on their respective dishes, Portions generous. Delicious food! Sirloin cooked to perfection and the beef bourguignon was full of flavour so hats off the the chef. Staff were really friendly however service was so slow on both visits to the point it put us off ordering other courses.

We booked a holiday not far from The Peacock and I emailed them a few weeks beforehand to request a Sunday lunch 1300 booking slot for my wife and I for our wedding anniversary on 8/10/23 . We received a quick response and they were very helpful by asking us if 1245 would be okay as they had a party coming in and it might be better to go slightly earlier. This was fine with us and the booking was completed. We both had the lamb Sunday roast and it was fantastic. The meat was very tender and tasty, the veg was cooked just how we like it and the chef definitely knows how to make a proper Yorkshire Pudding, too !! Sadly we didn't have room for a dessert as the portions were very good. We talked with a couple on the next table and they said they were regulars at The Peacock and had been for a long time. Easy to see why they are loyal patrons. We were served by a very friendly and helpful young lady and said we had already booked another holiday for 2024 and we will definitely return. This was an excellent choice to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you and we will be back in April.

We ate here last night as a 4, I booked a table earlier in the week and asked if it could be a little more isolated if possible as 1 of our group had been locked down pretty hard and not been out much. The lovely waitress had given us 2 tables together to give us more space and we were in a quiet corner of the restaurant. Driven past here a handful of times but never thought about stopping, until a local recommended it when we asked for a a nice local pub.The food was beautiful, and the service was incredible, always asking if we were happy, and if we ever asked for more drinks they would be there before we could blink.It’s a cosy place where locals stop by for a friendly hello and a drink, but outsiders (like us) are made to feel welcome and well looked after.I had the beef burger and my partner had the chicken breast - both were wonderful.Would definitely recommend, and would definitely return!!

We found that some additional ingredients elevated the meal above being simply excellent pub food. We had the chilli Calamari to start which was delicious. We had Chicken with a creamy wild mushroom sauce which was full of flavour and an excellent rib-eye steak. The side salad was not just the usual ingredients, but besides various leaves such as baby spinach had microgreens, olives and a lovely oil and balsamic dressing.

Dined at the Peacock Inn to take advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. Having eaten at the Peacock before, I was pleased to see the same quality and quantity in all the dishes. Lovely, safe atmosphere. Will definitely be returning in September, especially as they are continuing to help the community with carrying on their own eat out to help out scheme.

Brilliant service from friendly staff in a comfortable environment. The food was excellent. The smoked salmon, beetroot tart and rib-eye steak were particularly good. Highly recommended.

We called last minute to see if they had space for us, we were told we wouldn’t be served until 8:30 but we’re more than welcome to have a drink in the bar which we did- nice selection of gins which is always a bonus! They were true to their word and seated us at 8:30 and we ordered shortly afterwards, the food was lovely (understandably the menu is small at the moment) and my partner said his ribeye was one of the nicest he’s had! Food isn’t overly expensive, atmosphere is nice and staff are friendly, a great little place to stop at!

We ordered a take away during lockdown. The quality was 5*. It was for a birthday meal and the two steaks and one fish dish were plentiful and luxury. Thank you to Harriett and Jean. We can't wait to come back and dine in the restaurant.

Just had an excellent takeaway from the Peacock Inn! The service was remarkable due to the COVID-19 circumstances, social distancing was in place and the lady from the restaurant was very helpful on the phone and in person. Will be ordering again very soon!

We went on a busy Saturday night and still the food was excellent and all staff were friendly and provided us with anything we needed to ensure that we had a great experience. We had three courses and each were tremendous! I highly recommend the steak - always an excellent choice as it is cooked to perfection; especially when followed by an amazing homemade apple tart! We went with friends and had a lovely table by the fire. We didnt have starters as we wanted a desert and needed to ensure we had room! We ordered the Ribeye Steak x3 and a duck. All looked very nicely presented. The menu stated Ribeye steak serve with either mushroom, peppercorn or Stilton sauce. We asked in turn for one of each. Mine being the stilton. When the food came mine was just stilton melted on the top rather than a sauce. As we progressed with our meal all was good except mine. Every bite was chewy to the point that i had to send it back. This was dealt with well and all was replaced with a Duck main instead. We then had various deserts. All looked lovely. However my custard with my apple tart was VERY luke warm and the dish icy cold. When we had the bill were charged for all the mains and the duck being £2 there was no consideration or compensation. Overall Lovely catch up with friends but the meal was very mediocre and not as good as one would be expected.

Lunch at the Peacock follows a comfortable formula, and this usually includes the landlord walking around the tables to say Hello. Today we had perfectly competent service from young waitresses, but it missed the personal touch - as important as a log-burning fire.

We went as a large group of 16+ and each had a faultless meal of quality, great atmosphere, good wine, a highly recommended place to dine.
