The Hippodrome in Shropshire

Always a great place to eat. Cheap but quality food. Nice seating area inside and out, baby high chairs and crayons for little one. Sat outside in the sun. Friendly atmosphere watching the 10k race. We will be back again and have been a few times over the years.

Had Large breakfast which was decent for the price, service was OK

The hippodrome at the moment is the best spoons the manager and staff would be at home working at high class restaurants clean kind and very professional .. tables kept clean and beer kept well.. well done you guys

It's a "spoons". You know what you are getting, decent food at a very reasonable price. Good choice of very competitively priced ales Always find staff friendly and helpful whichever one I go to

Bank Holiday visit to area ...clean establishment , plenty of areas to sit and relax whilst having a drink , didn't have any food but observed plates coming out with appetising fayre on them . If in area would call back again .

No dogs aloud even outside. Had to put them in the car or couldn't order. Even when we suggested that we'd go the other side of the wall. Manager understood frustration though. And when leaving there were other people with dogs that where eating outside

We come here at least once a week for our breakfast, as usual this visit was extremely pleasant, the food and drinks came quickly and was presented to us with a friendly smile from the staff. The Eggs Benedict was gorgeous, lovely Ham and lots of it, Two runny poached eggs, cooked to perfection and lovely Hollandaise Sauce.. well done to all the staff both front and rear of house. We’ll be back!

Visited weatherspoons for lunch, ordered using the app. Drinks arrived promptly the waitress was polite and friendly. When our main meal came out it was missing one pizza, the waitress acknowledged the missing pizza and stated it would be following shorty, we waited for approximately 15 minutes before I felt I needed to ask where the pizza was, I spoke to a different member of staff who was extremely rude and dismissive, I mentioned that the previous waitress had acknowledged that the outstanding pizza would be served shorty when she brought our order, her response was a quite sarcastic ‘course she did’ I was then informed the pizza would need to be made from scratch , no apology received, she made me feel like it was my fault rather than taking responsibility for the clear oversight. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the standards of customer service I would expect from your establishment. From reading other reviews there seems to be a common theme regarding poor customer service which will continue until the problem is addressed!!

it's just what you expect cheap and cheerful

The food here has always been a bit hit and miss ...however... we popped in for a quick bite due to some emergency works having taken the power out at home. A quick meal was supplied in the form of the "worst burger I have ever been served!"! (and I have eaten a lot of burgers) The burger patty appeared to have emerged from some firey pit of hell (and not in a good way) being burnt to a cinder - with some attempt to hide the charcoal mess under cheese and a pickle. I would have complained, but the need to get home, and a general sense of despondency that anyone would consider sending this out of the kitchen to table gripped me, and we left to find alternative sustenance (toast since you ask now as the power is back on!).

This is a great Wetherspoons ... Clean place, hot food and friendly staff.

Only one server on the bar during a busy time, but they were really friendly, efficient and appreciated people waiting. Panini and chips were bad value, no salad and only about 8/10 chips. Scampi and chips were much better value and good quality. Overall a nice Wetherspoon's set in an old theatre.

Me and my mates were having an amazing time at weather spoons, when we decided to order another drink, the money had left my account and we hadn’t received our drinks for a good 20 minutes, I went up to the bar and asked if they had had our drinks conformation and the manger at Drayton weather spoons ( Vicki Dixon) decided that it hadn’t, she continued to belittled us, we corporated by saying we are more than welcome to come back and pay for these drinks if they hadn’t come out of my bank then she walked off swearing saying “ I will get them there f**cking drinks” she did get us our drinks but decided not to put any alcohol in them ( which we paid for), she then continued to stare at us the whole night which made us feel very uncomfortable,

The staff are friendly, the food is good and the atmosphere is good. I ordered the 8oz sirloin steak and it was cooked to perfection. The interior of this former cinema is a masterpiece of Art Deco. I highly recommend a visit.

Went into The Hippodrome with my friends/family. My cousin ordered a vodka lemonade to where a staff member brang it over and asked for ID. My cousin did not have it on her at the time which wasn’t the issue but the staff member was really rude and cocky about it. My cousin asked to swap the drink as she did paid for it. The member of staff then brang the replacement drink over while still continuing to be rude and cocky about it.

Really nice and cosy feel to a lovely little gem

Had to have my mug changed as it was dirty but apart from that, the restaurant was clean, it's easy to order, plenty of seating, great prices and good grub. Food came really quickly and staff are helpful and friendly.

Great visit here, prices are incredible.

Work going on at the moment so no food and the app isn't working. Miraculously, you can get served pretty quickly now as they are not prioritising the app orders, so are serving the bar much quicker. It has the longest bar in Drayton, and also the longest wait!!

Cold place, pizzas were cold in middle. Staff were unfriendly

A beautiful property built in 1927 as the Hippodrome cinema, now a Wetherspoon pub. Situated in the centre of Market Drayton. Good food and drinks. Fast friendly service. Clean and tidy. Outdoor seating too.

Only spoons I know where the toilets are not up several flights of stairs, friendly staff

Good quality value meals with good service

Better than your usual 'spoons pub. Food was good, arrived fast and quality sized portions. Easy going atmosphere and good for a quick pint or two. Today, duty manager Tony did an amazing job and needs a special mention and thanks. His professional attitude was good to see.

Disappointed lovely pub but not enough staff on Tablets dirty and packed with cups and dishes. Only one staff member at the counter to take orders when pub is to busy .

They didn't have the new food I wanted which was advertised over all the tables so I ordered something else and it was 10/10 tasting and speed of coming out, drinks were great too at a good price.

Another decent wetherspoons. Right across from the bus park/station.At the edge of a lovely market town. Good food and drink at great prices. We'll definitely go here again.

As with all JD Wetherspoons en-counted to date, the pub has excellent friendly staff with good service, a cost effective menu and drink choice. In this instance I would like to say how honest and helpful the staff there were, especially when we inadvertently left valuables on the back of one of the chairs there. The staff went out of their way to assist in their return. Many thanks.

Our local, always so efficient. Fantastic food and drink you get what you pay for. Emily was a star on the bar so friendly and chatty fantastic member of the team, serving late on a Saturday night with a smile. Always a pleasure. 💖

Pretty typical Spoons. Onion rings were good and the chips were hot and fresh. Burger was, well, not much. The Pepsi Max was better than the burger!

My friend's chicken wasn't cooked properly so it was sent back and a refund has been issued.

A cloudy, cold, damp Monday in Shropshire and happy for it! We wandered around the shops, the charity shops and then it was lunch time and into The Hippodrome we did go. Quiet, not busy, lots of seating to choose from. Ordered drinks at the bar and then selected 3 items from the "3 for..." selection. Chicken Wings are SO good! Chips hot, crispy and delicious. The Pizza? Underdone, mushy crust...wanted hubby to send it back but he just carried on and ate the bits that he could. Not an outstanding meal at a Wetherspoons but it suited our needs for the day. Wetherspoons is in the midst of lots of special deals and you just can't beat the prices.

Popped into The Hippodrome market drayton with my girlfriend haven't been in there for years I had a pint of shipyard netty had a glass of wine the food looked nice coming out of the kitchen had a chat with some old friends service was good atmosphere lovely went to witherspoons in market drayton for a couple of drinks with my girlfriend you can't beat witherspoons for value for money the staff were lovely and friendly

We ate here as there wasn't much choice the evening we arrived here. We had two tikkas and a child's pizza. It was all as expected. The food arrived quickly. We'd happily eat here again.

Very hit and miss. Lunchtime is very good, evening not so. Too busy for the staff.

Ordered mixed grill and it was the worse one ever had. All meat overcooked and hard. Couldn't tell what was which type, ie lamb, pork loin etc. All meats cut very thin. Would not order this again

Bulk standard Wetherspoons. Nice building and good town centre location. Always a good selection of well priced beers. Food looked nice but didn't eat ourselves. Will go back and try the food.

Don't get me wrong ,the food was good a part from the pizza .. Had to send them back twice due to them been heavily burnt and on the 3rd time they said this is the best we can do .. Still burnt but a little better.. On the other hand my Chicken tikka masala was bang on 😎.

Absolutely great local Wetherspoons , however really needs a update or a good clean . Can't knock the staff they are great .

Came in for the euros final - took multiple people asking the manager to turn the TV on so we could watch the build up, he initially kept refusing amd said he'd put it on just before the match started. I ordered on the app, added a charity donation for a care bears pin badge as advertised on the app. Went to the till to collect it and while I was waiting two women were serving drinks and talking - "some idiot ordered a charity pin badge on the app" and laughing about it. I interrupted and asked if they had them, to which they suddenly changed their tune and said no they discontinued them over a week ago but I could find them in other shops or pubs. Food came, my burger was missing bits stated on the menu but it was fine otherwise.

A good wetherspoons, plenty of space and kept tidy. Have gone many times after sporting events with the team, always able to find a table and serve everyone.

Called in Wetherspoons. Market Drayton Saturday morning for breakfast ordered at 1017 food came at 1112 overcooked half pieces of bacon and everything freezing. Asked for my money back and left. Went to Shepleys butchers got 4 breakfast sausages 4 pieces of back bacon £5. Went home 10 minutes in the air fryer poached egg and beans job done. Tells a story.

We visited at lunchtime and chose from the vast menu selection which included a drink. Prompt service via app ordering and everything was as expected. It was relatively quiet when we were there at the start of the lunchtime period but I was pleased to see I didn't have to clear and clean the table before our food arrived.

This was our second visit for refreshments as we returned home from the Midlands. On both occasions outside was very busy but relatively quiet inside. Easy to get served at the bar (no need to use App) and all drinks to the expected standard at the usual reasonable Wetherspoon prices.

Used to be an acceptable Wetherspoons but standards have slipped. Tables not cleaned and glasses left on table. Rude staff tried to tell me how a Leffe should be served. Will not be returning.

Lovely atmosphere, much bigger than expected but split into sections for more privacy

How ridiculous. So you can understand not allowing dogs in a pub especially if they serve a lot of food but we were turned away from using the outside area at the front of the pub because we had dogs. They stupidly suggested that we sat close to the wall and either made our dogs sit on the wall or on the public footpath on the other side of the wall. I don't think I've ever been turned away from using an outside area before. Have a rethink Witherspoons!

I Had the American breakfast and it was terrible pancakes were hard ! Eggs hard sausages cold plate cold but the hash browns were ok

Been a few times in the evening and it’s everything you expect and with a good service. Three of us went on Saturday morning for breakfast - not impressed. Couldn’t order an ‘All day brunch’ at 11 am. No explanation or apology. Ordered a big breakfast that didn’t come with advertised mushrooms. Again, no explanation or apology. Even when I asked the person collecting the plate - nothing.

Great interior space. Vast area, warm, great choice of colours and wall displays. Friendly, hard working staff. Just the best all day brunch of any Wetherspoons I have ever been in. Ground floor toilets was a bonus, instead of the usual route march up stairs. All in all 10 out of 10

It's a spoons so everything is adequate to have a decent visit. The beer range is small here, but usually well kept and as a venue for a quick bite to eat, it's quick and decent quality. It can be a bit variable at times, with pizza 'extra toppings seemingly dependent on what they have available.

I was in Market Drayton a month ago and had a good meal here with really good service. At the time it was very quiet and the staff had very little to do. On my return I ordered the same food a mixed grill. This time the chips were stone cold the meat was extremely dry and like cardboard. The only good thing about the meal was the sausage the rest was rubbish. Even the onion rings were under cooked. Lots of dirty tables and poor customer service. I’m sure they don’t care and don’t read these reviews but it’s the only place in town to get a meal after 9pm.

If I'm comparing to other chains I'm probably going 1-2 stars, but it's a Spoons, so I will rate this placed based on other Spoons in nearby towns. This place is straight down the middle, not the busiest, not the quietest, food is average, which is expected, but it's not expensive so it's on value, it's kept relatively clean and tidy too, some Spoons are simply disgusting, this one is ok. Service seems fine, I use the app so other than food hitting the table there's not much to go on. Doesn't have its own parking, but really isn't far from car parks, 2 or 3 minutes walks from either direction.

Great place to pop in for a pint after work and the prices are outstanding to. Fine for a cheap night out

Lovely place, nice atmosphere and lovely fireplace. Toilet: gent bogs is all clogged up and couldn't use it but other then that it cleanish.

An excellent pub, with great food and a great range of drinks etc. Very reasonably priced too, with great customer service and a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere / décor. I visited with my family, who are also big fans of this pub! Thank-you. :)

Good place to get food at a good price .

This place is always full and the experience is always patchy. Today was especially bad. We ordered the all day brunch and a medium rare steak. The brunch was missing a sausage and bacon so I went to the bar to ask. Despite being told twice and even asking to confirm, the lad still only brought out the sausage not bacon. Then the steak was awful, a cheap and nasty cut full of sinew and still raw - lukewarm to the touch in places! The only thing I can say was good was the coffee machine. I know, you get what you pay for, but not being funny, we didn't even get that!

Staff is ok the food well not to good but you only get what you pay for. I don't think I will go back but try it and see what you think

Had a mixed grill - good with baked potatoes. Service excellent. Definitely value for money. 4 years later, we visited again. ❤️ still value for money, good service and wholesome food. Excellent choice of beers.

This place is heaving on evenings and it's nice to go on the afternoon as well when it's quieter. The food is cheap but is always hot. You get what you pay for but the meals aren't bad given how cheap it is. Drinks are cheap as well. Good choice of meals including vegetarian. A lovely building full of character. Nice to see a pub that is still thriving.

The food is disgusting, have had a few things on the menu for the past few day. Not my choice to come back ,I'm with my grandparents. I've been to alto of weatherspoons and I have to say this is worse than the Wilfred Owen in Oswestry. The cutlery isn't clean and the food is 🤢 the staff are the only good thing about the place!
