Excellent buffet served for a funeral wake. Highly recommended.

We recently booked my father's wake at the peacock.It was easy to arrange the young man who dealt with us was very welcoming and accommodating,on the day everything went smoothly .they even set up our memory table with our precious pictures which we planned to do ourselves,and the food was just perfect, we chose their silver buffet,would highly recommend to anybody needing a wake venue.

I was there for a funeral tea. Extremely good service.

Ridiculous, far too expensive, SERIOUSLY DO NOT BOTHER !!!! not a good experience, staff are arrogant !! looked at the menu and that is too expensive for what we saw, HONESTLY DO NOT GO !!

We were so lucky to have been recommended by a friend, to have my father’s funeral wake at the Peacock Inn. We initially called in to enquire in person. A lovely gentleman behind the bar gave us details about the various buffets available, showed us the two different areas in the pub that we could choose to have the buffet, and checked the diary to see if the date we required the funeral wake was available. It was, so we were pencilled in for that date. We were told that Jane, the landlady, would contact us by telephone later that day, which she did. Jane suggested that we meet with her at the pub so that we could finalise the arrangements with her in person. Which made us feel cared about. We were so glad that we did. Jane was very understanding, professional and cared that everything was to our satisfaction. As we had a few guests with various dietary requirements we discussed these with her. She suggested some alternative foods that would make the buffet work for everyone which were absolutely brilliant, and left us feeling that we had absolutely nothing to worry about. On the day of the funeral wake we arrived at the Peacock Inn to be greeted by lovely staff. Everything was clean and tidy and prepared for our arrival. The table for tea and coffee was all set up and ready to go. The nice touch was that shortly after we had arrived the freshly prepared food was arranged on the buffet table. This meant that the wide selection of sandwiches made with either brown or white bread were so fresh, sausage rolls, cheesy rolls and quiches were lovely and warm. Crisps were crisp! The food was of high quality, obviously home made and sandwich fillings were delicious. The quiches, sausage rolls and cheesy rolls were well commented on by guests as being really tasty. The whole occasion was enjoyed by all and it was lovely to be asked if everything was to our liking. Which it was. Thank you to Jane and everyone at the Peacock for your great care and attention, we really appreciated it.

Unless you want to be shouted at by an aggressive man from the kitchen who hates the sound of children’s laughter; I implore you not to take your children here.

Walked in on Sunday , we had been let down by another venue that we had booked, we were acknowledged straight away, ordered drinks, picked our table and ordered food, starters came within 30 minutes, mains took a bit longer but is was well cooked with plenty of veg and very nice beef and turkey. customer service was excellent from the bar staff to the waiting staff . Would Highly recommend.

Lovely place to stop on a cold afternoon, only knocked atmosphere to 4 because it was a funeral tea! But still it was good to catch up with old friends. Place seems well managed with efficient obliging staff.

We had been to our mums funeral, and chose a private intimate gathering, away from others that had organised a big wake. We chose perfectly. Would recommend to anyone. Plenty of room. Vast menu

Went here for new years eve drinks with the wife and 2 others wow what can I say friendly place grrat atmosphere band and disco and food all free this will now become our local thank you to al the hard working staff for making it a memorable night

Has themed night`s , like wednesday is curry night and friday a scoff Pizza night , aswell as Thursday being a Quiz night . It`s also my LOCAL .

This was our 2nd year having our Zumba ladies Christmas Dinner here and we had party of over 30 and service food and staff were excellent plus really good value for money. Already booked again for 2025 .

5☆ all round, lovely welcoming atmosphere, myself & my 2 best friends went for lunch on 22nd Nov, we pre booked, which we were glad we did as they were busy, all the staff are lovely & polite, when the food came we were amazed by how quick the meal came & it was delicious, good portion size too, I had the doner meat on a flat bread with fries, it was so good, I couldn't eat it all, so the kind lady wrapped the rest up for me to take home, as I wasn't wasting it, it was too good not to take home, the desserts were really good too, we had such a lovely time, we will definitely be back, thank you so much for a lovely lunch, we highly recommend the Peacock for lovely food & atmosphere & the friendly staff.

Friendly service, delicious food and relaxed atmosphere... we popped by for lunch on a Saturday drive out and this did not disappoint! The mixed grill was a big hit!

First visit to the peacock sadly for a wake for our friends funeral. The bar staff/managers were very welcoming on our arrival. The pub had a lovely homely welcome feel. Amazing food and stuff. This is our go too place for food. Monty behind the bar is good at what he does. He always had a good conversation with my daughter when we come. Food is good, good portions too, nothing is abother to any staff member. The beef lasagne is stunning and I've tried a few in differnt places and this one beats them all

Me and my family visited the peacock for an after funeral wake for our farther, from start to finish Jane could not of been more helpful and caring with us as a family! The food was amazing and was beautifully presented! The staff were brilliant and Jane even took the time to come and make sure everything was okay with us all! We just want to say as a family a massive thank you to the wonderful Jane and her team for all the hard work she put in for us and we will return when we are in the area again for sure! Thank you ! I came here yesterday to book a funeral buffet for my late partner. They told me ‘Jane’ wasn’t available but took my phone number and said she’d call me. She didn’t call. However as I was in the area again today, I called in to ask if she forgotten me. I was assured she was upstairs and would be down shortly to talk to me. I ordered a jacket potato and a drink and waited…and waited…and waited. After an hour I was told that she’d had to go out and see her mum. Surely she could have told me that at the beginning. I have never been so rudely treated. The guys behind the bar were obviously embarrassed. Whoever Jane is…I can say she is the rudest most pig ignorant person I have ever had misfortune not to meet. I suppose it’s a good thing I never booked the wake….we’d have probably turned up to nothing. Steer clear of this place. I don’t know if she owns it or just runs it….but her attitude stinks!

Went too bar for drinks and same drinks had gone up 45mins later from £8.30 too £9.50 rip off people. Yes I did say too the member of staff that served me!!!!!

Always been a top pub - laid back and easy atmosphere

The Peacock is an amazing welcoming pub for a good pub meal, a few drinks, or to watch the sport. As both a customer and former employee, I can say Andy, Jane, Nathan and Dan and the rest of the Team are an amazing and dedicated team who really care about their costumers. It feels like family whenever coming here, plus the burgers are great!

Lovely food Lovely pleasant and helpful staff, who are very attentive and welcoming. I have been coming to this pub for 18 years and never had a bad meal. I would really reccomend it. I feel part of the family.

I cannot fault the bar staff (Monty, Nathan, Dan and others) in how quickly you get served and how attentive and friendly they all are. It makes such a difference. Andy and Jane are super landlords, as they are very accommodating and very much look after their customers. I have been attending the weekly quiz for 18 years, which is a great night out. (I totally recommend on a Thursday). Often we have meals to celebrate our birthdays and Christmas and it is very good. Excellent service and value for money. There is such a community spirit. It's a 10 from me.👍

The food was lovely, it was a busy night but we didn't have to wait long. I go here mainly for the pub quiz on a Thursday night, work permitting. The staff are all really friendly whether your a regular or not & the landlord, Andy, who does the pub quiz is a right laugh, part quiz show host, pary entainer who gets everyone involved. Highly recommended.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you for helping me feel so relaxed! I brought my son who is autistic for lunch (first time in public) owners and all staff were very accommodating and supportive! This place has a lovely warm atmosphere and I felt like part of a family! We were very happy and will definitely be coming again soon!! Thanks again guys

Don't bother! Kitchen equipment was clearly unclean with dirty and overcooked food being sent out, when attempted to compliant to a member of staff she walked off! Waste of money!

Called in here for a burger. What a disappointment. Not as good as last time we came in 2023. Burger was dry and unappetising. Plates are enamel pie dishes. Don't think we will come again.

An excellent menu with plenty of choice. The food came very quickly after ordering, piping hot and on hot plates. As I have a milk allergy it was nice to see I had a choice of 2 desserts I chose the apple crumble with ice cream. Very tasty . Highly recommended

Went here for a funeral wake and my mum had to take her little dog so it wasn't left on his own for any longer than he needed to be. Sadly we were told that we couldn't stay in the bar but had to go up to the wooden floor area because of the dog. This meant that not only were we separated from the wake but also made to sit with people eating lunch as it seems that this was the eating area as well as the dog area 🤷 made no sense at all. Basically we had to drink our drinks as quickly as we could and leave. We obviously should have checked first but what pub doesn't allow dogs in the bar?

The food is extremely well priced. Our party of 6 adults and 2 children ate their entire meals. I have to compliment the serving staff here - the kind of service you get is exceptional, better than some high-priced restaurants/hotels. Thank you for taking such good care of us AGAIN!

The staff are always friendly and welcoming. The food is reasonable priced and always delicious. I have visited fpr lunch a few times with my friend, we normally have a jacket potato or baguette, we have never had a bad meal and have always been happy with the service. I would definately recommend.

We had a pleasant experience today, we were welcomed with a roaring real fire. And a chilled atmosphere with great music. The bar tender was pleasant and friendly. We ordered 2 sirloin steaks....1 medium to well done and the other medium rare. However, the medium to well done steak came well done and the medium rare steak came blu certainly mistake I'm sure. I feel that perhaps the kitchen could do with some training in the matter of how to cook steaks to people's liking. We didn't say anything to the staff as we were very hungry and ate our meals anyway. We also felt that the kitchen wouldn't had been too rushed as the bar wasn't really very busy at all...and we have found that in other pubs that steaks aren't always cooked to your liking so we have come to expect this type of mistake. We weren't asked if our meals were alright at any point.

Good food and great for watching football

Had my father's wake there the staff are brilliant the buffet was excellent and it's only 3 minutes from the cemetery.

Sadly, we have had several funerals to attend and they have been absolutely amazing with holding a gathering for each. Thank you for making these tough times easier.
