Wot's cooking is a great place to sit in and get a nice fish and chips. Located in the heart of oswestry. It's located near a post office and even a betting shop, it has plenty around it. The staff are friendly and they are really generous with portions. What's cooking deserves to be on a seaside location really, but it serves well in oswestry. It's cozy in there too, there's been a few times where I've had a meal sitting in there as its been raining outside. So if your in oswestry and fancy some food, get yourself some chips from wot's cooking and enjoy their service!

I always love the food from this chip shop. Have been going for many years. However today 25/7/24 the lady serving was extremely rude. No greeting when I walked to the counter. No thank you from her at all. No service with a smile. If I wasn't so hungry I would have gone somewhere else.

This much liked well known eat-in & take-away shop in Willow street, Oswestry has definitely changed since I was last here many years ago. A quarter-pounder burger, chips and regular black coffee to eat in would have cost just under a tenner so I asked for a takeaway instead! Asked for a small portion of chips, charged for a large portion which frankly was excessive and my burger was on the disappointment scale or less than average. The only saving grace was my black coffee... Such a pity that this once family owned eatery and much loved by Oswestrians is so very disappointingly different nowadays. Wot's Cooking will definitely be given a miss by me in future....

Great to have some nice lunch there, especially on a sunny day, it’s packed. Food is pretty good, decently priced and for the most part, the staff are lovely. That being said, one older woman with quite short hair, was, and still continues to be, very rude. When she is serving, she looks unenthusiastic, miserable and downright bored. I don’t mean to be rude myself, but she was extremely unhelpful. The first time, I was halfway thru checking my bank card to see if I had enough to pay for my order, she hurries me up whilst i’m doing this, and whilst I know I can be blamed for saying “card” before knowing if I had the money or not, she handled the situation terribly. The second time, she again rushed me with my order and couldn’t even bring herself to smile or even seem somewhat enthusiastic. She always just seems to be shaking her head. Safe to say, I really hope she doesn’t serve me again. I have been going here for years and I have seen a few slightly uninterested staff but she goes above and beyond. That being said, the other remaining staff are lovely, they serve me with smiles, enthusiasm and friendliness and as long as they are serving me, I will definitely be coming back here.

My Brother in law always talked about Wots cooking as a good place to eat, long before we tried it. He was right in that it is a good chip shop cafe and takeaway. We have always been served by friendly and attentive staff, who will try their best to look after your requests for strong tea etc! The food is good and plentiful. We had the fish n chips for two deal this visit, and it was really good value. Sometimes I prefer a baked potato instead of chips, and it’s a decent sized spud with plenty of filling. There are other alternatives too but cannot comment as we haven’t tried them. Occasionally we have to come back as seating is limited, but it’s worth it. It is what it is, a lovely cafe attached to a fish n chip shop, no frills, just good simple British food! NB. You could push a wheelchair in but I think it’s unsuitable as there would not be room to sit at the tables unfortunately.

The food was freshly cooked to order, table service by friendly staff. Very clean premises. I had a daily special, Fish, chips and a small pot of mushy peas, also with the meal came a side salad,a sachet of tartare sauce, a pot of tea for one ( I had 2 good cups of tea from it). Due to it being freshly cooked the food was all hot and very tasty, the chips were not greasy, crisp on the outside but soft and fluffy inside. All this for £9. I asked on behalf of my wife if they catered for gluten free food. The lady advised me to phone up 30 minutes prior to visiting , to allow the frier to be switched on to warm up, as they use a separate fryer , correct procedure. I was very impressed by the way this eatery operated. Highly recommended if you are hungry and want to eat good food in a clean and friendly, not rushed atmosphere. Thank you for making my visit to Oswestry a very pleasant day out. In the words of Arnie "I'll be back".

UNFORTUNATELY, we believe there to be new management in place and it really has dropped off as (every time we ring up to make our 'special' g/f order) the machine isn't working, has not been repaired or (basically) I think they just can't be bothered anymore! There were FOUR adults placing an order so they have lost a considerable amount of money over a year from us and how many more customers have they lost ???

A classic example of a new owner taking over a thriving business and ruining it. The choice of food was limited and not up to previous standard; the time taken to prepare it was lengthy and unreasonable; the hygiene routine of the server left much to be desired – she was more concerned with texting on her germ-ridden mobile phone than serving customers, and she didn't wash her hands afterwards before going back to handling food.

A cloudy, cold, damp Monday in Shropshire and happy for it! We wandered around the shops, the charity shops and then it was lunch time and into The Hippodrome we did go. Quiet, not busy, lots of seating to choose from. Ordered drinks at the bar and then selected 3 items from the "3 for..." selection. Chicken Wings are SO good! Chips hot, crispy and delicious. The Pizza? Underdone, mushy crust...wanted hubby to send it back but he just carried on and ate the bits that he could. Not an outstanding meal at a Wetherspoons but it suited our needs for the day. Wetherspoons is in the midst of lots of special deals and you just can't beat the prices.

We visited this establishment 31st August for lunch and when I ordered the food I was advised it was a 20 minute wait to which I said it was not a problem. One hour later our starters arrived, then 30 minutes later we were advised that they had run out of ham so one of our party had to order something different, then 3 of the main courses arrived and we had to wait another 20 minutes for the final main by which time 3 of us had finished our meals. Very little in the way of an apology, one free drink to make up for the missing ham. The food was average but the level of service was appalling, I would not recommend this pub to anyone as it was a total letdown.

Popped in on a random Tuesday lunchtime the place was empty but that didn't put us off the service was very good, food excellent selection of drinks was spot on and the main reason we went is how dog friendly they are so we could take our little pooch with us. Would definitely visit again
